[The woman who appears on the screen is sitting on the floor of a forest in what is obviously a makeshift camp. The chirping of birds and the faint sounds of horses can be heard in the background. Her first message is short and simple, open to everyone (though, admittedly, there are a few who she is particularly hoping to hear from).]

I am curious; how many of you hail from Arda? When did you see it last?

For those who do not, tell me something of your world, if you will. I have time enough for a tale or two.

Gi suilon. I am known to some of you already; for those to whom I am not, I will offer a short introduction. [She gives a little nod of her head- not a bow, but still with a slightly formal air.] I am Galadriel, formerly of Lothlórien.

I regret very much that I am not able to offer my greetings in person to those of you who have newly arrived, but, alas, circumstances necessitate my presence elsewhere.

Regardless of my absence, I would offer you- and those who have been longer in this world- use of the lembas and miruvor I received as a boon. Lembas, for those who are unaware, are Elven waybread. My supply of these is dwindling and even a little will provide nourishment for days, so I ask that you take only at need and sparingly. Miruvor is healing cordial, though it may also be used simply to renew strength. Of this I have more, but, again, do not use it needlessly. Both the lembas and the miruvor I keep in my quarters; my maid is likely to be about and able to show you to it. If not, you may contact me and I will find a way to make arrangements.

Upon my return, I will no doubt meet many of you for myself and I will be glad to offer what assistance I may, for I know well that this place may be frightening and strange, however welcoming our hosts may mean to be. Until then, keep well.

I'm from Earth. A part called Britain. I'm not really sure what to tell you about it, because I don't know what would be new or interesting to you, but we have very good desserts. Do you have ice cream on Arda?

[He sounds a little skeptical. Sorry? Head tilted to the side, ear tufts raised.]

You are offering... bread?

[That's probably great for some. Maybe. No, really... bread?]

Wow! ( she's starting to get the hang of this talking-through-necklaces thing; and is starting to feel like they're pretty nice. truth be told, yuzuriha has no idea what she's supposed to do here, so she's trying to focus on the positives. like, these lockets are cool. and, what a pretty lady. )

What's the bread made of? It sounds really great!

[Which in the long run isn't all that helpful an explanation of things, but he's a little stuck on Galadriel being here and addressing herself as formerly of Lorien to truly think of a more helpful answer.]

Is there anything specific you'd like to know about other worlds?

You're the one who gave Thranduil them, then.

[ He's not usually this curious, but she seems like a different sort of an elf -- also, he thinks he might recognize that part of the forest. ]

I am, yes. I assume, then, that you travel with him? [Since Thranduil seemed like he was about to take off when she handed them to him.]

I would scarcely know what to ask. Tell me whatever you might wish; I seek only to pass the time. [And to get an idea of what's out there. But it's hard to narrow it down when you have no idea what the possibilities are.]

[let me tell you about my world.]

I could tell you a tale or two, my lady, but I haven't many happy tales.

Prince Imrahil. [And newly arrived, apparently.] Might I trouble you for a year? It seems a strange question, I know, but there is reason for it.

[Her enthusiasm gets a smile.] You will forgive me, I hope, if I decline to answer. The recipe is something of a guarded secret; it is rare enough that it should be offered to mortals at all.

But still! Something like that could be really useful to a lot of people. Do you know how to make it?

My world is... sort of boring. There's no magic or anything, at least.

[ Ariadne frowns in thought, tucking some hair behind an ear. The most interesting thing she knows about is shared dreaming, but that's- secret. ]

People don't use horses to get around much anymore, either -- not in most places. Machines are used instead, and are used for most things -- to make them faster, more efficient, that sort of thing. There are no great hunts.

[ Wait, wait-- interesting, not depressing. ]

We've been beneath the ocean, though! I mean, I haven't personally, but...

[Sudden interest! Excuse her while she grabs her locket from nearby to nose in.]

No horses? And your people have been beneath the ocean?

[Not surprisingly, Alice can't sleep, at all. She hasn't been able to sleep since she's arrived. Her own world -- she stops to think about this, a little hesitant.]

I am from London, England, but I am from Oxford originally. As much as I hate to admit, there is nothing worth noting of my own world.

[Except, perhaps, the children she left behind.]

I was living in the slums and I may be happy to be here rather than there.

[ A startled laugh, and Ariadne lifts a hand to wave. ]

A few horses, but they aren't common like they are here. And yes! There are underwater vehicles -- like, um, a wagon that's fully enclosed and made of metal, but not pulled by horses. We call them 'submarines'.

Yes. Or a little behind.

[ His stamina is fine, it really is -- but his horse can't match the unicorn Thranduil's now riding. ]

[If it weren't for the Great Eagles, she might be a little more surprised about a bird speaking, but thankfully, he's spared the 'a talking bird?' bit from her, at least.]

And why should I not? It is nourishing and preserves well- ideal for a long journey. [A slight smile] Though I imagine you needn't worry nearly so much about such things.

[ It is a long time before she gets an answer, and the first thing she is like to notice is that Maglor looks unwell (honestly he looks as if the only reason he hasn't faded is sheer bloody-minded stubbornness). He is pale and wan, and his Light of being flickers erratically, his eyes red-rimmed and his voice hoarse from weeping (from shouting) ]

I know. Father is here.

[Bless you, Harry, picking food as a topic of conversation. We really need to introduce you to a hobbit.]

Not to my knowledge, no. Is it a favorite dessert of yours?

[And her expression changes immediately upon seeing him, concern making its way into every line of her face.] Makalaure, you are unwell. What has happened?

By all means, then, tell me a sad tale. There is beauty in sorrow as much as in joy.

[ He shakes his head a little ]

Nothing, nothing, you need not mind me cousin. I... I am finding the surprise of Father's arrival has been harder to manage than might have been expected. [ partial truth ] I fear that I was not in the best state of mind when he called me last night.

[ elven bread. perhaps -- ]

My lady. Are you an elf as King Thranduil is an elf? [ or maybe she's made a clumsy assumption and: ] Or perhaps the bread isn't an indication of who are, and if that's the case...

I apologize.

[Masamori considered replying in kind, but he doesn't trust the security of these communications, as necessary as they probably are. He'd rather give away as little as possible.]
