[Hey, look at that. A step in the right direction. He was learning not to open his posts to the side that he was supposed to be fighting. And killing, if her royal glowiness had anything to say about it. Color him not impressed.

But, he was mentally digressing, the locket held in his hand and panned around his brand new shiny wizard's room.


He made sure to get everything in his little scan, showing off what looked like a chemistry set over on the table there and that glowing ball thing that hw as kind of avoiding because scary and everything that was just too cool for school about this room.]

Isn't this great? They gave me a room, totally warded and everything so I don't have to worry about causing earthquakes or setting anyone on fire. Well, outside of it. I could probably still set myself on fire. I'm trying to avoid that. Look, it even has my name on the door.

[Cue him going over and opening the door to show the stylized plaque that was adhered to the door with his name on it.]

Still not entirely impressed with being kidnapped and not being able to go home and the whole trying to kill me stuff, but this... goes a tiny way to making it better. Just a little bit. Ooh, look at this.

[The locket panned back over to a coat rack, where he'd hung up the cloak he'd found when he'd come in at first. It was a dark, dark red that had shimmery silver highlights when he moved it.]

I got a cloak. They're trying to make me a pretty pimp wizard. Hey, hey Radagast. Would that make me Stiles the Red?

[Have a beaming teenager as he turns the pendant around so he can grin into it.]

Um... yeah? Woke up last month with the staff and some books and, ah, yeah. Yeah, got some magic. But I haven't really been practicing much because some of it, um, yeah. Not really up for causing an accident or hurting anyone. Or myself.

I did make some potions, though. Ones that worked. You do magic too?

[brainiest]

That's incredible. I knew the King and Queen were powerful but I never imagined they'd be able to give someone magic. I wonder what the limits to their powers are, if there are any.

[ Not that she'd, you know. Go and ask. That would be rather... Rude. ]

That's progress! I'm a witch and I've been brewing some potions myself, thanks to my gift from the monarchs.

I have no idea. But I'm not complaining. At least I can do something now aside from, you know, flee in terror.

[Nudge nudge at his brain.]

A witch? You wouldn't happen to know a Ginny, would you?

That's always a good thing. There's no harm in learning self defence, but learning how to use magic to protect yourself isn't a bad idea either.

[ Ginny was certainly making friends, wasn't she? ]

Yes, actually. She's a very good friend of mine, almost a sister.

Yeah? Great. If you see her, tell her she owes me a ride on her broomstick. She promised.

Actually... I think she's gone. Home, I mean, not just - disappeared.

I guess that's a good thing. I mean, the more that go home, the better, right?

I suppose so. She's needed back there, but... I'm going to miss her, so much.

[ She sighs softly. One less friend. ]

I think she left her broom, though?

[He perked up at that.]

Yeah? You think she'd mind if I borrowed it?

I think she'd be glad someone would be using it. I hate flying.

[teenyoda]

Yeah?

[Hermione... you just became his favorite person.]

Think you could, ah, show me how it works?

[ She hesitates for a moment, looking quite... Nervous. Merlin help her (and, she thinks, almost laughing, he probably could) she hated flying. ]

... Do I have to ride it to show you?

Maybe? Just so I don't go flying into a wall or something. Like, just the basics?

[ ughhhhhhhhhhhhh... ]

... Alright. But I'm only going to show you! I was never good at riding brooms. I think they hate me.

[ THEY CAN SMELL FEAR. ]

Can brooms actually hate people?

No, not really. We were taught in first year to say "Up" to our brooms to get them to rise to our hands and mine... Just lay there. I think it knew I hated flying.

Right, so... some kind of subconscious magic thing. Okay, well, I totally want to try it, so think it'll listen?

[brainiest]

You actually want to fly, so... I think so. [ She smiles. ] Where do you want to practice?

[teenyoda]

I don't suppose there's somewhere that's got pillows all over the ground, huh?

[brainiest]

Don't worry, I can charm you so you won't get too hurt if you hit the ground. That's what we did at school.

[teenyoda]

Really? Okay, so you are so going to be my flying babysitter while I try this out. This is a thing. This is going to happen.

What kind of charms and stuff do you know? I only got a few books, but I'm hoping to get more.

[brainiest]

I won't let you get hurt, I promise. [ She moves and lifts up a bag, a tiny little beaded thing, before she smiles. ] I know seven years worth of reading, studying and teaching's worth of Charms and spells, and more on top of that, as well as Potions, Runes and defensive and offensive magic. I also have a lot of books with me.

Great, wonderful. You should totally come down here and show me some of this stuff you've learned. I need a bit more than bubbles if I'm going to avoid more stitches next time there's an invasion.
