If anyone would like to go ice skating, please do feel free to join me in the unused gathering hall on the fifth floor of Caer Glaem. Skates can be provided for those who need them, as well as a quick skating lesson, if you've never had the chance to try before. I'll be here all day.

[he didn't remember there being an ice-skating rink in the castle -- hell, he didn't think they even had that kind of thing in vaguely-medieval fairyworld -- so the mass text invitation certainly has jason curious enough to go check it out.

of course, the actual thing looks less like an ice rink and more like a ballroom decorated by boreas while in a particularly artsy mood, so forgive him if he just stands stunned in the doorway for a bit.]

It's perfectly safe. Just be sure to mind the edge of the ice.

[ she thinks he's hesitating because of the fact that there's ice everywhere, and she can't really blame him. if she hadn't formed the ice along the walls and ceiling herself, she would definitely find reason to be wary of it. however! she knows it's rock solid, so she skates to the edge closest to the entrance as soon as she notices him in the doorway, giving him a ( hopefully! ) encouraging smile ]

I should have formed some sort of border around the rink, and the path around it, shouldn't I? Oh. [ she twists her mouth up a bit, turning on her skates to look out at the rest of the rink. and then she's reaching out to draw an oval in the air with her fingers, making a darkdark blue ring form around the outside of it. it's not raised or anything, but it's a much clearer indication of where the rink ends and the dry floor begins ] Much better.

[he startles a little at the sudden sound of her voice, but that surprise is nothing compared to the look on his face when she casually makes adjustments to her rink.]

...Did you make all this?

[he really shouldn't be surprised by anything supernatural at all, given his life experiences. really. but then, the last snow lady he encountered tried killing his girlfriend and turning him into a frozen trophy, so maybe he has a decent excuse to be uncertain.]

I did! Jack's made a few -adjustments of his own, but it's fairly easy to tell which work is his and which is mine. [ she's grinning while she says it, even as she gestures towards a patch near the edge of the ice that kind of looks like a big white beautiful smudge of hoarfrost in an otherwise flawless design of perfectly symmetrical snowflake shapes. sigh. ] -- I won't use my power around you again, if you're not comfortable with that. It's okay, really. I- get it. [ because maaaaybe she noticed the hesitation in his voice, it's the kind of tone she heard from her mother and father wwwway too many times when she was growing up. ]

No, no, it's fine. I just wasn't really expecting something like this when I saw a general skating invitation. It's nice.

[at least he's quick to reassure her of that. jason's made enough mistakes about judging people too quickly to be anything but open-minded -- even if he's historically icy ladies have been bad for his health.]

[ she really does seem pleased with herself, but it's not so much because people are impressed with what she did, it's the fact that they even came to see it at all. that they weren't afraid, or disgusted by it. and ah, maybe she likes surprising people in a good way, with what she can do. so she's all smiles when she turns back around, her right skate crossing behind her left in a small curtsy. ..force of habit, okay ]
