Axe 01 - Audio - Open to Both Courts - Forward-dated to October 2nd
[Not a video, just audio. It’s clear, however, that the person on the other end is inspecting the locket]
--hmph, thought as much. "Say a phrase and the magic will work", hm? Ridiculous. Who ever heard of speaking over distances with a locket.. Not even Legolas with all his fanciful Elven stories would have come up with something so foolish.
[More tapping and poking can be heard]
There’s nothing special about this at all. No gems, not even made of precious metals...and those creatures expect me to believe their stories? [A snort] I’d sooner believe there’s a man in Rohan afraid of horses! [He pauses, and then scoffs] Bah, listen to me, talking to myself. Legolas must be rubbing off on me more than I thought!
[Click goes the locket.]

Sure, it looks cheap but I bet people'd still pay an arm or a leg for an extra one.

Apparently the faeries were telling the truth. Huh. That's...worrisome, really, because that means they might have been telling the truth about other things.]
Hmph. And why is that?

[Audio] because a certain dwarf has the darn thing closed
[Yep. That surprisingly loud yet completely bored voice is definitely coming from that locket, Gimli.]
[Audio] whaaaaaaaat he thought it was a trick!
Seems if I'm to believe the stories, I ought to believe the storytellers.

What, are the tales of the Palantiri of Feanor forgotten amongst your folk now, Master Dwarf? Although I grant that even they were not so simple to use as these, nor as small.
You are a friend of the Woodland Prince then? He is here, you will find - and will doubtless be glad to greet you. In lieu of him, be well come to the Drabwurld, poor welcome though it be.
private video
The palantiri are cursed stones, no longer used by any of the Free Peoples--and my folk never had any tales of them to begin with!
[Hmph]
You know Legolas? I do not remember you from our travels.

Thankfully Maglor's already told him he's here, otherwise there'd be a bit more yelling.]

Gimli has fallen to an enemy not even the elves could fight for the mortals. Age.
Legolas still remembers (and he always will) the months, years, of grief that followed. He still recalls every little detail carved into his tomb made of smooth stone. Such tears, silent and slow fell then too, interspersed with song of bone-deep grief. But those are all memories he should not be sinking into now, though the circumstance is terrible, this is a dear friend who has been returned to him and so it should be time to rejoice and to be merry. His chest aches with all sorts of conflicting emotions, but there is one that wins out and it's relief. With Gimli at his side, after all, all that he had set out to do is bound to be much easier to achieve. Such is the depth of his trust and belief in one of the greatest friends he has ever made.
Finally, he chooses to respond in the same manner Gimli has made his message, glad for it to be nothing but voice so that it gives him a convenient excuse for his own use of it. When he speaks, he sounds plenty cheerful, plenty teasing just as Gimli must remember him by. ]
Is this to say, I have managed to abate your stubbornness just a little as well?
voice. private.
[You can hear Gimli's smile when he hears his Elf's voice. He doesn't even think to ask the locket to let him see the Elf, he saw him only a few days ago and he sincerely doubts he's changed all that much]
So you are here. I was doubting what others had said, but I see they were telling the truth. Where are you?

In the flesh.
Still seventy-seven. (And that is one hell of a thought, to be nearly twice his older cousin's age.)]

Are you going to once more travel with Legolas? I would know of it, if your plans veer in that vein, as his father.
[ It would make him feel a lot better, truthfully. ]

But when a dwarf is unsure about a magical locket, then I know to be worried.
audio
[Says the Dwarf who is basically life partners with an Elf.]
Any Dwarf worth his salt would be wary of anything that claimed to be magical. Nothing good has ever come from enchanted trinkets.

two lost Durins find each other
Besides, one never knows - some of the new faces might just be familiar to him.
Of course the whole thing is easier said than done, and perhaps predictably to just about anyone else, while Thorin was intending to go to the feast hall, he turns up elsewhere entirely, one corridor that looks just about the same as all the others, and no fairy in sight to give him directions.
Not that he would admit to needing them, of course. Even now he looks like he knows exactly where he's headed - even though he really doesn't. ]
yup
It's only natural that he end up lost, of course, as he's a new arrival. Still, when he sees someone walking towards him (too far away to see if he knows them, but anyone will do), he calls out]
You wouldn't know how to get to wherever it is they expect us to sleep, would you?

This is how she comes to find him, at first only seeing him from behind but his stature, along with his hair, giving him away, and before she can think that perhaps it is not him, she is already calling out, a relieved smile on her face. ] Gimli!
