[dawn has a fairly mixed expression of boredom and restlessness when the feed first turns on. see it's already been two weeks since her arrival and while she was initially nervous or otherwise cautious of all her surroundings and activity on the network at first, she's at the point where the boredom is unbearable.

so it's time to take matters into her own hands and find something fun to do. drabwurld, ready for some q&a?]

Okay, okay. I like that we can walk around freely and don't have to pay a dime for bed and breakfast or even some large bill for talking to people on this magical locket - but there's more fun things to do around here than that, right?

[she pauses, but then she feels she should elaborate further just in case.]

Stuff that teenagers do, I mean. Less mid evil training for fun and more twenty first century fun, like the places to shop or video games or whatever. Anything at all?

I know not the state of it now, but the Station seemed to be where more-- [She doesn't have the word for modern, though people who seem to not fit into this world are generally clumped together.] one can find those things, to shop and the like.

Oh, I keep hearing about that place. But the things I hear don't seem to fit with everything else I seen... [and until now she didn't really believe what she basically eavesdropped on in passing. color her interested if it is all true.]

There had been an attack there, so much of it needed to be rebuilt. It wasn't the place of commerce it usually is I was told. [After fleeing for her life, it was better than the alternative.]

[she's completely wasting away is more like it...or so it's starting to feel that way. and card games aren't really going to really help, she decides, and so her mouth tug downward at the edges with the suggestion given to.]

That's exactly the problem. Cards all the time will be the end of me.

I do know about...a place. A place that could be worth going to. Maybe.

[He offers uselessly, recognizing her accent as being American. This in general tended to indicate to Gendry a kind of uselessness that plagued an entire world of people who seemed barely capable of surviving in this world. She was old enough to have already learned a trade, but Gendry presumed she likely knew nothing at all.]

[Very American, indeed. She understands that it is probably normal to find work at her age for whatever century of people he comes from, but she's not from his century so she gives him a look.]

And how does that fit into the definition of fun?

What's the use of fun? You do a hard day's work, then anything will seem fun after. There ain't not use lazing about.

[Not in the least. Especially not wise cracking, sarcastic ones not so dissimilar to herself. She crosses her arms.]

[So stern, Dawn! It's a shame all it does is make Lumina giggle, swaying from side to side as she 'thinks' about it.]

Mmmmmmmm...nah. But watching everyone else run around because of it is pretty fun.

I've always been busy with chores and I never really had many friends, so I don't know what people do for fun. I'm sorry. [He is sort of aware that was a depressing statement but it's just an apology on why he can't help her.] What do you like to do?

Me? [She blinks, because first off it's not everyday that she is put on the spot with what her interests are by strangers -- and by a boy no less. But she did open herself to being asked and it's not like she knows him enough to crush him or it's any huge secret so she attempts to answer as little awkwardly as possible.]

Lots of things, I guess. Music, video games, shopping, food... Pizza is good... And hanging out with friends too, but none of them are here.

[she's just repeating what she's heard from another source, but really? seriously no games? the disappointment is clear on her face.]

[You know what, Dawn... there's way too much in the way of humanoid replies to your video. While you might be rather used to the vampires and assorted uglies of Sunnydale, had you encountered many gryphons?

Others have made mention of the Station, I see... There is electricity there and the inter-net. I believe there are... Compu-ters? [She was still trying on many of the unfamiliar words.] There are also Masquerade balls and assorted events held in either Court that might hold interest to you?

If you go to the Station, you should ask for Dave Stutler... he had many such machines at his disposal.

[Or maybe Zhaneel was just incredibly partial to him. She flicks her ear tufts forward as she speaks, her gaze expressive and curious.]

[At first...it is so much of surprise to see a talking bird of all things that she instinctively moves her head back. She blinks at her locket and her eyes look for signs that maybe someone else is hiding, playing a joke, only to soon realize that none of the sort is being played.

It's another moment before she accepts it and actually turns less surprised and more amazed with the situation. A talking bird was so much like-]

Whoa! ...uh, wow. You're like a real living, talking Salem, except for the not being a cat part.

[ she can't be bothered to work out the getting there details. like this horseback riding thing she is doing, being ferried elsewhere. ]

There's supposed to be some party at the Barrel in a few days. That's "fun", is it not?
