Galadriel, Lady of Lothlórien ([personal profile] inafadingcrown) wrote in [community profile] eachdraidh2014-05-30 08:00 pm

Forward dated to June 2; video

[The woman who appears on the screen is sitting on the floor of a forest in what is obviously a makeshift camp. The chirping of birds and the faint sounds of horses can be heard in the background. Her first message is short and simple, open to everyone (though, admittedly, there are a few who she is particularly hoping to hear from).]

I am curious;  how many of you hail from Arda? When did you see it last?

For those who do not, tell me something of your world, if you will. I have time enough for a tale or two.

[Locked to Seelie]

Gi suilon. I am known to some of you already; for those to whom I am not, I will offer a short introduction. [She gives a little nod of her head- not a bow, but still with a slightly formal air.] I am Galadriel, formerly of Lothlórien.

I regret very much that I am not able to offer my greetings in person to those of you who have newly arrived, but, alas, circumstances necessitate my presence elsewhere.

Regardless of my absence, I would offer you- and those who have been longer in this world- use of the lembas and miruvor I received as a boon. Lembas, for those who are unaware, are Elven waybread. My supply of these is dwindling and even a little will provide nourishment for days, so I ask that you take only at need and sparingly. Miruvor is healing cordial, though it may also be used simply to renew strength. Of this I have more, but, again, do not use it needlessly. Both the lembas and the miruvor I keep in my quarters; my maid is likely to be about and able to show you to it. If not, you may contact me and I will find a way to make arrangements.

Upon my return, I will no doubt meet many of you for myself and I will be glad to offer what assistance I may, for I know well that this place may be frightening and strange, however welcoming our hosts may mean to be. Until then, keep well.

[Locked to Maglor]

[Ordinarily, she would deem this unnecessary, but she does know that he was traveling recently. And it's best he know as soon as possible.]

I do not know if you have heard, cousin, but yet another kinsman has found his way to this world.

[Hey at least his dead nephew isn't here to teach him that lesson. So it's really a relief he's learning of it by her.]

That must have been [difficult, surprising, awkward] a cause of some confusion. [This is where a smarter man would question how, but his first thoughts go to something else entirely.] Does this mean she's unaware of certain events?

[In other words, should he refrain from mentioning her marriage to Aragorn? Not that it's odd to him, but as a father he isn't sure how he would handle the knowledge of not only having a daughter he didn't know yet, but her marriage to someone he hasn't even met.]

[He takes her glancing away as a sign that he should probably attempt to change the topic, and so he just nods.] It is of no concern to me to keep the peace of mind of another, especially hers in matters like this. Or to trouble you little. Especially as you are no longer lady of your wood.

[In his mind that means she deserves whatever rest she can find, even if it's odd to think of her that way. Though there is something like a question there as well.]

I am a father. [He understands these things and even gives her a smile, not judging her weariness. And then his shock shows at that.] No, I just recently saw my own daughter wed. No news of you has reached me as of yet in that regard.

[That's enough to make him bow his head for a moment.]

That is not something I have heard, though when that day occurs it will be a sad one for those of us still there. May I ask if your lord husband went with you?

[He's honestly not surprised at the lack of emotion, there are just some things you get used to when around other rulers and just private people in general. Besides what he asked was rather personal and perhaps just a little too close to home for him really.]

I'm sorry. [There's no nice way of saying "I'm sorry for your husband not going with you" and "I'm sorry for probably saddening you" so he'll just settle for that and attempt to change the topic.] Forgive me for asking such things, I'm only curious. And my curiosity begs me to ask why you are not here to greet those of us newly arrived?
