Are the women in this world and your own given as much opportunity to defend themselves as the men?

[ she doesn't wait for any answers, giving a humorless snort of laughter at the locket before continuing. it's not a directly related addition to her question, but it's certainly on the same train of thought: ]

Ridiculous that those already holding power are given the privilege of training to the highest levels of their skills, but those most in need of it are left to rely on the protection of others.

[ thomas has not been a common presence on the network since his arrival to the drabwurld; gaining the ability to talk telepathically with the people who've been close to him have made it fairly easy for him to communicate without it. but this time, thomas addresses the network at large, although only with a (perhaps semi-familiar) voice.

he sounds uneasy. tired. ]

Do any of you have nightmares? How do you deal with them?

[ it's a stab at anonymity, mostly because he doesn't want to show his face, but the storms currently raging over head have not made his life any easier. thomas sleeps fitfully, twenty minutes at a time, wakes up screaming. no one's going to see his face as an effect of that. eventually, he tacks on a soft--]

[This message comes a few days after the new influx of arrivals. Still roughly two weeks after the original call to arms he put out, but give him a break. He needed some time to actually settle in at Redgate without all the Reynard shit to deal with.

To the newer folk who wouldn't have seen him before, the individual appearing on their lockets is a rather young man, blond and golden-eyed behind lavender-tinted glasses, pretty in a decidedly feminine way, currently seated in what looks like a private office.]

I wanted to thank everyone who in some way aided Redgate, during the recent events. Almost everyone went their separate ways fairly quickly after the incident in the ocean, and I can't blame them for just wanting to get back to their lives, but I do regret being unable to do anything to properly show my gratitude before that. Funds are still a little tight here, with the mines still inoperable after the dragon situation, so I can't offer much in way of a reward. But Redgate owes a debt to all of you -- I owe you -- and I'll do what I can to repay that debt, somehow.

[Aaand there's that obligatory noble gesture out of the way. Better, definitely, if he can deal with that debt on a more personal level and save Redgate itself any trouble.]

With that said, I thought it was only right to make a general announcement of the current situation, after raising such a fuss earlier. It was -- as anyone who's dealt with Reynard might have guessed -- a trap. The Fox did what he could to rid himself of those of us there at the time, and he and his daughter stole the bones of Lady Alyosha's kin. They failed to kill anyone, thankfully, but they still managed to escape.

[Beyond that, he hasn't heard much of what's up. Some people have cities to run and can't go running off across the map on a Fox hunt. But he certainly looked unhappy to have to report it, and with a sigh and a slight shake of the head, he moves on.]

That all aside, I see there's been another batch of new arrivals. I'm sorry you all had to arrive during such a mess of a time, but if any questions remain that I might be able to answer, I'd be happy to try to help. And know that Redgate is open to you, regardless of your court.

[The feed turns on to a fairly sizable room in what's easily recognizable as the deep purples of Caer Scima. The room itself appears to be in certain disarray. The bed's been pulled off its bed posts and tucked in a corner of the room, books line the sides of walls, but most notable is that the young man who inhabits it seems to have collected various plants he could find wilting around the nearby lands. They seem to be surviving just fine now, but the young man's attention is on the shakkan, a miniature tree, and bags and bottles before him.

He raps a tattooed knuckle on the wood of his work place, the flowers beneath the surface of his skin changing colors. If the viewer watches they seem to move and change forms on their own accord, somehow the don't appear painful to the young man who's gray-green eyes slip from the tree to the locket. Suddenly, his lips curl half upwards in an amused smile when he begins to speak.]

Here I thought I'd never meet someone bleatbrained enough to chase after a animal that's practically revered as a god. Are all you little forest critters back to normal or are you still learning your lessons?

There's a lot of talk going on around here and they seem to be the same. I could easily ask if anyone knows a way home, but that's been asked a few hundred times. I don't think it's that easy. Nothin's easy when you involve magic and Bags too greedy for their own good. Has anyone even tried teaching them a lesson on good manners?

[He jabs lightly as serious as he is joking. Briar knew a thing or two about emperors and kings no matter what names they took. If the decided you were their playthings they'd keep you there as long as they could. You couldn't trample headfirst into their gardens without expecting to be noticed.]

Forgive my crankiness, winter isn't my season and I was supposed to be accompanying my sisters back to our country after a harrowing summer of court in Namorn. I was looking forward to returning to my own gardens. As that seems to be out of the picture for now, I'd like to offer services here.

I'm Briar Moss. We'll let the name speak for itself. [His smile turns somewhat mischievous before he continues.] I'm a gardener first and a producer of medicine second. Harvest is just about ended, but I can still encourage your plants to grow fast enough to feed a village if needed. Or if your a Lady with an eye for flowers I can help crossbreed you a flower no one else has a claim to.

For medicine I've been trained by the top Dedicates in Winding Circle Temple for about six years now. I can strengthen any medicine you have if it's a plant-basis so it'll work for years longer than you'd expect it or produce more willowbark than you'll know what to do with. I have a pain-relieving ointment that will make some of the nastiest cuts heal up in a day or so and the bruise will go away in a week.

That's just a little of what I can manage and I'm willing to help anyone so long as you pay. If you buy in bulk I might even be able to discount it, but forgive me as starting out I'll have to rebuild my own supplies. If you need medicine but don't have anything to spare I'll even accept learning about the plants in your homes. I'll be traveling soon, so if you tell me where I'll find a way to bring anything you might yearn for.

If you have any questions or concerns I'd be happy to assist.

[ the voice that can be heard is full of nervousness and skepticism ]

Alright, then. I know this is working, it worked for everyone else, no reason it wouldn't for me - aside for the matter that I do not know what I seem to be doing at all -

[ but then, video! at first you might see only freckles and then she'll step back and you'll see a young woman with dark curls, a purple, flowery dress and one bottom lip that seems to be busied between her teeth. ]

-- Greetings to both courts, I have heard there are two. I hope there are not more and if there are -

[ she might be offending someone. oh no. she'll take a quick yet graceful curtsy ]

to those who can hear - see! me. My name is Gunievere - Gwen, really. of Camelot! I - the fairies -

[ the fairies. this is so unsettling ]

I was told I was brought here to help. I will do all that I can but I - I am but a maidservant. I do not know what I can do, truly but whatever you might need of me, I am in your service.

-- They will send us home when our duties are through, will they not? I have other.

[ erm ]

duties! at home. I am already in the service of a Lady and she might be unsettled with me being gone.

[ and morgana being unsettled is bad news to all ]

--- It's nice to meet you all, I'm certain. Whatever I can do, truly.

[ There must have been another feast. Word of it has traveled to her ears as well as talk for a hunt. Both are events that draw some concern, but don't affect her goals, therefore they are better ignored. What she could do is make an attempt to reach out to shardholders, old and new, and possibly make a bit of coin in doing so. That's why when she greets everyone, it's with a pleasantly polite smile and the decor of the Castle Mair behind her. ]

What a busy month. Are they all like that? [ She waves a hand as she speaks as if to brush off the topic. ] It may have gone unnoticed, but as the Master of Archer it's only proper to inform you that he took his leave earlier last month of this world. If he had any debts, you may approach me with proof of this and I will conclude his business.

Speaking of paying off debts, my workshop is ready to take costumers. My specialty is conversion magic as well as command over all five of the elements. [ Her expression is rehearsed and composed, much like a teacher addressing a class full of idiots. ] In short, I can do a number of things many others don't advertise they can do. It seems pointless to keep my status as a magus here a secret when the world is surrounded by magic. Though it would be nice to learn something useful like shooting a bow...

[ She mutters that last part. ]

Anyway, speak with me about what you want and I'll arrange to help you if I can. We can sort out payment, favors, and IOU's later, especially if you're new to this world. I'm flexible.
