text ][ viewable to seelie & unseelie

If anyone would like to go ice skating, please do feel free to join me in the unused gathering hall on the fifth floor of Caer Glaem. Skates can be provided for those who need them, as well as a quick skating lesson, if you've never had the chance to try before. I'll be here all day.

I hope to see you soon!

Oh, and don't forget to bundle up!

[ ooc: basically Elsa's taken one of the bigger rooms and froze it all over, so it'll probably look a little like this, only wider right yeah. big room. instead of putting up a log I'm just going to say go ahead and use this as an actionspam party post kinda deal, if you want! closed threads are cool ( even if they're not open to Elsa, though you can handwave that she gave them literal ice skates ), open to all that would have access to the Seelie castle. i just thought an ice skating party would be cute, haha. just label if it's a text reply or an action thread in the subject or whatever, yus ]

[Heart attacks are definitely had. The moment Jack pops into view, Hiccup jumps backward, startled, and nearly cracks his head against the wall as his back slams into it. Eyes wide, he stares at Jack for a long second, then puffs up his chest and narrows his eyes.]

Don't do that! [Like that'll actually get him to ever stop...

Taking a moment to catch his breath, all the while glaring up at Jack, he calms down and allows himself to focus on the question.]

Well, I can't exactly skate, now can I? [Scuffing his metal foot on the floor.] I'm pretty sure you got a demonstration of that already.
icy: there's nothing more fair. (it's rock-paper-scissors.)

[ Looking pleased with himself, Jack remains exactly where he is to carry on the conversation upside-down after giving Hiccup's leg a squint. ]

I can make it so you can skate. Do you trust me?

[Still eyeing Jack as he still hangs upside down to talk to him, the look turns into a squint at this new proposal. He can make skating possible? Hiccup doesn't see how, and while he feels like he has no real reason to trust Jack, he does know that the guy won't let anything really bad happen to him. He doesn't seem like that kind of guy.

Another scrutinizing look, then his gaze falls to the ice briefly, and Hiccup offers a slow nod.]

Yeah, I trust you. But I don't see what you can do about this.
icy: alan what did you do. (what did you do to the marshmallows.)

[ When he tumbles down it's in the manner of a leaf in the wind, light and agile as he rights himself to pace over. A pointy chin tilts to the wall. ]

Lean back and let me feel how heavy your good foot is. [ He rests his staff beside Hiccup, then crouches and up-turns a hand, waiting. ] I'm going to see how different it is to your other leg, then make up the difference so your weight's balanced.

[Gods, he's so jealous right now. Why can't he float and tumble all graceful like that?]

Uhh... Okay... [Still definitely questioning how this is going to work, Hiccup obliges, leaning back against the wall so he can prop himself up on one foot. Lifting his good one, he sets it in Jack's upturned hand and watches with a raised brow.] I still don't get it. How are you going to make up the difference?
icy: or enjoy a concussion. (stop drop and roll.)

[personal profile] icy 2014-07-03 12:11 am (UTC)(link)
[ Because life is cruel enough to have let Hiccup survive all these years. ]

With ice, obviously.

[ Giving the underside of a bulky shoe a pat, he gauges the weight and shifts his attention to the peg-leg, blowing onto it to crystallize ice and weaving it thicker with his hands. He needs no sculptor's tools but it's easy enough to slough off the bits he doesn't want, leaving enough air-pockets here and there so it isn't ridiculously heavy.

A minute or so along, Hiccup has an ice-foot of generally the same weight and heft as his usual one. Hands returning to his knees, Jack looks up. ]

Good so far? Next comes the skates.

[Oh, of course.]

Oh. Right.

[Obviously. Once he's got both feet back on the ground, Hiccup watches Jack even more cautiously, growing less and less sure of what to expect here. Even if he's just been told that it's ice.

Admittedly, he's...pretty impressed as he sees Jack work. Of course, there was never anything to worry about from the start, and he knows that, but still... Testing out the now-ice-foot, just shifting around for a few seconds, Hiccup finds himself nodding.]

Yeah, actually. [Sorry Jack, he sounds more surprised than he should.] Better than I expected with ice. --Not that I didn't expect it to work. Just. ...Yeah. Yeah, all good.

[He's ready for the skates just as soon as he quits his babbling.]
icy: hard not to let you in. (this foolish heart.)

You talk a lot, you know that? Chatty little guy, aren't you.

[ Jack trails two fingers underneath Hiccup's feet, real and icy, and a pair of blades appear there, stuck to the soles. He rises and steps back, offering his hands (one hand and a staff-gripping wrist, really) to help him balance. ]

Need some help getting out there?

[ As much as he loves the rush of adrenaline and literally flying by the seat of his pants, causing a ruckus as Elsa would say, he's all about helping kids find their niche in wintertime too. ]

I get that a lot, actually...

[He's never really learned how to shut up. Watching as Jack creates literal ice skates out of thin air manages to get him quiet, however. For the brief moment it takes, anyway.]

Uhhh... [Tentatively taking the offered hand and wrist while still staring down at his feet, Hiccup doesn't have to think about that for long.] Probably, yeah. I'd rather not faceplant just trying to get on the ice.

[Hahahahaha he's totally joking, that would never happen ever if he tried to get out there on his own. Nope. He'd be totally graceful.]

That'd--yeah, be good. Thanks.
