[ Alice has been trying to draw in her sketchpad for a while now and it's clear from how wrinkled the piece of paper is, that she's tried to draw on it to no avail. It's been erased numerous times. Right beside her are her imp and her rabbit, as always. She's been quiet at the villa, she's locked herself up acting stranger than before. ]

How funny it is when the mind brings so many images and memories that it cannot even transfer onto a sheet of paper. I know what I see, but it cannot go through my fingertips and onto my paper, unlike so many times before.

[ By the tone of her voice, she means more than that. Guarded as ever, Alice will not say what it is, other than she reluctantly places her pencil down on the paper. Art blocks are terrible, and they're more terrible than before. ]

I am sorry... for my absence. Please don't think of me as silly, but I lost a good companion of my mine. My mare. My horse. I took her in after my first battle, when her owner had fallen. I loved her dearly, she was my friend, too, as much as anyone else I know here.

[ Alice says this while trying not to cry. ]

I loathe to think of another animal as a replacement, but seeing as it is a necessity, I have no other choice. She had fallen in battle when I separated from the others.

[ When she went on her rampage after the Jabberwock, though she's not going to say that. Alice just rubs her rabbit's ears instead while looking at her blank paper. ]

I can try and buy one, if needed, if anyone wants to humor me. I know this is a silly request after everything that has happened -- selfish, even. I think it might be best if I left, for a small while, so I can clear my head and be useful again. No good comes of being a shut-in.

[ After all, ever since she came back, she's been acting stranger and much more distant than before. There is more here that she wants to say; she struggles with saying it. ]

Yes, they're the quickest way to get ahold of someone. Nothing like my world, really.

[ When Alice starts to veer off in her thoughts it's an indicator she's a little nervous. ]

But don't worry about me, sir, I'll be fine.

[Wan didn't want to push her, he just wanted her to know he was sincere. So when she begged him off a second time, he nodded his head.]

Okay. But if you change your mind, my name is Wan. I hope you get to your friend soon.

[ After some moment of awkwardness and Sophie and the imp taking off, Alice can officially say this: ]

Not to worry, he found me.

[ And he's lucky that she hasn't thrown something at him to shoo him out. Men are so weird. ]

Oh, but thank you, Mr. Wan. My name is Alice. I'm assuming you must be new.

I am.

[He bobbed his head to acknowledge her name.]

And it's just Wan. No 'Mr' needed. I guess me being relatively new shows pretty easily, huh?

Mm. [ She actually hates it when people tell her to stop using formalities. She's so used to referring everyone by a proper title that someone asking her not to is a struggle. ]

I have been here for a while, nearly a year. After some time, the faces in the Unseelie court become recongizible. To which I say, yes, just a little. It is not a bad thing.

[Wan's didn't notice the discomfort over his request. As far as he was concerned he wasn't a 'Mr.' because he wasn't important enough to any one community to have such a title. And his own was Avatar, anyway. If he was going to use one at all.]

Maybe in time I'll start recognizing them as easily as you. Or maybe not. These locket things are pretty amazing, but half the time I forget I have it. I'm not used to them. That probably gets easier over time, too.

In-between travels it makes it easier to contact others, but be careful with which information that you chose to disclose over it. Not even a necklace, a personal item, is out of the eyes and ears of the monarchs and enemies.

[Wan's eyebrows rose and his gaze shifted slightly as he looked more at his locket than the moving picture inside of it.]

Other people are can watch us when we use these? Even when we ask them to speak to only a single person?

I do not mean to scare you, but that has been the general warning that I've heard from others as long as I've been here.

You didn't scare me.

[It came out almost as a reflex, despite the truth of it. He was very worried at the implications of that, but he wasn't scared by it. It was simply something he hadn't been aware of yet.]

But it's good to know. No one had told me that. I probably would have found out sooner if the attack on the castle hadn't happened.

[His lips turned down in a frown before he sighed and shook his head.]

Not much I can do about what I've said already over this. I mean, I haven't really said anything I regret, but it still would have been good to know sooner.

[Wan let out a soft laugh.]

Here I was trying to help you and you end up helping me instead. Thank you.

Me? Well, I haven't really done anything-- I could do more.

[ The typical mindset of Alice Liddell, always wanting to do more. ]

I mean, you're welcome, sir. I only feel a little guilty you were dragged into such a situation, especially now. It wasn't like this before, it was actually relatively peaceful.

[Wan felt self-conscious at her calling him sir, but this time he didn't comment on it. It was better than 'mister' and it wasn't really a title.]

You don't have to do a lot to be helpful. And you did it without me asking, so you've done more than expected. Please, don't think you aren't doing enough. You are and more, too. And please, don't feel guilty, either. You're not the one that dragged me here.

[He chose not to address the 'relatively peaceful' comment because a stalemate in a War wasn't the same as real peace to him. It was a step in the right direction, but without dedicated attempts to negotiate a peace, it didn't amount to much in the long run.]

[ She thinks to herself how silly she is that she finds herself so easily saddled with guilt. ]

No, I was not the one who brought you here.

[ For as much as she struggles with talking to others, her empathy will always draw her to them. ]

But that does not make me any less sincere in my words.

I wasn't trying to say you weren't sincere. Just that you don't have to feel guilty about it.

[He bobbed his head.]

Thank you. Again.

[ She knew that was going to be difficult. ]

You are, too.

[He lifted a hand and waved.]

I'll leave you to your friend.

[ Alice stops herself short when she's about ready to correct him on her relationship with Lancelot. She's just too shy to say it. ]
