[jason once again appears on the locket network, this time appearing to actually be in one of the provided bedrooms of caer glaem. woah. he tugs idly at the collar of his shirt, new outfit helpfully provided by the fairies in place of his original t-shirt and jeans (those unfortunately all torn and dirty after the camping trip/worm hunt). it's a lot more fantasy than anything he's used to, but he's way too nice to complain about the clothes he was given for free.]
Hey. Just wanted to check in, I guess, before we head out again tomorrow. More exploring and all that.
[the hope, of course, is that they find something useful to the people stuck here, a way of getting home or something. getting a feel for the area and learning what kind of threats inhabited it was helpful too, though.]
It might be a bit useless right now, but I sort of made plans to eventually help someone learn to fight -- whenever we get back again, at least -- so I figured I might as well open the offer up to anyone else who's interested in it. I've got a lot of experience training people, and I'm used to teaching kids, so literally anyone is welcome. [a beat, where a hesitant look briefly crosses his face before he covers it back up with that cool, unshakeable praetor look.] Clarisse, if you wanna help out with that whenever it happens, I'd appreciate it.
[consider that a peace offering. or at least, an apology for accidentally arming your nemesis with a lethal weapon. he can think of no better way to appease clarisse than to give her the opportunity to show off her admittedly very impressive fighting skills.
that appears to be all he has to say for now, but he seems to fiddle with the locket for a moment before it cuts out for most people, working out how to send a message privately.]

[he gives up on the sentence not even halfway through. he'd gone with text at first because he thought it'd be easier to face a potentially awkward situation that way. actually attempting it, however, it suddenly feels way too impersonal for this kind of thing. and fighting through the dyslexia to manage an important conversation is feeling less and less like a good idea too.
after a moment the video feed jumps back on, with jason looking rather abashed.]
Sorry, I guess this is easier. I just...I wanted to get your side of things. About the whole thing Clarisse was talking about.
[y'know. kronos and destroying olympus and shit.]

[ he thinks to keep it to text, but then he simply switches it to video. he's still capable of being annoying, even if he doesn't push his heels firmly into the ground when jason tries to drag him. ] You want to do this over video?

[he has sort of been avoiding luke (plus clarisse and nico) all week. whatever luke's self-loathing issues might insist about everything being his fault and everyone leaving him and etc, jason feels pretty guilty for not trying to talk it out sooner.]
private video »
[ since that's what luke assumes jason's hesitant about. that's what he is, right? to her, he's just a killer — beckendorf and silena lost their lives by his hand, even if he hadn't exactly been the one to detonate the bomb nor release the drakon. he figures the brush clarisse has painted him with — loudly, too — is the one jason does, as well. ]
I'll even leave Backbiter in my room. [ the sword that will destroy drabwurld when it's in his hands. isn't that what clarisse had said? there's a reason to fear luke now, and it's all because of the power in that sword. it's funny how he hasn't tried to tear the world apart, despite having it in his hands for days. ]

[he'd already told nico as much too. even if not for the trust he'd developed in luke through their expedition and the whole thalia thing, he at least had common sense -- luke had had plenty of time to hurt someone if he'd intended to, both with and without that sword. if he was going to do something, he'd have done it by now.]
Look, just...come over, okay? Then we can talk.

[ nico's not exactly a problem. he's just a kid caught up between the kerfuffle, but he's still someone who has a grudge to hold against him. but if this is some weird intervention ... luke had wanted to remain as far away from these guys as possible, but with nico reeling him in, wanting to extend an invite into more camping, luke's finding following through with this plan next to impossible. (and now jason's baiting him to snag himself on a hook.) ]

Nico was here earlier, but he already left, and I don't even know where Clarisse is right now. It'll just be us.

[ he does think to bring backbiter, but jason's given him no reason to mistrust him. if he were dealing with clarisse, he'd bring the sword — and not for the sole purpose of using it in a bid to rile her up, but for protection against her — and if he were dealing with nico, he thinks he'd bring the medieval equivalent of a torch (since the kid is always hiding in the shadows). he arrives at jason's room almost thirty minutes later, having dawdled and second-guessed his decision to do this. but jason doesn't seem like a bad guy, not really — if he thought luke dangerous, as clarisse had been screaming into his ear about, he doubts he'd lie to lure him into his room nor want to meet him alone. he has lightning and flight at his side, but how quickly does that drain energy when compared to someone using a sword? ]
[ he knocks, a bang, bang, bang of his fist. ] It's Luke. [ open up. ]

Hey.
[for his part, jason looks a bit nervous, gnawing at the corner of his lip where his scar splits the skin. not worried that luke is dangerous, he did mean that, but even after everything that's gone down and how unhappy he'd been to be left out of the loop, he still can't help but feel uncomfortable prying into a clearly personal situation.
if luke had wanted him to know, he'd have said something before all this, right?]
action »
[ he takes a step in, and thinks to follow the thread of small talk, but luke's finding himself growing all the more anxious, despite that blanket of relaxation momentarily wrapping him up. jason's a good fighter — he's one that can easily put luke down with a mere spark of electricity, where all luke can do is prank — so he figures it's best to get this over with. steamroll right ahead into that wave that's bound to crash into him and drown him. ] I don't know how much Clarisse yelled at you — [ he'd heard select words that hadn't quite left him as the sting of her slap has, but he has an idea it's skewed heavily in the direction of luke being a destructive and traitorous asshole who jason should strike with a fierce bolt of lightning. ] — but for what it's worth, I'm sorry you got the brunt of it.
[ and he finds he truly is. this isn't an act of manipulation on his part. he's sorry to percy, he's sorry to annabeth, he's sorry to thalia — he's sorry jason ended up seeing the angry and ugly face of war a few days ago because of him. backbiter isn't jason's fault; clarisse so much as stated the sword was dangerous in luke's hand, not jason's. ]

[it's a pretty weak attempt at keeping the mood light, especially given how actually unnerving it is to be the target of clarisse when she's really angry, but he tries anyway, closing the door behind luke in a bid for privacy. that doesn't really mean much when nico rarely uses doors and clarisse would never let one stop her if she really wanted, but at least nico is tactful enough to give them some space until they're done, and clarisse isn't likely to want to come anywhere near luke anytime soon.
he crosses the room again to sit heavily on the edge of the bed, and looks back up at luke with an uneasy expression.]
So...yeah.
