Video | Open to Seelie & Unseelie

[Peeta's trying to ignore the politics as best as he can, really. It's depressing to think that this world may not be as great as he thought it was. It's evening when he turns on the video, right after supper. He has a bit of white paint on his cheek.

He smiles at the camera.
] I've met a lot of artists here. Are there anymore out there?

[He moves the locket so that it's pointing to a canvas. Painted on it is a very realistic painting of the moon, lovely and lonely-looking against a dark sky.] I've been working on this one today.

[He returns the camera to his face, looking troubled.] Do you think this world is better? Or worse? Or just different?

[He doesn't seem to want to offer up his own opinion, and closes the locket.]

Ooo! Me! Me, me!

[ she heard the A word!! ]

Have you really run into a lot of artists here? That's incredible. And so is that painting, wow. Where did you get your supplies?

Um, sorry, I'm kind of all over the place here, aren't I? I'm just excited.

I like drawing and I like performance art, sometimes. I like filling up coloring books. I like using weird stuff to make things. I love creating things that end with me having painty hands. I like painting with huge, huge brushes, and just playing with colors. The more colors the better.

[ she's totally a painter, but it feels odd trying to pinpoint that. ]

A little bit of everything. I'm a dabbler. I dabble.

I'd say it's just different. I like home more because it's home and everything, but apart from kind of being kidnapped to get here, this place doesn't seem to have more or less good or bad things than I'm used to? It's not like any world's perfect, am I right?

That's a very beautiful painting.

[She wasn't sure she knew any artists so skilled back home.]

To answer your second question--it's different. I'm no stranger to wars but without the familiarity of home, it's difficult to adjust.

I think your Moon could do with looking more apathetic about everything in general, but that's just my personal experience with him talking.

It's similar to home. I know war and magic, what they call fairies, I know as Children. We live much like they do, though I've heard of... more advanced places.

Nah, just indecisive. [ grin! ]

I am all about sharing my art. Mostly because I really like collaboration? Painting huge murals with people, splitting a project with another artist. I like feeding off of other people's energy when I create things, I guess.

I mean, I have my own sketchbooks that stay kind of private, like a journal, but I imagine most artists do, right?

They are, very.

[She sighs]

Which is why I hope an end will come to this war soon. By peaceful means.

I don't paint. I don't think I could manage it as fine as what you have there. But my master always called our work art. I made this.

[He shifts his locket to show a helmet fashioned in the shape of a bull's head.]

[ a light laugh followed by a hesitant smile. ] Pairing the easy questions with the tough ones, Peeta.

Yes to the first. I do photography, so yeah, I think so. [ he waves it off with his free hand. ] As for the second, I dunno, man. I like mine better, but that might have more to do with the people and places I love — and the running water.

I, uh, sort of dabble in drawing.

[He's sort of hesitant to admit it because he's not all that talented yet, he doesn't think.]

I can't do anything like that, though. That's really amazing. How long did it take you?

[And, on the heavier question note... Hiccup pauses for a moment to think, bringing his hand up to tap a finger to his chin.]

I think it's just different. I can't really say that it's worse or better, because... It's not. If that makes any sense whatsoever. It's just too different to really judge.

Better. [It gave him his father back, and his sisters, who yet lived but so far out of reach and in dire circumstances.] There is hardship here, and strangeness, but it seems to me that their war is a small one, compared to those that I know from my own world.

Several, if you want the truth of it. Men call it "the war of five kings," and that seems to serve.

[The locket is shifted back to him.]

Half my life, I think. I don't rightly now how many years.
