[jason once again appears on the locket network, this time appearing to actually be in one of the provided bedrooms of caer glaem. woah. he tugs idly at the collar of his shirt, new outfit helpfully provided by the fairies in place of his original t-shirt and jeans (those unfortunately all torn and dirty after the camping trip/worm hunt). it's a lot more fantasy than anything he's used to, but he's way too nice to complain about the clothes he was given for free.]
Hey. Just wanted to check in, I guess, before we head out again tomorrow. More exploring and all that.
[the hope, of course, is that they find something useful to the people stuck here, a way of getting home or something. getting a feel for the area and learning what kind of threats inhabited it was helpful too, though.]
It might be a bit useless right now, but I sort of made plans to eventually help someone learn to fight -- whenever we get back again, at least -- so I figured I might as well open the offer up to anyone else who's interested in it. I've got a lot of experience training people, and I'm used to teaching kids, so literally anyone is welcome. [a beat, where a hesitant look briefly crosses his face before he covers it back up with that cool, unshakeable praetor look.] Clarisse, if you wanna help out with that whenever it happens, I'd appreciate it.
[consider that a peace offering. or at least, an apology for accidentally arming your nemesis with a lethal weapon. he can think of no better way to appease clarisse than to give her the opportunity to show off her admittedly very impressive fighting skills.
that appears to be all he has to say for now, but he seems to fiddle with the locket for a moment before it cuts out for most people, working out how to send a message privately.]

Should I feel insulted that you offered to train me and you're used to training kids? Are you going to teach me on my knees? With balloon animals?

I trained kids in Roman Legionary warfare. With actual weapons.

You know, I can actually tell you a day or two before we're going back to Caer Glaem.

Holy Pluto-- Don't do that, Nico!

There are worse things you can call holy, I suppose.

You could have knocked.

[Liar. He likes scaring Jason too much.]
On topic, though? Or should I assume your ADHD is as bad as Valdez'?

Count me in. I could probably even teach you a thing or two.

he manages a grin regardless of how snarky that comment was probably intended to be.]
You probably could. I only got a few months learning the Greek side of things, and a lot of that time was spent helping with ship construction.
[when you can fly, you tend to get wrangled into assisting with high mundane tasks a lot.]
video;
she'd gotten a quest once on a technicality and chiron did entrust her with the secret mission into the labyrinth, but out of all the years she's been at camp now? it hardly seems like anything worth mentioning. the daughter of war is good at two things: being angry and fighting. she doesn't work or travel well with others, so it's probably for the best they left her behind anyway, regardless of all the shit with luke.
instead, she continues on with the conversation she isn't sure is really going anywhere. but it's better to talk about this than have him attempt to bring up the incident. ]
You ever learn to use a spear? Or were you too busy playing Noah's Ark?
video;
I'm almost as good with spears as I am with swords, actually. My old weapon, Ivlivs, had both spear and sword forms, but it got destroyed.
video;
And you didn't think to ask for that instead?

[ to have a private text sent his way is beyond surprising. he knows clarisse had slapped jason's head clear off his neck after he'd been gifted his shoes and his sword; he'd thought jason would've decided that luke wasn't the sort of guy he wished to be around. who would? after the shit he'd done, luke still doesn't understand why nico and jason had invited him along for a camping trip. ]
Man, I sure am popular these days.
[ he shouldn't type it, but luke's a little bit of a pusher. if jason can't see that he should be ignoring luke and casting him out, then maybe luke has to do the showing for him. after nico's invitation — and now jason's to talk — he's wondering if he pegged these guys all wrong. ]
[ but then he casts that thought aside. it makes things all the more complicated if he has. he thinks to answer via video or voice, but then chooses to stick with text; it's easier to mask himself if he has words to shape his manipulated meanings. ]
I'm all ears. Figuratively.

[he gives up on the sentence not even halfway through. he'd gone with text at first because he thought it'd be easier to face a potentially awkward situation that way. actually attempting it, however, it suddenly feels way too impersonal for this kind of thing. and fighting through the dyslexia to manage an important conversation is feeling less and less like a good idea too.
after a moment the video feed jumps back on, with jason looking rather abashed.]
Sorry, I guess this is easier. I just...I wanted to get your side of things. About the whole thing Clarisse was talking about.
[y'know. kronos and destroying olympus and shit.]
private video »
[ he thinks to keep it to text, but then he simply switches it to video. he's still capable of being annoying, even if he doesn't push his heels firmly into the ground when jason tries to drag him. ] You want to do this over video?
private video »
[he has sort of been avoiding luke (plus clarisse and nico) all week. whatever luke's self-loathing issues might insist about everything being his fault and everyone leaving him and etc, jason feels pretty guilty for not trying to talk it out sooner.]

[ since that's what luke assumes jason's hesitant about. that's what he is, right? to her, he's just a killer — beckendorf and silena lost their lives by his hand, even if he hadn't exactly been the one to detonate the bomb nor release the drakon. he figures the brush clarisse has painted him with — loudly, too — is the one jason does, as well. ]
I'll even leave Backbiter in my room. [ the sword that will destroy drabwurld when it's in his hands. isn't that what clarisse had said? there's a reason to fear luke now, and it's all because of the power in that sword. it's funny how he hasn't tried to tear the world apart, despite having it in his hands for days. ]

[ she remembers his voice from during the incident with the worms, and so addresses him with just a touch of warmth. otherwise, she remains distant -- but curious. ]

[at the very least, it feels more productive than just sitting around back at the castle. and the last thing you want is a group of literally adhd demigods getting bored.]
I think Nico said we're gonna hit up the Plains of Cathraon and the Pool of Souls this time. Should take us a little over a week if nothing happens.
