first kill ⚔ video (seelie & unseelie)

[with many trial and errors, jean finally managed to figure out how people video record on this thing!!! not that he even knows what a video is other than people actually moving on this... this fancy looking locket. but whatever, the point is that he finally managed to get it figured out!

well sort of. okay so he still might need to work out a few kinks when it comes to using this thing. but he got this for the moment! or at least he thinks he does. anyway- the video starts off by being to close to his beautiful face. he looks at it curiously before murmuring quietly to himself. he then adjusts the space between himself and the locket a few moments afterwards and finally comes up with something decent.] This is stupid. [sigh!!]

Alright, I've got a question I want to ask but never really got to ask when I first got here. Thank you Titan Worms. [ssssssuuuuure someone might have mentioned it's actual name to him, but ehhh. this worked out just fine.] But anyway, I was kind of curious to know if anyone knew anybody that was brought here but is dead in your own world? [he pauses.]

Like, I've got this friend who's here, and he died in my world. But.... It's like he doesn't even remember dying in the battle we were fighting in. He remembers fighting in it, but he doesn't remember fighting a Titan by himself. Anyway, I was wondering if something like that happened to anyone else that's here. [he backpedals a little, because oh yeah. marco can probably see this shit.] I mean- it's not that I don't mind that he's alive here! Like I said before, he was one of my best friends back home, and I'm sure we'll be able to slip back in to how things used to be between us. But.... I don't know. [he grumbles quietly as he runs his free hand down his face.]

Is this sort of thing normal here?

[ Maglor, for his part, prefers that his brother does not see this conversation, but oh well ]

[ here, have video of a man who can't be over the age of 30. Graceful, elegant and almost feminine, but for the set of the jaw, and delicate pointed ears. ]

Perhaps if I were mortal this might be true, but I am not as you stranger. Eldar I am, who changes not with the march of time. Eighty years is but a drop in the bucket to us, and yet it has been too long

[ Maglor's eyebrow crooks up in amusement, and perhaps a little grief ]

Are we become that so swiftly then? Only stories told to children.

We are Eldar, the people of the stars - but Men have always called us Elves, and perhaps that is the more familiar word for you. Our lives are tied to that of Arda, the world that is - and so we may be slain but we die not, so long as our world exists.

We call ourselves the people of the stars, for they were the first things our forefathers saw when they first awoke on Arda, and so we love and revere their light, which was so long a constant guide in our lives. [ Maglor corrects calmly, wondering sadly how swiftly they have become forgotten ] And we do not age and die as Men do, but we may be slain, like any other - by blade or poison or grief - yet our souls are bound to Arda, and when we die we go to the Halls of Waiting in the west, there to await our release in new bodies.

The ears are often said to be a distinguishing characteristic of my people, aye, although there are others as well. Are there no other races on your world?

Not forever - but until the world ends, aye. And I confess I do not know how to equate it - Men are for us fleeting, wonderous and strange, where all the Ages of the World stretch before us. But truly it was said that we would grow weary of the world as with a great burden, and become as shadows of regret. I never envied Men, until now.

Not yet. The Doomsman has spoken of such things, and so we know that it will, one day. But when that day will come no one knows, nor what will come after, but they say that there will be a Second Music, and perhaps all things will be made new again.

[ a soft snort ] Do not envy us, young master. We live longer, but aye, it wears on us, and I am bound without escape to my sins. Our world has been at war the last seven hundred years and what peace may come to us now that war is over I know not.

[ Maglor shrugs, fluid and graceful ] He is the Doomsman - the one who sees most clearly the way the threads tangle and the notes of the Song fall. Our world was created in song - the First Music, the Powers call it. And they say when it ends a Second Music will begin, that sets all things to rights - of all of them, Namo sees the furthest, and so he is the Doomsman, and also the Judge.

Then we should perhaps stop envying each other eh? [ Maglor crooks a small smile, but it is a faint, faltering thing, and drops swiftly to a more somber look ] I grieve to hear that it is so, and rejoice that even in another world the courage of Men holds true.

[ Maglor shakes his head ]

Tis not his part to fix our mistakes, merely to judge us and meet out justice appropriately. Whether he holds jurisdiction over the souls of Men I know not, for the fates of our kindreds are sundered, and only the One knows where the souls of Men go when they die.

Lord Namo sees without bias or clouding, so he may judge fairly. [ Maglor shrugs a little ]

You truly do not know of the One? Ah, but forgive me, your world is not mine, I suppose. The One is Eru, who we call Illuvater - the Father and Creator of All, who was before all things and from whom all things spring. Men and Elves are the offspring of His thought alone, and not part of the themes sung by the Valar when they shaped the world, and so we are the Eruhin, the Children of the One, and our fates were set by him from the beginning - Elves to be bound to the world, Men to seek beyond it.

Maglor laughs softly "Oh aye, important indeed! Mm, not as such, no. Our choices are our own, for good or ill - not even Eru Himself will or can force us, and to seek to suborn one's will is the province of the darkest of magics. Say rather our ultimate fate - what happens to us on the death of our bodues - is decided by our kind

[ Maglor hums quietly in agreement ]

No, I suppose it would not. But we are given free will, and so... [ he shrugs ] I suppose it is... akin to hearing a familiar tale, for one such as Lord Namo or even, dare I guess it, Eru Himself. He knows what will come, but he cannot (or will not, perhaps) affect it, and the characters move to their own wills.
