Video - Unseelie/Seelie
[The locket screen shows a blonde with slightly mussed hair and a skinned chin. Her eyes are wider than they normally are and it's obvious to anyone who's seen panic that she's trying to fight back a little of it right now. She also has her back to a door, one that she seems to be trying to keep closed.]
Okay. Okay. Um, I did not sign up for this, okay? Okay. There are... things out there. It ate one of the little flying guys. Then there were more and then it got bigger and then...
[Then she found her leg being caught and pulled and she'd tripped and bumped her chin and kicked at it until her shoe fell off and she was freed. And now she needed a new shoe.]
It took my shoe.
[This is very important, guys. She now only has one shoe and can't run properly.]
I don't suppose anyone has a... thing that can make them go away, do they? Maybe a really bright flashlight? Or... crap, I don't know. Anything?

Um, Unseelie?
no subject
[She might hear him breathing a bit quicker, now. It's because he's running.]
'M in the cellars.
You'd be surprised at the number of pickle jars down here. And pickles.
[And pickled pirates.]
no subject
[Sure. Easy conversation for waiting to be rescued by a... sot.]
no subject
[He is fast, is Jack Sparrow. A good runner. He's nearly up to the second level, now, bounding up lots of cold stone steps. He's collected another item in his travels: an imp, captive, struggling under his arm.]
Very handy place, the cellars. Good hiding place.
...
You still have both your feet?
no subject
So far yes. I even have my sock. It just got my shoe. Do I want to ask why you were hiding in the cellars?
no subject
[He's on the last flight of stairs now. Shouldn't be long, Veronica.]
Ouch. Bloody imp! [It has bit him, but he still retains a hold on it.]
no subject
[Not that she's found them to be overly cheerful, but at least none of them had bitten her.
Yet.]
no subject
It's a useful thing to have, darling, because of the shadow-monster.
[Ah -- there's the proper hall. And that door with the shadow outside must be hers. The shadow is larger than normal. It must have merged. Blast.
What Veronica probably hears through her door now are sounds of an imp being fed to a shadow beast while the pirate pounds on her door.]
OY! GIRL! LET ME IN, DARLING! 'S SHADOWS OUT HERE.
[Unfortunately this is when three other shadows choose to show up, their needle-teeth glinting.]
...............Uh oh.
no subject
So she unlocks and cracks the door open, seeing the first shadow monster chewing on the imp (eww) and more coming to join it. Crap.]
That's your idea of help? Get my shoe!!
no subject
[It's not something he really wants to touch at this point.]
no subject
[When this was over, someone owed her a shoe.]
You coming in, or are you just going to sit there and mourn the shadow-poop in my shoe?
no subject
Smells like burnt treacle. [Shadow-poop, he means.]
Darling, I hate to point this out, but there are more of them out there and they mean to eat you.
no subject
Very helpful. No, really.
[She just sighed after that, head back and thudding against the door after she'd closed and locked it. Then she got a good look at him. Oh yeah, totally a pirate.]
Don't suppose you've got some kind of... magic woo-woo powers or something to make them go away? Or to get us out of here?
no subject
[Cue finger-waggle.]
no subject
no subject
Apparently no. There was a magical word, but it escapes me at the moment; a magical word to banish them.
[he looks toward the window as the wooden planks of the portal shudder against his shoulder blades, wondering whether all of the shadows have now combined into one monstrous beast.]
Not good. But all is not lost, tiny one! We may defenestrate ourselves to good purpose.
no subject
And then the rest of what he said filtered through and she just gaped at him.]
Are you seriously suggesting we throw ourselves out the window? We're at least three stories up. Three castle stories. I don't know about you, but I can't fly. Or float. Or bounce.
no subject
[Pardon him, Veronica -- he thinks he has just remembered the magic word.
He hasn't. Or not quite.]
We'll simply tie together the bed linens. I've done it hundreds of times. LICK! LUCK! LICKAMERCY!
no subject
[The shouts of licking mercy had her giving him the weirdest look before she went over to go look out the window.]
Well, good news and bad news. Good news; there's no broken glass or pitchforks or burning tar pits under the window. Bad news; it's really, really far down.
[Not that she had a problem with heights -- as long as she wasn't falling from it.]
Look, I appreciate you coming to help me, but there will be no mercy licking here, thanks.
no subject
LIKE-A-MERCY!
[No. He relinquishes the door and hurries to the bed, ripping sheets off. No use looking out a window. It was better not to look too hard.]
Linens! Get me linens, girl!
no subject
[But she's scrambling over to the bed, pulling off the sheets and heaving them over to him at the window. What? He didn't tell her to tie them.]
no subject
They CAN probably reach the second floor of the castle, though, and that might be enough.]
Never heard of him. Trying for the magic word, child. It's escaping me on account of I'm beslobbered with rum. Lacka-something-something. Mercy. Something.
no subject
[She went over to the window to look down, seeing the same thing he had. Not long enough. Shooooot.
The door thudded again, harder as the creatures seemed to have melded together into mega ultra lawkamercyme and she looked at the sheet.]
Ah... you sure you tied that right?
no subject
no subject
So she gives him a look like... 'WELL????']
