Is this some form of scrying stone? How curious. And I'm to talk into this?

[She turns to look at a pixie, one who's hovering near her head and giving her directions on how to use the locket.]

And one can address everyone this way? Marvelous.

[The pixie tells her that it's on and that currently everyone can see her and she eyes the locket again, wondering at how this particular bit of magic works.]

Greetings. To those that do not know me, my name is Maleficent. I'm curious to see if a girl has wound up here as well. Golden hair, blue eyes, and quite likely charming those around her. Her name is Aurora and if anyone has seen her, I'd very much appreciate being informed of this.

[She looks to be about to turn the locket off, but there's a small twitch of her lips as she begins talking again.]

I suppose I'd also like to be informed if anyone finds a raven who is not a raven. He's incredibly cheeky, but he's also mine.

[And that would be the end of her speech. No need for pleases and thank yous. Someone's clearly used to being obeyed.]

[This seems like a riddle. Jon never was much good at riddles.]

What's a raven like, if it's not a raven?

[That question has quite a lot of possible answers depending on Maleficent's mood, dear boy. Fortunately for all parties involved, she's in a good one.]

Well, I suppose he could be a man. Though, I'd be quite amused to see him as a wolf again, even though he despises it.

[Jon's eyebrows go up and nope, he doesn't even know what to make of that.]

A raven that's a man and a wolf? He must be some bird, my lady.

He is whatever I need him to be, though he's a raven first. One who thinks he's quite clever.

[Perhaps he could be, but if he were truly clever, he'd be here right now instead of who knows where.]

[Oh! Those are beautiful wings. Merida seems a bit hypnotized by them for a minute or so before she shakes herself out of it. Is this a faerie? It certainly seems like it, but she saves those questions for later. The riddle has her curious, and it shows in her Scottish brogue.]

A raven not a raven? What does that mean? [Was the raven like her mother? A man transformed into a corvid? Then again, this was the girl who had yet to solve the riddle the witch had given her with the two sunrises deadline.] I can't say I've heard of an Aurora, but I'll keep a look out.

[The Brucolac responds after dusk, his voice dry and scratchy.] Try asking the birds. They've been garrulous lately. Might want something in return, though.

[Ah, another human, though she was just as surprised by the riot of red curls as the girl seemed to be with her wings. She hadn't ever seen anything quite so... voluminous. It was fascinating. The brogue, however, is closely familiar to the speech of Stefan and those of the kingdom filled with humans. This is something she is not surprised by.]

Well, I suppose it means he could be in the form of a man arriving here, though I can't be sure.

[The offer to keep an eye out for Aurora is met with a smile and a nod.]

That would be helpful. I believe she's around your age.

Have they? Well, I'll certainly put the inquiry to them if they're deigning to be helpful in some way or another.

[Birds were always very chatty creatures, she'd found, though the idea of humans chatting to them made her wonder if they were at all like the birds she was familiar with back home. Ah, if Diaval could talk with a beak, she'd never get any rest.]

[It might not be immediately clear that Aubri is a gryphon -- the locket's "camera," as it were, is a bit close-in.]

I do not know anyone called Aurora, though I will keep my eyes open -- nor have I seen a raven, but I have seen plenty of not-ravens.

[Aubri's a little cheeky himself. Maybe it's a bird thing?]

[She does not know a gryphon to gauge him by, the creatures not existing where she comes from, but she does see a familiarity in feathers and beak and the pinwheel eyes.

The cheek, however, is entirely avian and very familiar. She gives him a sly smile and nods.]

It would be most helpful. Now, what sort of not-ravens have you seen? I expect quite a few, but I'm more searching for a bird who might be a man at the moment, if you desire a bit of clarity.

A bird who might be a man. [Aubri sits back and taps a talon alongside his beak.] Well, no men have told me that they are also birds and no birds have mentioned that they might also be men.

But if he has not told me, then maybe I looked right at him and never knew the difference.

You've tried calling him with treat of boiled egg and cheese? Your bird.

Oh, I imagine if he saw someone like yourself, he'd be curious enough to make a nuisance of himself. He is a raven, after all.

No. Why in all the worlds would I do that?

And ravens are a nuisance. I know that well.

They're also highly intelligent and somewhat useful.

[Now, now, Aubri. Only Maleficent gets to say bad things about her birdy.]

Intelligent enough to be somewhat of a nuisance, should they not wish to be useful.

Are you expecting a message? The lockets can serve the same purposes as a raven here.

Not unless someone has seen either of the persons I've mentioned.

[Because Diaval had indeed become a person over almost twenty years of being with her.]

What would that have to do with looking for a raven?

Oh, he's generally a nuisance, but he's also useful enough that it makes it bearable.

Ravens care for both. You might be in enough luck to see him called.

I've no need for treats to get Diaval to come. He serves me of his own will.

Haven't seen either, but I'll keep my eyes open.

Ravens all look mostly alike -- is there a way to tell yours apart?

Well, I suppose he wouldn't be as flighty around humans as your average raven. And he might be particularly nosy. It's a specialty of his. If he's not a raven, I'm sure he'll make his complaints well known.
