I need a broom.

[ Some crunching can be heard. It's late, there's not going to be much of an explanation here, other than Alice's hands look very bad, in bruises and cuts. She continues on like it's nothing. She looks up to the imp and frowns. ]

Or a dustpan. I know this is a pain without a lantern, I'm sorry. Use a handkerchief so you don't cut yourself, alright?

[ Sometimes she feels bad for this imp. Alice goes up to cleaning broken shards of glass, ever so carefully, using a basket as means to pick up pieces. With a huff, more to herself- ]

This is the last time I ever-

[ She stops, of course, to notice the locket is open and shoots a look up to the imp. ]

Don't even think about it. I'm not in the mood for this, it was an accident.

[ With a mutter, Alice's hand goes over it and the locket is promptly clamped shut. Should anyone ask, she'll shift it to voice after getting the rest of the mirror cleaned up. ]

It's only a mirror. You aren't superstitious, are you, Alice?

[ Alice cringes. She shoots the imp a look, but she has too soft a heart to scold her. ]

Nonsense. I don't believe in superstitions or any of that silliness.

[It appears Alice may have punched the mirror to death.]

[ That's exactly what happened, but she's not going to say it outright. ]

[ Fate has a really funny way of reminding her of things that cause her pain. Of course it has to be someone who reminds her a lot of the White King. She was just thinking of the Pale Realm. ]

It'll be alright, I'll just tend to my hands after we're done cleaning up this mess.

[She hesitates for a moment, then,]

Would you like assistance?

I don't have a broom, but I can lend hands.

[She doesn't wish to push the subject on the locket; she doesn't know how to lock such things, either.]

[ A soft tsk and he raises an eyebrow at the state of her hands ]

Have a care for your hands, Alice. Have you gloves you might wear?

[ She pauses, glancing over her room and then down to her. She's in a shawl and a nightgown, which has her flustered.

Well. Better another woman than a man. The only that that makes her fret is the state of her room. It's chaotic, there's drawings and sewing supplies all over. ]

[ She's going to make sure her imp friend doesn't get cut before she does. ]

I'm using a handkerchief. It works just as well.

[ SUPER AWKWARD since he knows she's not exactly fond of him, but- ]

If you get the handkerchief wet, it helps pick up the small pieces.

[ Weary, for sure, but that would be an understatement. She glances up to the imp, shifting away from the ground and to her small bowl of water to take that advice.

What does she do? She hands it to the imp, of course, not herself. ]

Here. You heard him. Be careful.

So long as you are careful. [ He tips his head at her thoughtfully ]

What happened?

An accident, I'm sure.

[ Since she can't remember how exactly she smashed the mirror with her own hands. ]

I'm making sure my friend doesn't cut herself.

It probably won't get all of them, unfortunately, but it'll help.

[ He's careful to include that first part, just in case she decides to yell about Seelie treachery later or something. ]

The imps seem to like you.

[ She may be an Unseelie, but Alice is exceptionally kind to the imps rather than yell at them for their misgivings. Besides, her little friend here was obviously concerned. ]

I don't yell at them, I treat them like the individuals they deserve to be.

[ Grey eyes watch her carefully ]

[ A small nod ] And that is good, but have a care for yourself also, gwilwileth

[ The silence on her end may as well be an affirmation. ]

It will be alright, we're almsot finished.

[ Alice insisting she take on most of the work, of course. ]

Where is your room?

[Vanessa just needs an address.

And soon enough, she's there. She is dressed in her own nightgown and dressing gown, hair wild and down about her shoulders.]

Alice?

[Miss Liddell would be more appropriate, but she has a feeling a first name would be better, now.]

Yeah, that doesn't seem too common.

[ Not that he's super fond of the fairies himself, but they're not vermin. He has a feeling both the imps and the fairies get treated like they are a lot. ]

[ Not to worry, Alice is also a little more modest.
