[Have a curiously peering fairy, Drabwurld. It's a close up of one oddly colored green eye before it's drawn away and the rest of the face comes into focus, along with the horns and large wings as a backdrop.]

Is this some form of scrying stone? How curious. And I'm to talk into this?

[She turns to look at a pixie, one who's hovering near her head and giving her directions on how to use the locket.]

And one can address everyone this way? Marvelous.

[The pixie tells her that it's on and that currently everyone can see her and she eyes the locket again, wondering at how this particular bit of magic works.]

Greetings. To those that do not know me, my name is Maleficent. I'm curious to see if a girl has wound up here as well. Golden hair, blue eyes, and quite likely charming those around her. Her name is Aurora and if anyone has seen her, I'd very much appreciate being informed of this.

[She looks to be about to turn the locket off, but there's a small twitch of her lips as she begins talking again.]

I suppose I'd also like to be informed if anyone finds a raven who is not a raven. He's incredibly cheeky, but he's also mine.

[And that would be the end of her speech. No need for pleases and thank yous. Someone's clearly used to being obeyed.]

Oh, I imagine if he saw someone like yourself, he'd be curious enough to make a nuisance of himself. He is a raven, after all.

And ravens are a nuisance. I know that well.

They're also highly intelligent and somewhat useful.

[Now, now, Aubri. Only Maleficent gets to say bad things about her birdy.]

Intelligent enough to be somewhat of a nuisance, should they not wish to be useful.

Oh, he's generally a nuisance, but he's also useful enough that it makes it bearable.

Likely you will if he's found himself here as well. I think a large speaking bird will draw his attention all on its own.

Will it? And would a gryphon draw his attention as well?

I suppose that all depends on what a gryphon is.

I suppose it would. I have heard some describe us as having the body of a large cat and the head and wings of a large hawk, but we are far more than simply the sum of our parts.

A cat and a bird? Wouldn't you find yourself at war with your own nature?

[That seemed an ill match to her, but the creature was hardly nipping at his own self.]

As I said, I am more than the sum of my parts.

So it would appear.

[And now, of course, she was curious to see this creature that was more than cat or bird.]

[He sounds every bit the old, forgetful bird - he knows very well what he has and has not said though.]

Not unless you've said it in bird, which I don't speak.

Nor do I. [He almost waits to see if she'll ask -- but there's also a sense of preservation about him. He doesn't want to push her too far. Most people are not the most emotionally stable upon arrival here.] My name is Aubri.

[A nod and a notation to remember the name. Whether she'd actually use it or not was debatable.]

Are gryphons one of the fae where you hail from? You certainly aren't human.

I have never heard us referred to by that name. Gryphons are a created species, given life by the mage Urtho.

[curser]

A construct?

[Well, that was certainly curious. The closest she'd come to anything similar was her brambles and other grown bits that seemed to carry sentience in an almost mimicry of Balthazar and his kin.]

And you function without your makers? How lovely.

[bird_brain]

We function quite well without our maker.

[curser]

Then your maker did well in his work.

[It was a compliment, Aubri. It took a lot of magical know-how to not only build something with sentience, but to make it independent of the creator.]

We hold a great deal of respect for Urtho.

[curser]

It's a shame he didn't come with you. I should liked to have conferred with him about this.

[Aubri's expression tightens.] I would give a good bit to see him again myself.

I have heard that there is a good chance that one can meet an assortment of friend and foe here, if they've received a shard. Perhaps your Urtho is one such party.
