[It's been a few days now, but when Merida flicks the locket on, she looks like an absolute mess. Her hair is disheveled, it looks like she hasn't slept in days, and in spite of how she's feeling, she's only contacted a couple of people. Who knows how many others he knew? There's a couple of wolfhounds on either side of her, and she rubs at her eyes, wiping a the corner.]
Lancer - that is, Cu Chulainn - he left th' Drabwurld this last week.
[Her throat clogs up and she has to clear it before she continues, one of the hounds nuzzling her and licking her cheek before she gently places a hand on his collar.]
I'm goin' to be livin' in Leathann from now on, since th' fortress is gone, but I'll still be comin' an' goin' between there an' th' trainin' grounds. Anybody that had any unresolved business with him, I'll try an' follow through with it.
[There's a pause before she lets her lips quirk into a tired, wry smile.]
I don't suppose anyone knows a cure for heartbreak, huh?
[And the feed ends.]

[ She's not going to tell her she's doing it now, but a raven is going to be sent with some pastries, the same kind she used to make when Merida lived at the chateau. ]
all the private forever
[No it's not, and she's going to devour the shit out of those pastries.]
I just...needed to get that out so that people knew.

I think I met him, at the last battle. We talked a bit. About the war, about options.

A cure for heartbreak? I asked, once. It didn't help. Took all of my love, not just my love for Charming. Made me hateful. Awful, really. Until he found me and brought me back. It doesn't stop hurting. But it will dull and get easier in time. Though I know none of this is probably what you're wanting to hear right now. But....I'm here if you need me to just listen.

I've messed with magic before, I'm not goin' to just because somethin' in me is broken. [She bites her bottom lip.] It's...I don't know what to do with this.
video;
[Even so. She bites her lip, giving a sigh.]
All I can say is that you still have others here to care for you. Surround yourself with them and don't lose hope. I don't know if some might be able to be brought here again somehow, but...I'm sure he wouldn't want you too downcast.

If you want distractions past that, though -- those I can provide.
[ Missions and puppies and alcohol, these are a few of his favorite things. ]

[She knew he would. Merida lets a smile cross her face.]
I could do with a distraction right now.

Find work, and throw yourself into it. That's how I work around emotions.

[She drags a hand down her face, sighing a little. He's probably call her a coward for it.]
It's a pity I just finished something a few days ago. [She purses her lips together.] Maybe I'll go back to th' trainin' grounds sooner.
no subject
Training, or books. I find books more useful, but that's me and you know me for the twig I am.

You look like shit. If there is still fighting, you should stay away from it until you have rest.
no subject
[Funny how that's the second recommendation for drinking.]
I'd prefer to fight. He wouldn't want me to just sit around.
no subject
Not rest forever, just a little rest. It is good to go out there with a better head. There is still things like making weapons or planning that can be done until you have good sleep.

[Steve has that worried wrinkle in his brow as he looks at her.]
Do you need anything?

[Merida realises it's only been a few days. She can't expect to get over it so quickly. The worst part was she'd made him promise not to leave. The question makes her shake her head.]
I'll be fine. There's plenty of crows around for me to do some target practice.

[ Does she know this girl very well? No, not at all. But she does know that she's someone who's important to Korra and that Lancer was someone important to her. What did she call him...her lover?
That...that isn't easy. At all. ]
I'm so sorry.

I'm still figuring it out myself, but it's different for everyone in how they cure their heartbreak. It's hard to not let the pain overwhelm you or control you, making what you felt about that person sour. I think that the best medicine is to grieve in your own way, and to know that there are people here who will support you.
[She hesitates.]
I know we've never met before now, but... if you need someone to talk to, I can make time for that.

Thank you. I just...this is my first time dealin' with this sort of heartbreak so I didn't...I don't know what to do. It's been hard enough without having to inform people.
[If she hadn't fallen in love she wouldn't have been suffering like this.]
My name's Merida.

( she and Merida aren't close, but Emma feels for her anyway. this is a pain she knows, too vividly. and there's not a lot of answers to be had, especially here. everything she's heard about people disappearing isn't good. she wonders if Merida knows that... and figures if she doesn't, it won't help to tell her. )
I'm sorry. And I'm sorry that I'm sorry means so little, but that's all I can say. If I've got any advice... Let yourself grieve. But don't let it control you.
video;
[Her lips quirk into a small smile of sympathy for Emma when she hears that. She wouldn't wish this kind of feeling, not on anyone, not even her worst enemy. Merida's hand goes to her chest, which has been feeling heavy in the days since she found his shard, before she shakes her head.]
I think...what makes it hurt more is I was stupid enough to make him promise to stay. After I punched him for bein' an idiot. I knew he wouldn't be able to keep it but...

[ as for how to cure heartbreak, luke doubts there's anything out there for it. but what does he know? he's not the son of a god who's useful. ]
[ he smiles, ] I hear Taylor Swift knows how to perform a miracle.
