[ The video shows a young woman, her face framed by slightly wavy hair the color of rich soil. Unseen is the weight of many centuries that lie upon her strong shoulders, and would make her ancient rather than young in the eyes of some.

Her large, hazel eyes are sharp as those of a bird of prey as she fixes them upon her locket. ]

I am Lady Sif of Asgard, my allegiance is to my king and my home, and much as the rulers of this court seem to wish it, that will not change simply because they imagine themselves to have some manner of claim on me.

Do not think me craven, I have no fear of battle, but I will not seek it out merely because a stranger tells me that it is my duty.

So I put the question to you now, my fellow recruits: Why do you fight?

[ The voice on the other end is tired and weary but quietly so - that of someone pushed right to the very edge of endurance, but not yet over ]

They care little for your will, you will find Milady. The rulers here will do as it pleases them to do so - we are but pawns on their boards. And not all those here wish to fight at all - some of us grow weary of battle unceasing.

Of Asgard? The same one that Thor and Loki are from?

We do not all still fight for the monarchs. But even so, some of us have been told of a cause great and just, offered willingly the help and aid, only to find ourselves fooled and with no way out.

[ He doesn't sound bitter, merely determined now, weary yet proud in this all. What had happened the night before, it still sits with him, still haunts his mind. ]

Some now stand the neutral ground and look beyond the courts and into the world that surrounds.

[ And the great pain and suffering of it the Seelie and Unseelie both bring to it. ]

Rulers will always do as it pleases them, the question is ever if what pleases them is the good of their realm or the good of themselves.

What do you do, then, when you grow weary of battle?

Is there any other?

Ah now, that is the question is it not? They will say, if you ask, that they fight for the survival of worlds. Whether you believe them now...

Oh, they will be everything you wish them to be, so long as you serve your purpose here - mother and father, queen and king, dear companion - whatever is needful - and they will offer great and powerful gifts. I have no doubt in their own ways they do care for us... but only so far as we remain useful.

[ So someone sounds very bitter ]

I? I run. I have always been good at passing unnoticed. The world is small, but it is wide enough to hide in, if you wish to.

Not that I know of.

[But it hasn't been that long since Steve found out about the existence of that one. Even less time since he's learned that fairies and vampires and dragons are real-]

Let's just say I've learned not to assume anything.

And what do you find in that world?

[ She would be willing to hazard a guess. If there is one thing that she knows it is War, and what it does to the people and realms ravaged by it.

She might revel in the glory of battle and the way a good fight makes her blood sing in her veins, but what she fights for is peace, and it brings her no joy to see the suffering of those who pay the price of warfare whether they choose to or not. ]

The only thing I need from them is passage home.

[ And she might get it, too, if she wins this battle for her court. But that seems an awfully high price to pay even for something so important.

Asgard needs her, but how can she serve it with honor if she bathes in the blood of innocents to return to it?

Enemies she will slay without hesitation, but she has no quarrel with anyone in this realm. Not yet at least. ]

And I am not overly fond of running away.

[ Though she will, if it becomes necessary. Sometimes it is the only strategy available after all. ]

That seems wise, in a place like this.

[ Speaking of which... ]

Thor and Loki, you know them?

[ Because if he's a friend of Loki they might have a problem. ]

Mmn, and that is the one thing they will not - they will even tell you they can not give you. Unless, of course, you win their war. [ Someone thinks they are all full of crap, but he's too polite to actually say so. Although it is probably obvious by his tone of voice ]

Many are not. Yet I have fought and fought and seen everything that I ever loved burnt down to ashes, and I grow weary beyond all enduring.

Life that needs protection, people who need guidance, lest they perish in the fires of this war that razes and ravages all around it.

[ A just fight, with lines of it drawn loud and clear, Legolas can give his aid in. But it is not the case here at all, there is no honour in this war as he has learned already in the few months he's been here. No honour nor justice, the people pitted against each other knowing not exactly what they fight for. And fighting because they find themselves with no other choice.

One great manipulation to make all do as the monarchs wish them to do, and Legolas, for his part, no longer will allow himself to be used in this manner. ]

The clans native to Drabwurld have asked my father's aid in uniting them when he announced his desire to build a home for all those who do not wish to take part in the foolish quarrel of the Seelie and Unseelie. A third choice to live in peace instead, until such time comes that we may all return.

He may be gone now, but his word is my will, and what he promised I will carry out.

Yeah, I know them. I fought beside Thor right before I got here. Against Loki.

[The slightest of hesitations before he says those last two words. Because he's thinking the same thing if she's a friend of Loki.]

[Wow, she's hot, is his first thought. But listening to what she says...something catches his attention beyond looks, so he'll actually respond]

I'm still pretty new, so that could be why, but I haven't of a good enough reason to fight. I mean, they claim if we win their war, they'll send us home- but I also heard this war's been going on for thousands of years.

But you're from Asgard? You don't mean Sylvarant's Asgard, do you?

How long have you been here?

[ Sorry Steve, you might have to educate Sif about the whole "people can come from different points in time" thing because right before she got here she helped bust Loki out of Asgardian prison so that he could help his brother stop Malekith so she might end up a bit confused by the answer to her question now. ]

For the glory of battle, of course! And perhaps the spoils.

[She is a simple princess with simple needs, okay.]

The Seelie have need of my assistance, and I was promised the chance to wage grand battles against a worthy foe. I would be a fool not to fight!

[She is also a princess who sounds far too fond of this war to possibly be healthy]

You are a woman after my own heart, Lady Sif. [Galadriel would prefer not to fight, in other words, and is still working on figuring out a way around this.]

I've been wondering that, for my own sake. Certainly seems like a battle of two very different sides, but what they particularly gain from winning, that seems to be the hard thing to discern, doesn't it?

[Formalities for formalities, and she offers a welcoming smile before getting right to answering the question with a serious look.]

My wish is to defend others who may not wish to fight or find themselves here despite being unable. To defend my home, and all other worlds.

[She's been asking around about their purpose, among other things.]

A couple of months. Why?

[He'll do his best. Sometimes he's still amazed to see his best friend alive and well here after seventy years and one hell of a fall.]

[Made curious by her posing such a question to all locket-bearers, he first gives her a nod.]

Fíli. Well met, Lady Sif. [A pause.] You'll find more than a few others among us who share your views, I would imagine.

We all have someone we want to protect, Lady Sif. What better reason to fight is there?

[ Especially if the person you want to protect is yourself. ]

You have my greetings Lady Sif. In answer to your question, I do not. At least I do not fight who the the courts tell me I must fight. I will not take sides against those who I have sworn friendship or loyalty to.

[Especially since she has people she cares about who are on both sides of the fence so to speak.]

I fight to protect those that need protecting.

[He has an intensity in his eyes that speak volumes of his words.]

I don't care what side anyone's fighting on.

I don't.

[Short, sweet, and to the point. He's not going to fight for anyone, except maybe himself.]
