[ Allison's first ever post on the network is her sitting on her bed, a large bow sitting on her lap. In her hands, she's got a single arrow, green and white fletched. She's toying with it as she talks to the network, and she looks a little proud but mostly sheepish. ] So I guess helping out those fairies was a good thing.

[ She clears her throat. ]

So, since I want to try it out... I was just wondering, anyone want to go with me? It's always more fun to practice with someone else.

[ She reaches out to turn the locket off, but remembers something! ] My name is Allison, by the way! I haven't really introduced myself on here, yet.

[ There's a small, kind of self conscious wave, and then she shuts the video off. ]

Aye, I am. [He looks a bit sheepish at the admission. As divided as their courts are, it sometimes slips his mind that the sorcery of the locket should allow them to speak to people from both lands as easily.] I ought to have asked that first, I suppose.

[overdraws]

[ She smiles at him. ] No, it's fine. I just didn't realize I was broadcasting to both sides. If you'd like to meet up here, that'd be great.

[baseborne]

I would, whenever you have the time and desire for it, my lady. I have not much to do here, I'm afraid.

[overdraws]

Are you busy now?

[baseborne]

Not at all.

[overdraws]

Do you wanna meet up?

[baseborne]

Aye, I'd like that. Do you use the training yard, or is there some other place for archery that I've not found?

[overdraws]

The training yard is perfect. I'll meet you there soon?

[As promised, Jon does arrive shortly, plucking a simple but sturdy yew longbow and a quiver of arrows from the yard's little practice armory before stepping out into the sunlit space. He may have forced a strict regimen of archery practice on his men after the Battle for the Wall, but in truth he preferred the sword and had gotten lazy about it in his own daily trips down here.

When he spots her waiting, he approaches.] Lady Allison?

All good! Let's do it!

[overdraws]

[ She's examining her bow, the finely wrought one given to her by the elves, running her fingers down the string. She turns when she hears her name, and smiles. ] Just Allison is fine.

[baseborne]

[He smiles back, though it's a bit small and looks awkward on his sullen face, and gives a small bow. Enough to be courteous.] I go by Jon Snow. [He nods towards her fine bow. curious.] Have you studied archery for long?

[overdraws]

Just since I was little. I think I was ten? When dad first got me started. [ She runs her hands down the bow, glancing down to the single arrow on the ground. ] It was one of the only hobbies I had that I was good at and that my parents didn't think was useless.

[baseborne]

[Jon does a poor job of hiding his surprise at that. If anything, his little sister with her fascination with fighting had spent her whole life hearing that hobbies such as archery were useless for little girls. Spearwives were... different, of course, but this woman does not seem wild enough to be a spearwife, by his reckoning.] ... What hobbies did you have that they didn't approve of?

[overdraws]

[ She laughs a little, but not at his surprise. She still feels dumb, sometimes, for liking this stuff. She wasn't any good at it, anyway, in her mind, so there was no point in dwelling on it. She shrugs, fiddling with her bow string. ] It was nothing. Just poetry, art, stuff like that, I wasn't any good at it.

[baseborne]

[He looks at her a bit like she's got an extra head, then.] ... Poetry and art were what they thought useless? [That's what she said, obviously, but if Jon weren't raised to be so polite he'd probably stick a finger in his ear to make sure he's not hearing things.]

[overdraws]

Yeah. I guess they wanted me to have tougher hobbies. [ She grins, and it's a little self deprecating. ] So I took gymnastics and archery instead.

[baseborne]

[Jon doesn't exactly know what gymnastics are, but context clues lead him to believe it's probably not anything like embroidery.] Do you live somewhere dangerous, then?

[overdraws]

[ She actually has to think about that, because, well. ] I guess so. I never really thought about it that way before. Just kinda used to it, I guess.
