[It's been a few days now, but when Merida flicks the locket on, she looks like an absolute mess. Her hair is disheveled, it looks like she hasn't slept in days, and in spite of how she's feeling, she's only contacted a couple of people. Who knows how many others he knew? There's a couple of wolfhounds on either side of her, and she rubs at her eyes, wiping a the corner.]

Lancer - that is, Cu Chulainn - he left th' Drabwurld this last week.

[Her throat clogs up and she has to clear it before she continues, one of the hounds nuzzling her and licking her cheek before she gently places a hand on his collar.]

I'm goin' to be livin' in Leathann from now on, since th' fortress is gone, but I'll still be comin' an' goin' between there an' th' trainin' grounds. Anybody that had any unresolved business with him, I'll try an' follow through with it.

[There's a pause before she lets her lips quirk into a tired, wry smile.]

I don't suppose anyone knows a cure for heartbreak, huh?

Oh, Merida. I'm so sorry.

[ She's not going to tell her she's doing it now, but a raven is going to be sent with some pastries, the same kind she used to make when Merida lived at the chateau. ]

[Oh, Merida. A topic far too close to her heart not to respond and try help. What little she can manage at least.]

A cure for heartbreak? I asked, once. It didn't help. Took all of my love, not just my love for Charming. Made me hateful. Awful, really. Until he found me and brought me back. It doesn't stop hurting. But it will dull and get easier in time. Though I know none of this is probably what you're wanting to hear right now. But....I'm here if you need me to just listen.

Booze helps for a little bit, but I don't recommend it in the long term. I know I'll have a glass for him, though.

If you want distractions past that, though -- those I can provide.

[ Missions and puppies and alcohol, these are a few of his favorite things. ]

[She looks a little surprised by that, though she'd known both of them had been out there. Ariadne's form as the Devourer was unmistakable.]

Blue hair, red eyes? [She raises a hand to run the back of it under her nose.] I'm glad you two met.

Well, yes. You've grown and learned since your disagreement with your mother, Merida. But I know it hurts. All we can do is try to keep moving forward from this in spite of missing friends and loved ones. Which isn't always easy, especially when some are from other worlds entirely that here may be our only chance to see them.

[Even so. She bites her lip, giving a sigh.]

All I can say is that you still have others here to care for you. Surround yourself with them and don't lose hope. I don't know if some might be able to be brought here again somehow, but...I'm sure he wouldn't want you too downcast.

He'd probably try an' make me angry on purpose.

[It makes her laugh a little, shaking her head. There wasn't much else to be said about it, but that was how things had worked. Merida cups her hands around the depowered shard in her grip, one of the hounds nudging her again when it sees her do that.]

I will...I mean I'll do that eventually. I don't want to be alone right now.

I'm sorry to hear Lancer's gone. Don't linger in Leathann for too long though, please. [Don't get eaten by Void.]

Find work, and throw yourself into it. That's how I work around emotions.

My cure is a lot of drinking, but this is probably not the best example to follow.

You look like shit. If there is still fighting, you should stay away from it until you have rest.

He probably would not want you hurt or dead.

Not rest forever, just a little rest. It is good to go out there with a better head. There is still things like making weapons or planning that can be done until you have good sleep.

Good, I'd be deeply upset if you did.

Training, or books. I find books more useful, but that's me and you know me for the twig I am.
