[ Some crunching can be heard. It's late, there's not going to be much of an explanation here, other than Alice's hands look very bad, in bruises and cuts. She continues on like it's nothing. She looks up to the imp and frowns. ]

Or a dustpan. I know this is a pain without a lantern, I'm sorry. Use a handkerchief so you don't cut yourself, alright?

[ Sometimes she feels bad for this imp. Alice goes up to cleaning broken shards of glass, ever so carefully, using a basket as means to pick up pieces. With a huff, more to herself- ]

This is the last time I ever-

[ She stops, of course, to notice the locket is open and shoots a look up to the imp. ]

Don't even think about it. I'm not in the mood for this, it was an accident.

[ With a mutter, Alice's hand goes over it and the locket is promptly clamped shut. Should anyone ask, she'll shift it to voice after getting the rest of the mirror cleaned up. ]

[ Fate has a really funny way of reminding her of things that cause her pain. Of course it has to be someone who reminds her a lot of the White King. She was just thinking of the Pale Realm. ]

It'll be alright, I'll just tend to my hands after we're done cleaning up this mess.

[ A soft tsk and he raises an eyebrow at the state of her hands ]

[ She's going to make sure her imp friend doesn't get cut before she does. ]

[ Since she can't remember how exactly she smashed the mirror with her own hands. ]

[ Grey eyes watch her carefully ]

[ The silence on her end may as well be an affirmation. ]

It will be alright, we're almsot finished.

[ Alice insisting she take on most of the work, of course. ]

Have a care to yourself as well, little butterfly. You look tired. I am sorry we could not get to you sooner, but glad that you are safe again.

[ Not him, too. ]

... You knew all about that nonsense, too? [ That makes her look even more stressed. ]

[ It certainly doesn't help with the guilt she feels over it. ]

... I've joined in a number of campaigns with my friends and I-

[ No, she wasn't as strong as the others. Alice, rubs her face; that's a little hard to accept more than she thought it would. ]

Even so - did you think your big heart would not be noticed gwilwileth? You have touched many lives here - it should not be surprising that many love you in response.

[ This is still very hard for her to accept. She's scared that it will be ripped away from her and she'll be the same, sickly girl she was back in London. Alice sniffs, nearly bursting into tears. ]

Aye, you do. And for that you have won the hearts of many little butterfly. Dearly loved you are and great was the rage when you were taken. Reynard is fortunate you were returned unharmed.

He was going to harm others, he had to be killed.

[ She says this knowing that it sounds just as cruel. Alice gives a small sigh, sinking her face into her hands, still very unsure how to take his words. ]

He did. [ Alice, think about who you just said that to for a moment ] I would have killed him myself, if I had had the ability.

And it is never over. Not so long as the Rulers play their games - but I am glad for the nonce you are safe.

I doubt that the monarchs would have let him continue on the way he did, anyway. He was a threat to their rule and their courts.

Oh that is certainly true enough, but one never knows what path they might have walked should the opportunities have been there. Reynard was a threat to everyone, truly.

You're a wise man for staying out of these things.

[ Alice turns and lets out a scoff. ] Not like me.

[ A shake of his head ]

Wise? No. None of the Feanorionnath have ever been that. Say tired, rather, for I am weary of all this nonsense. Your heart is yet open and kind, Alice - mine froze a long time ago. Only have a care, little butterfly, for that kindness is both a strength and a weakness.

[ That even sounds like something her father would say. ]

Not all of it is nonsense, Mr. Maglor, it affects all of us. How can you say you are not wise? I think you're one of the wisest men here.

Oh little butterfly. How little you know of us. Wisdom lies in my cousins but, not, I think, in us.

But I will call it nonsense that sets kin against kin, for the sake of a disagreement between family. I have lived this tale once before. I know how it ends.

I'm sorry that you have to be dragged through this.
