[It's been a few days now, but when Merida flicks the locket on, she looks like an absolute mess. Her hair is disheveled, it looks like she hasn't slept in days, and in spite of how she's feeling, she's only contacted a couple of people. Who knows how many others he knew? There's a couple of wolfhounds on either side of her, and she rubs at her eyes, wiping a the corner.]

Lancer - that is, Cu Chulainn - he left th' Drabwurld this last week.

[Her throat clogs up and she has to clear it before she continues, one of the hounds nuzzling her and licking her cheek before she gently places a hand on his collar.]

I'm goin' to be livin' in Leathann from now on, since th' fortress is gone, but I'll still be comin' an' goin' between there an' th' trainin' grounds. Anybody that had any unresolved business with him, I'll try an' follow through with it.

[There's a pause before she lets her lips quirk into a tired, wry smile.]

I don't suppose anyone knows a cure for heartbreak, huh?

[She gives her a small smile, wiping at her eyes. She doesn't know Asami very well, it's true, but she appreciates the thought.]

[ She doesn't think you need to be close to someone to sympathize with them. ]

Losing a loved one is never easy, no matter how often it happens. [ It's okay to be sad, you don't have to write it off. ] If I knew a cure, I'd definitely share it with you.

Well, thank you. I didn't think there was one but it couldn't have hurt to ask.

[The lightheartedness is needed right now, so she doesn't mind it. If anything it makes her smile quirk a little more.]

I know it's...goin' to take a while.

[But a part of her can't help but feel selfish for wishing it hadn't happened.]

[ She nods. Of course there is no set time to heal, but she doesn't think she needs to say as much. ]

I know we don't know each other very well...but this is exactly the time I'd suggest going for a drive.

Drive? Like drivin' a horse an' cart?

[There's a raised eyebrow before her lips quirk.]

Maybe I should take Angus out for a run.

[ That's likely the closest they'll get outside of the Station, isn't it? ]

Yes, something like that. You know, just get out, go fast...wind in your hair? It's nice.

I have missed just ridin' an' not flyin'.

[As nice as flying was, sometimes being closer to the ground made her feel better.]

[ There we go, something that might not be so painful to talk about. ]

Is Angus your horse?

[She nods. At the very least, she knew he wouldn't be leaving the Drabwurld without her.]

Aye. He's my best friend, has been ever since I was younger.

And he came with you here? That's wonderful.

[ There are definitely some friends you can't leave behind. ]

[There's a shake of her head at that.]

He was th' first thing I asked th' monarchs for. [There's a small quirk of her lips, and she looks down.] Th' first thing I thought of when I was asked what I wanted. I wanted him more than anythin' else.

[ Asami smiles softly. ]

Having your best friend around can make all the difference.

[As much as she means Angus, she also means Jack. He was back but she couldn't see him as much as she'd like.]

I've been really lucky that I had friends here already...and everyone else has been so nice.
