[Late in the evening of the 14th day of May, Wan's voice comes over the networks very briefly. It is haggard, quiet, almost dead sounding. It sat at the edge of being numb to everything.]

[Wan was pretty sure he didn't do the best he could. Hindsight was far clearer than foresight and he had already figured out where he had screwed up in the rush to move the mountain.]

And I'm glad you came to help. Thank you for trying.

[voice]

Come on, don't do that. It's hard, what happened. But don't get too caught up in blaming yourself.

[ Even Billy will totally notice a 'you' versus 'us'. ]

I'm not blaming myself. But that doesn't mean the responsibility isn't mine.

[The blame was on the Void and the Pyrii fairly equally. The void for coming and the Pyrii for deciding their mountain was more important than their lives. Death was assured if they chose to do nothing and so they had chosen.

But Wan had chosen to act. The responsibility for not being successful in the moving the volcano was his. And so their deaths were, too. Even if he wasn't to blame, he still held responsibility for what had happened. He knew that. He accepted that.

And he didn't understand why so many people couldn't get that.]

I don't want to argue it with you. Please.

[semiurge]

[ There was a lot Billy could say here about blame versus responsibility, but he wasn't going to push Wan. Now was clearly not the time. ]

I don't want to argue with you, either. I'm sorry this turned out like it did.

[raavashing]

I know. Thank you.

...You weren't there when I woke up. Are you safe?

[semiurge]

Safe enough, considering the circumstances. I teleported out when it looked like it was over.

I figured you must have. I'm more worried about those that came who don't have the ability to teleport. But I still... I don't want anyone else hurt from this. I'm glad you're safe.
