001 | Video | Open to both courts
[ The video shows a young woman, her face framed by slightly wavy hair the color of rich soil. Unseen is the weight of many centuries that lie upon her strong shoulders, and would make her ancient rather than young in the eyes of some.
Her large, hazel eyes are sharp as those of a bird of prey as she fixes them upon her locket. ]
I am Lady Sif of Asgard, my allegiance is to my king and my home, and much as the rulers of this court seem to wish it, that will not change simply because they imagine themselves to have some manner of claim on me.
Do not think me craven, I have no fear of battle, but I will not seek it out merely because a stranger tells me that it is my duty.
So I put the question to you now, my fellow recruits: Why do you fight?

They called her their White Lady, and I wonder if any truly knew her. In our youth long ago white would have been the worst color for her, for she was always in our shadow - following us to the hunt and learning bladework despite her father's misgivings. She was bold and brave, ever seeking her next adventure. Her arrows were as sure to the mark as any of the best hunters of our people, and she could ride like the wind. She had a fire to match my brother Celegorm's, but mostly the wisdom to temper it. Her one failing was her stubborn wilfulness...Although that could be said to be true for most of my kin.

What happened to her?
private voice;
She was wild and free, and her brother in seeking to keep her safe, set her in a cage unknowing. She rode out, as she had always done in our youth, but the lands of our adulthood were not the safe ones of our childhood - her escort was taken, and she fled, until she wandered into the forest of Nan Elmoth, and there became snared. There was an elf there named Eol, and he took her to wife, some say, unwilling. She bore him a son, so perhaps there was love there, of a sort, but she left, in the end - returned to Gondolin, and her brother. Eol followed but... Gondolin's law was that none who entered might leave, lest their secret be betrayed... Eol... refused. He attacked his son with a poisoned blade... and she took the blow.

[ There is genuine sympathy in her voice, much as her question is put rather bluntly. ]

[ Sif is not a gentle woman, but she is not without kindness. ]

[ She does not sound suspicious or annoyed, she is merely not as prone to waxing poetic as Maglor is, and is not sure what he is asking after. ]
private voice;
What is it like, where you are from? Are there many as brave and bright as you?

Are you truly set amongst the stars then? Your city must be high indeed.
