ok so
fuck. wait.
[the text function switches over to video, which takes a bit longer than expected, because effy has never touched something so high-tech. she learns quickly, though, and doesn't have any trouble fixing up the feed so it shows her face. her face, thin and dusted with freckles and a button of a nose, is unimpressed. in fact, there's hardly much emotion showing besides a small twitch of her brow when she speaks up. around her, it is quiet. her voice is soft with a hint of a rasp. she is smoking.]
Right then. Don't really know where I am, but I don't think I'm awake. You know, how in dreams, it feels like you've been doing something for hours and hours, but when you wake up, it's just been fifteen minutes?
[she glances down, straight hair sweeping in front of her face as she takes a drag from her cigarette. when she looks up, she exhales, smoke dissipating into the air around her.]
Feels like that.
[she gives a sly smile,]
But it isn't a dream, is it?
[with one last flicker of mischievousness in her eyes, she shuts the locket.]
(ooc: effy is also wandering around the castle of caer scima, so if you want to do an action thread and have your character stumble upon her, feel free! i'm up for anything c:)

video.
Hate to break it to you, but it's definitely not. Welcome to the Drabwurld. Don't trust the fairies.
video.
Woop-de-doo. [she looks affronted (hardly).] Trust them? They spiked up people's drinks at the party.
video.
Well, good. If you err on the side of caution, you'll do just fine.

Sure. Any other warnings?

no she can be normal about this. she can. if Thomas has a clone ( that isn't really a clone ) then she can too, right? and she can... not completely freak out about it.
but okay she can't exactly think of anything to say at first, her mouth opening, then closing, then she's releasing a harsh huff of a breath through her nose. and not saying anything. she's just- sitting on camera, staring, brow furrowed up ]

but it can't be. the girl in front of her-- she certainly looks like her, but there's little differences. clothes, for one, and the way she reacts to effy's presence, for another. she moves when effy doesn't and it makes her eyes widen and her brows mimic teresa's.]
What the fuck?

[ whoa, it's been a while since she's heard an actual curse word. a long, long while. but she only gets stuck on that for a second, instead noticing right away that the girl sounds like her, but- really doesn't, at the same time. she has an accent like Newt's, which is.. interesting. she's also wearing makeup, which isn't something Teresa's ever really put much thought into, and ..okay yeah, she's really mostly stuck on the accent, for now ]
I'm Teresa. And- I've seen this happen before, but I didn't think-
[ hhhhuff ]
I don't really know what I thought.

It is good you can recognize this as being separate from a dream then. There is a danger here in this place.

action! i can't hiatus when this post is waiting for me
(y'know. the one where he got her killed.)
so he's been trying to figure out how to get to the other side, at least to see her, and that requires a little bit of snooping. thomas is usually semi-good at this, and creeps through the hallways of caer scima, poking in doors, occasionally stumbling in on people's private quarters.
the time he does that and he sees a girl with black hair and ice blue eyes, he freezes, holding onto the door he just opened, heart seizing up in his chest in excitement and horror in twain. seeing her on a video had been one thing--here was teresa, standing in front of him, breathing, living, and he's not sure if he wants to scream or cry or a combination of the two. ]
Teresa?
[ except this doofus is thomas and the lovely girl in the room is not, in fact, teresa. not that he knows that yet. ]
yES
No.
[she takes a few steps towards thomas, intrigued, but her face is completely neutral aside from the slight interest in her eyes. she's wondering if he'll explain, or perhaps leave. he looks a tad too shocked -- no, damaged -- to leave, though. maybe she looks like a long lost girlfriend of his, or something. maybe she died.]
Why?
no subject
he looks for all the world like a kicked puppy for a moment as he tries to compartmentalize and calm his crazily beating heart, tension slowly bleeding out of his shoulders as he scrambles for some sort of explanation for the girl he just burst in on.]
I'm sorry, you--really look like someone I know. [ heartbreak, that's obvious in his voice. but at least teresa didn't lie--they really are far away from each other. ]

No. If it's a dream, it's not much of a good one.
video。
Tell me about this place, then. Don't much trust the "royalty" here.
video。
Probably a good idea not to. Wouldn't much trust anyone from this place—fairies, imps, anyone related to the royalty here. [ he shrugs one shoulder. ] Crazy things happen; likes I've never seen before.
Still don't much understand it.

video;
Everybody I've talked to says it's not, but I don't really believe it. Can't decide if that's smart or ignorant. [He just shrugs.] I've been known to have dreams that turn into different days before so it's not entirely impossible.
Would you prefer it to be a dream or something real?
video;
Not sure. [a shrug,] Haven't really thought about it much.
[she's lying-- of course she's thought about it. it's one of the big questions she still has; would she rather this be real or a dream? maybe a little bit of both, even, but she can't have both. she has to settle with reality, at least for now.]
You?
video;
Reality. If you think about it, knowing that you're really experiencing these things and you're really gaining all of this knowledge and learning all of these things makes your life seem a little more valuable, doesn't it? [It's better than the answer of "I've always wanted to be special just by being myself."]
