Good day.

I'm afraid a mistake has been made. As I understand it, it's the Seelie court which should seek my loyalty, and yet I have found myself among the Unseelie. I intend no offence to members of either court, nor disloyalty to the court I have been placed with, yet it is a perplexity. Simply put, I am left to wonder if this was indeed the intent and there has been no confusion, or if my own confusion is sound. It's...troubling, for reasons I apologise for not detailing.

Similarly, I'm looking for a friend, most likely among the Seelie, if present. He's about seventeen, Japanese, and you'll know him for a foolish innocence and investment in justice. Better still, being terribly easily flustered.

[Giving a name would be better, and it does make it apparent this friend is his Master, to anyone in the know, but it is still even just a little bit safer to keep Tatsumi's name secret. He can't jeopardise the boy's safety.]

Ah, one more thing. I'm a doctor, therefore if anyone is ever in need of medical attention, I am always available, particularly for those outside the courts who may not have access to their infirmaries. I should note, however, my practice may not be up-to-date for some. Although I do promise I don't suck. [He laughs lightly.] -That's right, a name would be helpful, wouldn't it? I suppose it's best to continue with Berserker for now, although I am aware there is another by the name. If that name holds meaning to you, I believe it's important we speak. Perhaps more privately.

You mustn't speak of it, of course. It was a mistake, a scientific experiment which did not work quite as intended. Rather, more the opposite.

What would the opposite have been?

The elimination of the qualities he represents and distorts to an obscene extreme. I hoped the formula would separate the good and evil in men, so as to remove the evil. Certainly it separated them, but instead created another self, far more wicked than my own petty evils.

For the good of the world. Without that desire to do evil deeds, so many of our problems would be solved. At the most extreme, it could lead to a world without wars. At the least, a lack of crime. Who wouldn't end such horrors as murder and assault if they could?

And you thought that would end well? Humans are always tampering with things, but I think you might have won a sort of prize.

Of course, what sort of person you are would rather color that even if it had worked, wouldn't it? What you considered to be good or evil. Did you plan to ask people if they would agree before you cut away parts of themselves, or were you going to do it all on your own, judge and jury?

I had no intention of administering the serum to unwitting people. There is a reason I used myself for the experiment, after all. Had it worked, I would have my proof and present it to my fellows of The Royal Society. Explain its workings, from there we would determine what should be done. You must understand, our society was entirely built upon seeking goodness, and presenting oneself as entirely moral, no matter secret transgressions. I'm certain, had it worked properly, it would therefore be well received. In theory it would be something like a vaccine for influenza, a simple task. I had not thought terribly far ahead, simply hoping to see if it could be done, first.

Hm. Knowing humans, I doubt it would have ended simply, all the same. Many people wouldn't have wanted that. But other people would have wanted it. They would have come into conflict, wouldn't they?

Were you afraid of the parts of you that you tried to get rid of?

No, I wasn't afraid of my darker side, only ashamed. It was never anything of much importance. In fact, most would hardly have bothered to hide the things I did, or thought. I only found it difficult to reconcile with the ideal I set out for myself.

At least you avoided having to see how that would turn out.

Hm. Being ashamed of things you did...I can't understand that at all, sorry. That's a human emotion. You have very strong beliefs, don't you? Even ending your own life. Though I'm not clear on that part.

I take it you're not nearly so human as you seem, then. I suppose it's rare immortals would be. But then, I'm not human myself, anymore, yet still feel the same way. Did he tell you of that, my death? I simply chose suicide over the possibility of becoming him permanently, which was becoming startlingly real.

I am not. I never have been. And he mentioned that he killed you both, although I do not see how it is you are alive in that case. I'd wondered if you were immortal, somehow.

Then you've done me one better.

No, not immortal, exactly. Resurrected through magic - summoned, rather, as the Berserker class of what is called a Servant, a sort of familiar. Truly I am only a soul, this body is less than half the age I was, and can be made to disappear. I have a duty to protect my summoner, and so if only for that reason alone, I have no such ideas.

Ah. So Berserker is not your name, but your designation.

Technically, yes. Unfortunately, I am forced to rely on him in many ways. However, he holds a strong dislike for my Master. My fear is Hyde would kill him, in some way or other.

I have no preference. Berserker is fine, Jekyll or Henry are equally acceptable. Those from my own time know me by my true name.

You must forgive me, as I have little recollection of Hyde's goings on these days. Some, but not so very much.

That's fine. He mentioned something like that. What do you remember about our conversation?

Hm... That you would exchange information, and a sense of amusement, mostly. He was painfully annoyed in the first few moments, though. Something of immortality as well, though little information came of it.
