Video - Unseelie/Seelie
[The locket screen shows a blonde with slightly mussed hair and a skinned chin. Her eyes are wider than they normally are and it's obvious to anyone who's seen panic that she's trying to fight back a little of it right now. She also has her back to a door, one that she seems to be trying to keep closed.]
Okay. Okay. Um, I did not sign up for this, okay? Okay. There are... things out there. It ate one of the little flying guys. Then there were more and then it got bigger and then...
[Then she found her leg being caught and pulled and she'd tripped and bumped her chin and kicked at it until her shoe fell off and she was freed. And now she needed a new shoe.]
It took my shoe.
[This is very important, guys. She now only has one shoe and can't run properly.]
I don't suppose anyone has a... thing that can make them go away, do they? Maybe a really bright flashlight? Or... crap, I don't know. Anything?

[But she's scrambling over to the bed, pulling off the sheets and heaving them over to him at the window. What? He didn't tell her to tie them.]
no subject
They CAN probably reach the second floor of the castle, though, and that might be enough.]
Never heard of him. Trying for the magic word, child. It's escaping me on account of I'm beslobbered with rum. Lacka-something-something. Mercy. Something.

[She went over to the window to look down, seeing the same thing he had. Not long enough. Shooooot.
The door thudded again, harder as the creatures seemed to have melded together into mega ultra lawkamercyme and she looked at the sheet.]
Ah... you sure you tied that right?

So she gives him a look like... 'WELL????']

[Hear that? That was doubt. Lots and lots of doubt.]

Grab hold of me, savvy? Now is the time for evacuation. Expedient evacuation.
no subject
Right. Sure. Expediate away.
no subject
But really, Veronica, there is so MUCH on him to grab. Hair, beard, sash, belt, bangly things, lapels, collar, shirt, coattails, arms, waist. You are spoiled for choice, young lady.
And if she hesitates too long, he's just going to grab hold of her under one arm, their makeshift rope with the other, and make the leap out the window.
There is a shattering clatter at the door.]
Any time, now. Anyyyyy precious time, now.

There was an embarrassing squeal as she felt them drop, oh god, they were going to die. She didn't want to watch herself splatter, so she clung onto him instead.
Meaning she didn't see the wall coming up to meet them as they swung into it. Guess who hit it first.
No, really. Guess.]
Ow!
no subject
That's going to leave a mark, I expect.
[He positions his feet against the stone wall and tries to run them across to a nearby second-floor window ledge. Who knows whose room it belongs to; the point is to get them off this bloody wall.
Unfortunately, his efforts come up just a little short. It's also rather hard to concentrate when there is a raving shadowmonster leaning out the third story window you just defenestrated yourself from, slavering and leering down at you with its needle-teeth all agape and its shadowy appendages swinging around improbably.]
You're going to have to reach, darling. Grab hold of that window.
[She probably already realized that, of course. Hopefully.]
Lockamercy!
[Wrong.]
no subject
Don't drop me. You drop me and I swear to god...
[Just... she wouldn't even finish that, that's how bad it was. So much pain. Glowering at him as a threat, she slowly started to reach out for the edge of the window, fingers crawling along stone as she put more and more of her upper body out into the open to try to reach it.
Just about.... Almost....]
sorry for being so late I got sick :(
/wraps up in blanket
Got it.
no subject
If only he could remember lawkamercy me. And soon -- the shadow-thing is beginning to shimmy down their escape sheets!]
no subject
Come on.
no subject
Well done, darling. Should probably remember that magic word about now. Might require a blow to the head.
no subject
If you're lucky, it'll still be attached after this. Come on, let's see if the window's op-- whoop!
[The window was indeed open and she found that out by falling into the room.]
no subject
.....Going to be all purple with bruises, you.
no subject
[She's on her back, looking up at the ceiling of another room that isn't hers, squinting at the outline of Jack against the window. It takes her a minute (ow, her butt), but she manages to pull herself up, dusting herself off.]
We're a floor down. We should be able to get out the door. Right? They can't be on all the floors.
no subject
They CAN be on all the floors, actually. But I'm telling you, I know a word! A magic word what undoes them fully! It's just on the tip of my tongue, child. Somewhere.
[Meanwhile, it might be sort of interesting to rifle through the drawers in this room...he starts wandering toward the dresser, a giant, violent, medieval-looking wooden object that might in fact be torturing socks and all other manner of clothing even as they spoke.]
no subject
How can you not remember a magical word that saves your life. Or my life, since it seems to want to bite my head off.
[What was he-- was he going through someone's sock drawer? Honestly. She moved over to the door, opening it a crack and peeking through.]
Coast looks clear.
no subject
There is something slavering just outside the window.]
A clear coast is always best for a safe landing. You go first.
no subject
[Not that she expected anything more. And the noise coming from the window was making her twitchy, so she opened the door enough to slide through, keeping an eye out for anything and seeing... an empty hallway.]
Looks good. Come out and close the door.
