[Peeta's trying to ignore the politics as best as he can, really. It's depressing to think that this world may not be as great as he thought it was. It's evening when he turns on the video, right after supper. He has a bit of white paint on his cheek.
He smiles at the camera.] I've met a lot of artists here. Are there anymore out there?
[He moves the locket so that it's pointing to a canvas. Painted on it is a very realistic painting of the moon, lovely and lonely-looking against a dark sky.] I've been working on this one today.
[He returns the camera to his face, looking troubled.] Do you think this world is better? Or worse? Or just different?
[He doesn't seem to want to offer up his own opinion, and closes the locket.]

[ she heard the A word!! ]
Have you really run into a lot of artists here? That's incredible. And so is that painting, wow. Where did you get your supplies?
Um, sorry, I'm kind of all over the place here, aren't I? I'm just excited.

What kinds of art do you make? Do you paint or draw or...?

[ she's totally a painter, but it feels odd trying to pinpoint that. ]
A little bit of everything. I'm a dabbler. I dabble.

That just sounds weird. ]
I think I get what you're saying there. That's got a way of happening sometimes! You think something's all hunky-dory and then it turns out to be evil and wants to take over the world or something. It's not great. It's also kinda depressing.

[She wasn't sure she knew any artists so skilled back home.]
To answer your second question--it's different. I'm no stranger to wars but without the familiarity of home, it's difficult to adjust.
no subject
Yeah, it can be. I'm sorry about the wars part, though. Wars are awful.

[She sighs]
Which is why I hope an end will come to this war soon. By peaceful means.

[ If you can call a whole lot of one-sided conversations anything. ]
He's not really the chatty type. The Man in the Moon, I mean. [ Shaking his head, eh. ] I thought I was just talking to Moon itself, but apparently there's a guy in there. [ Pausing. ] He gave me my name.

You really have magic back home, too? [He's kind of fascinated by all this magic.]

Yes to the first. I do photography, so yeah, I think so. [ he waves it off with his free hand. ] As for the second, I dunno, man. I like mine better, but that might have more to do with the people and places I love — and the running water.

Photography is neat! I wish I could try something like that.
[He's filing the second answer away in his brain.]

[He's sort of hesitant to admit it because he's not all that talented yet, he doesn't think.]
I can't do anything like that, though. That's really amazing. How long did it take you?
[And, on the heavier question note... Hiccup pauses for a moment to think, bringing his hand up to tap a finger to his chin.]
I think it's just different. I can't really say that it's worse or better, because... It's not. If that makes any sense whatsoever. It's just too different to really judge.

[He can usually do much faster, but he's been busy.]
Yeah, I could understand that. It's pretty different from my world.

I have some skill in painting myself. And in music.
[Her hair is silver like moonlight and she brushes it back and out of her face.] The moon looks a bit... lonely though, do you not think so?
[Elves.]
video
[He glances back at the painting.] Yeah, I guess it does. Maybe it's because I'm lonely at night, when I can't sleep. Just me and the moon.
[He smiles.] Sorry, but are you Galadriel's daughter?
