[Not a video, just audio. It’s clear, however, that the person on the other end is inspecting the locket]

--hmph, thought as much. "Say a phrase and the magic will work", hm? Ridiculous. Who ever heard of speaking over distances with a locket.. Not even Legolas with all his fanciful Elven stories would have come up with something so foolish.

[More tapping and poking can be heard]

There’s nothing special about this at all. No gems, not even made of precious metals...and those creatures expect me to believe their stories? [A snort] I’d sooner believe there’s a man in Rohan afraid of horses! [He pauses, and then scoffs] Bah, listen to me, talking to myself. Legolas must be rubbing off on me more than I thought!

[Click goes the locket.]

[ lmao bruh please. mako recognizes the name legolas, and this gruff fellow seems a little more along his line of logic (for real, gems or precious metal? you're speaking his language there, buddy) so it's not hard to drop in a line after all. ]

Sure, it looks cheap but I bet people'd still pay an arm or a leg for an extra one.

[Excuse him, he didn't expect to hear the locket talk back to him, so he actually drops the locket in surprise as is indicated by the clattering of metal-on-stone.

Apparently the faeries were telling the truth. Huh. That's...worrisome, really, because that means they might have been telling the truth about other things.]

You can believe the stories...well, this one at least. Whether or not you should believe them is something I'm not yet sure of.

You'd be a fool to believe anything you can't confirm yourself. You can at least check the lockets on your own.

They also work better open. At least then you may see who you are dealing with.

A portable communication device that fits into your pocket and has a range that's basically one end of the continent to the other that's issued so that everyone only gets one? Take a guess.

The palantiri are cursed stones, no longer used by any of the Free Peoples--and my folk never had any tales of them to begin with!

Much better. I prefer to see who I am addressing. Anyone who hides their face over these devices is usually hiding something else.

[Not that it's been confirmed in more than once scenario, but there's definitely an inherent distrust for anyone choosing to hide their face over these things.]

[ and as if to demonstrate, mako does that for his own, his image flicking into existance in the air above gimli's as soon as he does the same. draped over his shoulders is a serpentine creature with jade scales and a golden mane, sleeping with its head tucked in the folds of the scarf around his neck. ]

[Yep, still only half paying attention over here. Though she had at least briefly studied the image on the other end of the locket. Seemed human...ish, at least. Not like he had pointy ears or green skin or whatever was going on with that irritable alien when she'd first arrived. Nothing impressive...yet. I did not trust these "hosts" before and I most certainly do not trust them now if they kidnapped you as well, milady.

He is - he and I travel together at present, with others. Time, you will find, runs strangely in these lands. He and I are from times far separate to each other, and yet we walk here together without the long stretch of years between us - indeed, he was not yet born, I do believe. He has been here as long as I, and I have been here these last... 8 months, I believe now. Perhaps more. You must be good friends, you and he.
