Axe 01 - Audio - Open to Both Courts - Forward-dated to October 2nd

[Not a video, just audio. It’s clear, however, that the person on the other end is inspecting the locket]

--hmph, thought as much. "Say a phrase and the magic will work", hm? Ridiculous. Who ever heard of speaking over distances with a locket.. Not even Legolas with all his fanciful Elven stories would have come up with something so foolish.

[More tapping and poking can be heard]

There’s nothing special about this at all. No gems, not even made of precious metals...and those creatures expect me to believe their stories? [A snort] I’d sooner believe there’s a man in Rohan afraid of horses! [He pauses, and then scoffs] Bah, listen to me, talking to myself. Legolas must be rubbing off on me more than I thought!

[Click goes the locket.]

[Kili doesn't recognize the voice right away, though there is something familiar about it. Clearly it's a dwarf, one that knows Legolas, and naturally his interest is peaked.]

Elves do tell the most wild tales, do they not?

[Gimli just stares for a second. It's Kíli.

Still seventy-seven. (And that is one hell of a thought, to be nearly twice his older cousin's age.)]

Aye, cousin, that they do.

Gimli? [Kili gapes right on back. This Gimli is most certainly not the tag-along cousin he left behind in Ered Luin. This is the Gimli that Legolas knows, the one he saw in the elf's memories, with a full beard and armor and so...grown.]

Durin's beard, look at you!

[Suddenly he's feeling very self conscious of his lack of beard.]

[He can't help it. Gimli laughs. Oh, Durin but he missed his cousins. He just didn't know how much]

Look at you! It has been a long while since I've seen you this young, cousin. Eighty years or so!

[Totally dodging the whole depressing thing yeah]

Mahal above, your beard! [Kili laughs, brown eyes twinkling with excitement.] Lucky you.

[He glances around.] Fili! C'mere, it's cousin Gimli! [Kili glances back to the locket.] No idea where he went...

Find the nearest keg of ale.

[Worked before!]

And aye, my beard! I am my father's son, how could I settle for anything less?

[Kili snorts out a laugh, clearly in high spirits.] It's magnificent.

[He's definitely jealous.]

Of course it is, I've been growing it for a hundred and forty-four years!

A hundred and-- [Kili gapes. That's almost twice his age.]

You're older than me 'n Fili!

Aye, I am. And that is a strange thought, I assure you.

Where are you, cousin? We should meet!

Wherever it is the Seelie takes its captives. If you aren't here, I suggest you hurry as I will be leaving with Legolas whenever he finally gets here.

Cair Glaem?

[Hold on...]

I'm already there! We all are. Thorin, Fili, Bilbo...

Thorin is here as well?

[Oh, that hurts]

Well, where are you? I will admit I do not know my way around this place very well and so far have only managed to find the banquet hall and a bedroom.

[Kili nods.] We all came through together.

[That makes him laugh.] It almost sounds as if you have Uncle Thorin's head for directions!

[Well, that explains what's up with Bilbo.

And then Kíli says that and Gimli grumps]

Tch, I have been here maybe a day! Forgive me if I do not have a map of the castle memorized yet.

[Kili bursts into gleeful laughter.]

I'll meet you in the banquet hall.

[Gimli nods and heads down there.

Eighty years and Kíli still manages to get him riled up with hardly a word! How is that fair!?]
