Axe 01 - Audio - Open to Both Courts - Forward-dated to October 2nd

[Not a video, just audio. It’s clear, however, that the person on the other end is inspecting the locket]

--hmph, thought as much. "Say a phrase and the magic will work", hm? Ridiculous. Who ever heard of speaking over distances with a locket.. Not even Legolas with all his fanciful Elven stories would have come up with something so foolish.

[More tapping and poking can be heard]

There’s nothing special about this at all. No gems, not even made of precious metals...and those creatures expect me to believe their stories? [A snort] I’d sooner believe there’s a man in Rohan afraid of horses! [He pauses, and then scoffs] Bah, listen to me, talking to myself. Legolas must be rubbing off on me more than I thought!

[Click goes the locket.]

private video also I have NO CLUE where Mags would be in relation to Legs except 'nearby'

He is - he and I travel together at present, with others. Time, you will find, runs strangely in these lands. He and I are from times far separate to each other, and yet we walk here together without the long stretch of years between us - indeed, he was not yet born, I do believe. He has been here as long as I, and I have been here these last... 8 months, I believe now. Perhaps more. You must be good friends, you and he.

[ have one of those stupidly graceful elf-shrugs ]

That I cannot answer - I did mention that time was strange. My cousin Galadriel is taken from near six thousand years ahead of me, but my cousin Idril is some eighty years behind. Likely, Legolas and you are in a similar situation - he is from either before, or after the time of your recalling.

[ A fell light kindles in his eyes at the mention of the Faerie Queens, who he has great reasons to dislike ]

They care little for our wishes, you will find - I should ask, but I think I would know the answer - which court has laid claim to you?

[ and then it winks out and Maglor blinks in mild surprise ]

Aye? She is my uncle's youngest daughter, although I knew her better as Nerwen than Galadriel.

[ His lips curl in a grimace at that ] I confess myself unsurprised - most folk from our world are claimed on that side. Have a care of the Queen! Gracious and fair she seems, but she hides a serpants tongue. And trust not overly to the lockets, for they are not secure, if you wish to keep messages private.

[ A sigh and he closes his eyes briefly at the pain such news brings ]

No, I suppose you would not. [ He says softly, and there is a world of grief in his voice ] She would have little reason to speak of us, and all the reason to not.

[ Opening them again, Gimli will see the same light that burns in Galadriel's eyes in his, and he bows, once ]

But aye, she does. A daughter she has, that you will meet here, the Lady Celebrian. Four brothers, who walk no longer on the shores of Arda, including the estimable Lord Finrod, who you may know. I believe your folk named him 'Felak-gundu' - Felagund, in the common tongue. And... for our pains, she has cousins, also, the sons of her father's eldest brother. I am Maglor Feanorion, Master Gimli, whose name most would likely be only too glad to forget, and my eldest brother was Maedhros the Tall, dwarf-friend to Azhagal of Belegost.

Are we truly so forgotten then? [ He says sadly ] My brothers and I, I could understand, for we are a blot on history most would be glad to forget. But Azhagal was a good friend, if far before your time, and in their time Galadriel's brothers were noble and great - the golden house of Finarfin, and they deserved better than to be lost to time.

[ but he shrugs a little and crooks an eyebrow ] You are friends with the Woodland Prince, and you have to ask? He has spoken of you, indeed, of all his mortal friends, rapturously and at length. I was not certain, before, but your speech has confirmed it, and I am glad to know meet the friend of one so great.

And so our kindreds are estranged. [ Maglor says softly and sadly ] And yet another thing my family touched has come to ruin.

[ a small shrug ]

It is one tale he is glad to tell - that of his companions in the War of the Ring. I am glad that he had such stalwart company.

[ A small wry smile ]

He did, aye - indeed, he speaks of all but himself, in his tales. If you know what it is that he does not speak of, I would be glad to know his part, for he pretends he himself was only a small part.

I think I would like to meet this Aragorn. [ Maglor murmurs softly ]

He sounds a fine Man. And Legolas may have made mention of Fangorn, aye. And what were your impressions of it, Master Gimli?

[ That startles a soft laugh, Maglor's demeanour lightening ]

Are the Shepherds of the Trees so unnerving then, Master Gimli? I suppose one of the Silvan like Legolas would love such a place.

[ Eh, he may be half and half, but he acts Silvan and Maglor treats him accordingly ]

Treebeard... [ Maglor considers ] Fangorn, in the Sindarin then, the master of the forest himself - you are fortunate indeed, Master Dwarf. As for trees and talking... I suppose you may have my folk to blame for that, for twas said that when the Eldar first woke under the stars we spoke to everything and some of them eventually learnt to speak back.

[ a wry crook of a smile ]

You are welcome. But one day you will have to tell me the tales of your journey from your perspective, I think - tis unfair if I only hear Legolas' version, after all.

Mayhap, but a bard needs must look at things from all sides, after all. It would not do to tell a tale inaccurate, nor to seem to favour one side over another!

Perhaps so, and perhaps not - but I would have to hear you tell it to know, true?
