Hey. With everyone preparing for war, thought I would make an offer. Name a monster you want and I'll tame it for you. I need a favour equal in return. You want something simple, it's simple return. Harder and I need more for it. Make an offer if you're interested.

Tell me about the beasts of this land. I need to hear from both courts. What monsters do you know about? The more in-depth, the better.

I'm not too picky. A little bit of money is fine. Doesn't have to be much, just enough to say I was paid. If I can't tame it, no need to pay me either. This is mostly a service thing, so the price is negotiable.

[That and he just really likes hunting monsters anyway. It's a good way to test his abilities.]

If they're happy is up to you. Monsters are just like humans in a lot of ways, once you get past the 'monster' part.

[He whistles and a small fairy flies into view, peeking at the locket before hiding behind Aster's shoulder.]

That's Ciaran. She likes sweets and sleeping on books. I figured it out, so I made her a book nest and add sugar to her food. Keeps her happy. But even if she wasn't happy, she'd be loyal to me. I want her happy though. She deserves it for serving me loyally, even if that's how the magic works.

With the way Íde is, I suspect she won't be very happy if I bring her into battle. I think I may need to ask for another mount for combat.

Can't help her personality. But I had an idea for that anyway. You're coming out with me for it though. You can pick which one when we find them.

Yep. Technically, because I made the pact, they're mine, but the last order I give them is to be loyal to you instead. Fun way around the pact that works. I've tried it for a friend and his are loyal to him.

A tamed beast has their uses. Topo's been perfect for getting around this place fast. Some people need beasts for protection. Others could use them for scouts.

[It's the word "monster" that really catches his attention and causes him to stop long enough to hear the rest of the message. He's used to having all the money in the world to buy whatever he wants, so having a system that relies solely on favors? It's dicey.]

How simple is simple? Like what qualifies as a simple monster?

One that's easy to catch. Look at this way: I caught two for my friend and the hard one was the damn fairy. The Ceffyl Dwr practically came willingly. Monsters all have personalities too so it's unpredictable.

That all said, it's not like I'll ask for a lot for a hard fairy. It's fairy. I'm doing this as a service anyway so it's not going to be a lot.

The mist-horse thing, right? [So descriptive, this one. He's done a little bit of reading about the monsters in this world to have a vague grasp of what's out there.]

Pretty good service you have set up then. [A pause follows.] Let me ask you this. What if I wanted something that wouldn't be afraid to venture anywhere in the world, even the Unseelie territory? You know. Something that can act as transportation and also as a line of defense. Does a monster like that exist? I'd say the Ceffyl Dwr's perfect but it's mist. Not exactly ideal.

So much as I love my horse, a swifter steed would be of great benefit. I know there are some here in this land that can take to the air too. Do you know of them?

There's two flying horses that I know of. A Ceffyl Dwr can be ridden. They're made of water and mist but they solidify for their rider. The other I know is a cleg. I haven't tried that one yet but it's like a pegasus if you know those. They're rare so it might take longer to find one.

I do not know much of either, forgive me. I would have to defer to you on which might make a better mount. Whichever is hardier, I would say, since they are likely to face battle while in my care.
