[The locket is resting in the palm of Vanyel's right hand as he sits under a tree. His legs are crossed and his eyes are closed.]

No matter how hard I push, the barrier remains intact. [His eyelids open, revealing silver irises.] I have used every spell in my arsenal to test our colorful prison, but to no effect.

[Sadly, he isn't surprised.]

Do hot springs exist? I know I could put them to good use.

[How can he feel so old when he's so young? Rising and shifting the locket so his face stays in view, he stretches carefully. Old wounds are a pain.]

I would not wholly mind some company should I visit them either. The Tayledras are completely without shame where their hot springs are concerned. I promise to not follow in their footsteps.

[Meaning he will wear something instead of being fully nude.]

[With a smirk, he makes short work of pushing Stefen down amongst the tree's roots. A hard kiss will follow, but he quickly softens it, not wanting to bruise the Bard's lips.]

[He can't deny that he enjoys that very much, and he laughs a little when Vanyel speaks.]

Did I complain? My apologies.

[And he goes right back to kissing the Herald.]

[He grins into the second kiss, deepening it as he remembers all of those delicious ways to touch and taste. Without breaking the contact, he takes off his jacket and bundles it under Stefen's head. It wouldn't do for him to have a stiff neck.]

It's a good thing you apologized. [He murmurs, voice husky.] I would have disliked punishing you.

[He just laughs again, utterly joyful.]

Then I'm glad to have saved you the trouble.

[He rests his cheek against Stefen's neck, feeling the vibration of his laughter on his skin.]

I wouldn't have it in me to punish you.

Are you sure you should be telling me that? I could get away with anything!

But you wouldn't. [He drops a kiss in the center of Stefen's chest.]

[Stefen runs his fingers through Vanyel's hair a time or two, then shakes his head.]

No, I suppose you're right.

[A small groan of satisfaction follows that motion and the silver of his hair peeks out even more from the black strands.]

We're equals, Stef.

[He smiles.]

I'm glad to hear that. [Age difference notwithstanding.]

[The age difference was troubling until he felt the bond...and spoke to Stefen. There is nothing child-like about the Bard. Of course that doesn't alleviate his guilt where Tylendel is concerned, but things are strange anyway. For all he knows, this is a dream and -

When has he ever been cut off from Yfandes completely? Even his Mage Gifts aren't powerful enough to wake him - and that has never happened before either.]

I mean it. You can use me for support.
