oo1; video, seelie & unseelie
[ out in the Unseelie courtyard, surrounded by inky black thorn bushes (how appropriate,) Loki sits on the ground, rustling through the plants as delicately as possible. he seems amused enough, a small bundle of the plants already gathered in a cloth in his lap. ]
Atropa belladonna. Once known to be an effective anesthetic and even as a beauty aid, but now more commonly used as a deadly poison, able to render even the most mighty of warriors powerless. A useless, hallucinating, drooling pile on the ground.
Oft considered one of the primary tools of the witch. [ he laughs a little to himself. ] How fitting.
Tell me about yourselves, my new friends. Your worlds, your myths, your folklore. Your legends and your mysteries. I will share my own, in return.
Where I come from, there are nine known, documented realms. Nine worlds. The realms of the gods, the giants, the dying, and the dead among them. I have seen most all of them myself, and I must say, they hardly compare to the remarkable land I find myself in now. Very quaint.
I am sure there are others among you who agree, no? I can't be the only one who feels so very at home here.

You've seen giants...? [ small-voiced and curious. she tries not to appear too interested. ]

Indeed. They're hardly the most amicable of creatures, but useful in a pinch.

Where I come from, Greek and Roman myths are real. They're literally part of our lives. Gods, monsters, spirits...the mortals just don't see them, except for a rare few who can see through the Mist. It's a magical veil that mostly makes mortals see something else. A hellhound might look like an ordinary dog to them. It can also fool demigods, but we can look passed the Mist.

There is much here that is similar, but much is different, also. What stories would you have, and what would you trade in return?
no subject
I would trade my own stories if the ones I am told are equally interesting.

[ Squint. ] I wanna know 'bout nien realms, an' giants an' dying an' dead. What's the difference? An' why would you wanna make a beauty summin' outta poison? Girls are weird.
no subject
Their differences are simple. Giants are giant. The dying are dying. The dead are dead. The concept is not that difficult to grasp.

[ Just an observation. Not a request. Nobody oppress the elves. ]
We've the Fade, where I'm from—where we go when we sleep—but I hope this isn't anything similar. If my body is actually still in the Free Marches, then it's probably on its way to a chopping block by now.
no subject
Feeling a tad bit inferior, are we? [ might be noting this for future reference ]
And I don't suppose you'd know for certain anytime soon, what exactly this place is. Should your head suddenly fall off, however, perhaps the concepts are indeed similar.

Video
[ The video pendulumns a bit, swaying; it's clear he's holding the locket at arms length, letting it dangle from its chain. The vision of him it shows is bright, by contrast; shining half-plate and mail, his pale hair pulled tightly back from his almost femininely-featured face, sharp and slim. It makes him look like a tawny fox; he's at the Unseelie gatehouse, its banners flapping darkly behind him, stark against the sunset-stained sky. ]
Which world of the nine are you from, stranger? Did it have a name, and do you?
Likewise, this place seems... as welcoming as a homeland. [ His pale eyes shine bright and hard as well-cut gems, and he tips his chin up a little, grinning. ]
But you asked for a myth, a legend, or a mystery! How well do you value what's given for free? Give me one of the same from your land, and I'll tell you the best that I know.
no subject
Of course there are names, but it is rude to be demanding them without giving one's own first.
And the same goes for stories. I'm hardly inclined to give any of my own if what I receive in return does not interest me enough. And I did ask first.
