[ Allison's first ever post on the network is her sitting on her bed, a large bow sitting on her lap. In her hands, she's got a single arrow, green and white fletched. She's toying with it as she talks to the network, and she looks a little proud but mostly sheepish. ] So I guess helping out those fairies was a good thing.

[ She clears her throat. ]

So, since I want to try it out... I was just wondering, anyone want to go with me? It's always more fun to practice with someone else.

[ She reaches out to turn the locket off, but remembers something! ] My name is Allison, by the way! I haven't really introduced myself on here, yet.

[ There's a small, kind of self conscious wave, and then she shuts the video off. ]

[ of course the bow pings clarisse, because she's the daughter of ares and that comes with a love of all weapons, even if she doesn't particularly like the bow all that much. the bow is too long range for her taste; she's more of a mid to close range fighter, her weapons of choice being a spear, a sword, and her fists. she'd actually just prefer to shoot things with guns half the time, but the monsters she was trained to fight don't go down from just being shot by regular bullets. why they can't just make celestial bronze bullets is beyond her, and beckendorf died before she could really try to sell the idea to him. ]

Not my favorite kind of target practice, but it's not like I've really got anything better to do. I'm a little rusty on my bowmanship, anyway.

[ Allison perks up. ] Yeah? What else do you do?

[ ahaha it's really more a question of what doesn't she do... which is pretty much nothing when it comes to weapons, though she does hold a strong bias toward her spear. ]

I prefer guns, but those aren't exactly commonplace around here. Technically wasn't allowed to use them back home, anyway, at least not at camp, but when your dad's the god of war, age doesn't really mean jack when it comes to private target practice. [ not that she ever really got to go to ares' private gun range more than a handful of times, but... technicalities. ] 'Course, it might take all day if I tried to list of every weapon I know how to use.

[ And, wow, that is a lot of information to take in, not the least of which being the 'when your dad is the god of war'. Allison sits there for a moment, in not quite stunned silence before shaking her head to clear her thoughts, because really, Allison, how weird is that when back home your dad kills the boogey man and your ex boyfriend is dating a Japanese fox spirit? ]

My dad's weapon of choice is the gun, but I actually prefer archery. I use knives, sometimes, too, but I'm better with the bow.

[ clarisse nods, a little impressed. ] Your dad has good taste. Archery isn't really my thing [ don't get her started on the apollo cabin. michael yew is her mortal enemy right after percy jackson. ] but it's kind of required to learn, and it's not like I'm not good at it. I just prefer guns. Or a spear. That's technically my dad's weapon of choice. And mine too when medieval weapons are all we've got.

I've never really handled close combat weapons, before. I use a pair of Chinese ring daggers when I need to, but I kind of prefer ranged combat. It's something I'd like to learn, though, when I have time.

Well, I can teach you anything whenever you do have time. [ master of all weapons and combat skills, that would be her. ] But for now, I wouldn't mind shooting with you. Like I said, it's been a while since I've used a bow. You could probably teach me a thing or two. [ except that once she picks up the bow the instinct will fire in her brain and it'll be like she hasn't gone months without using one. she's a natural, but she can pretend like she's not for five seconds. ]
