video ( open to seelie + unseelie )
[ The feed opens with Hermione in the library - where else would she be? - in the Seelie court, a pile of books and papers around her. It's obvious she's been reading and taking notes, going deeper and deeper into as many of the shelves as she can (and the only place she hasn't been allowed access is the Restricted Area, which she is going to get permission for soon). After a moment of brushing her hair out of her face and forcing a slightly brighter smile she leans forward, into the 'camera'. ]
Hello, everyone. My name is Hermione Granger, for anyone I haven't met yet, and I was just wondering if you'd mind answering a few questions I have?
[ She pauses for a moment, grabbing a piece of paper with a list on it and smoothing it out. ]
I was wondering if you'd all be able to tell me about magic, or powers, or anything that might not be considered 'normal' to the average human or otherwise that exist in your worlds? Maybe magical creatures, too, or beings that you think do not transcend to other places that you've heard of. In my world, if it's alright to call them that, we have magic, magical creatures and humans, giants, werewolves, vampires... But a lot of worlds - or universes, I suppose - don't.
[ She smiles, almost sheepish, shy. ]
I hope this isn't too intrusive, I'm just curious and I'd love to learn more, if I'm able.

Harry! You're here - where are you? I'll come and find you. And don't worry, I have Hogwarts: A History with me so you can read it later.

Where I come from, such things are nothing more than fairy tales and ghost stories. If you claim to have any sort of magic or to be such a creature, they would deem you very mad.

[ It's said with a smile, though; it was almost more... Teasing, at least in later years. ]
I assure you, my magic is real.

I have found that 'normal' is rarely simple to define. There is much that mortals call 'magic' which my people would consider the ordinary workings of the world.

If you're familiar with the Greek and Roman myths, then where I come from they're real. Pegasi, unicorns, the Minotaur, all of the gods, Titans, and Giants. Pretty much everything. Demigods are still pretty common. The catch is that most mortals don't see beyond the Mist. It makes them see something that isn't the truth, but somewhat close. There are some mortals who can see through it, but they're very rare.

No magic, back where I'm from. But there's an archaeological dig on Mars.
[ A pause, then- ]
When Ginny woke up from her... magic sleep, I told her that maybe you could teach her some healing magic. Hope you don't mind.
video;
That's - wow. A huge leap forward in science, compared to my world. I don't think we've even begun to send things to Mars yet.
[ And, hah, she brightens. ]
I don't mind. Ginny's from my world - we'll sort each other out.

[Elincia doesn't mind speaking of her own world but it was difficult to compare to others]
Magic was normal in my world. Everyone has a little bit of magic but whether or not they could use it was a different matter. For example, I am capable at using magical staffs to heal but I would find it next to impossible to use any magic tomes like a mage would.
no subject
[ All this sounds very interesting, though. ]
So there are different kinds of magic users, people that can use one type of magic over another. How do you learn which kind you can use? Trial and error?

There was another world I've been to, though. Where magic was the norm. Would it be useful to you if I elaborated?

Not too long ago, where I'm from — NYC, that is, in, uh, 2012 — there was this guy who called himself Spider-Man. [ he holds out a hand, splaying it like this is some groundbreaking stuff. ] Wore a mask, could stick to walls, and swung from webs like a spider. And he saved the city from a man-lizard hybrid. He actually keeps saving the city. All the time, now.
[ does that sound as crazy out loud as it does in his head? probably. ]
But everyone thinks that they were both the result of genetic experiments, not something like magic, anyway. [ something decidedly not real! well... ] In fact, they found the serum that gave the lizard guy powers. Turns out he wanted to expose everyone to it, so we could "evolve" or something. Crazy stuff. I mean, New York's weird, but it's never been that weird before, y'know?
video;
[ She pauses to think about it, tilting her head and letting herself think. It makes sense for it to be based on a true story, though she never really did read too much of the series. She was far too busy with her war, after all. ]
I don't think I've ever heard of science going that far, not in my universe. I'm almost fifteen years behind your time, though, so I suppose the muggles could have done it... But Spider-Man - magic or not, he's a good guy, isn't he? I mean, he's saving people, doing a good thing, helping.

[ He lifts his hand into the feed to show the large silver ring on his right middle finger, embossed with a black-and-gold hand. ]
Wizards in my world use magic rings to protect people called Gates from monsters we call Phantoms. Phantoms tend to draw off myth... but I don't know if the originals really exist. I'd guess Phantoms have always existed, but we don't know very much. The ones I've fought were created trying to power a Philosopher's Stone.
[ He's read her story - or, well, Harry's story, he supposes, but she's part of it. If she's really the real thing, anyway. He smiles. ]
There are other... monsters, apparently, space monsters called Zodiarts and creatures from another world they called 'Inves', but I don't really concern myself with them. There are other people I work with. [ Vaguely. They all protect their own sphere, anyway. ]
video;
[ She leans in to get a better look at the ring, but the thing that really catches her attention is the reference to a Philosopher's Stone. Her eyes flicker back up and she tilts her head. ]
I don't suppose it's the same kind of stone as I know? In my world the Philosopher's Stone was known to be able to give eternal life and turn any metal into gold.
[ She does look curious about these monsters, though, especially if they're from space. It's... Completely different from anything she knows. ]
That sounds beyond imagination, really. If I wasn't here I'd probably say it was ridiculous.
