Ever wonder how this feels like some weird State of the Union address? Except with a lot less people. Or maybe it's like making a YouTube video. Here I am, talking to you guys, and I can't even see your faces. [ He shrugs. ] Oh, well -- anyway.

[ Two fingers. ] Two: Anyone seen a big orange walking rockpile lately? Grumpy, looks like he lost a bet with a mudslide? Johnny notices this one, too. Jack's sad, and Johnny's always been bad with the comforting, so he decides to distract him. ]

Hey. Wanna come exploring with me sometime? Bet we can discover nifty things about this place. Like why they seem to be allergic to light, for one.

Exploring?

[What is this, what're you doing. Jack looks as confused as he sounds, because it's out of left field and therefore surely a trick.

But he doesn't think Johnny's skilled enough for that. If he plays along, maybe he'll find out what he actually wants. Besides, it might even be a pleasant opportunity after what his father had in store for him.]

Sure, why not.

[ Johnny's distracting you from whatever bad things you're dwelling on, your highness. Life's short and not for brooding, so what the hell, right? He has zero ulterior motives, promise. He doesn't want anything from him; friendship doesn't work that way, right?

He beams, pleased. He knows Jack's not okay, but maybe that'll cheer him up. ] Did you explore anything yet?

Man, I gotta really visit the party room sometime. Worth going?

It seems like everything your heart could desire is there. Or at least a version of it.

[ Johnny contemplates that for a moment, then at length, he says. ]

I'm going to be really pissed if anyone wrecks that room when we start fighting. Do you mean the better version, or a lame version?

A good time. [ Johnny's smile is mischievous, wicked. ] Underwear models would do for a start.

[Underwear models. Of course. Did he really expect anything different from a man whose biggest concern is which side has the hottest women?]

[And Jack makes it sound, tries to make it sound like he knows this from experience. He doesn't actually have to play this game anymore. It feels as terrible as it always did.

[ Johnny laughs, bright and genuine and amused -- and would've slapped him on the back if Jack's here with him. He doesn't see how Jack struggles to say it, to keep up that front when he doesn't have to anymore. ]

She gave up her secrets to me the night I arrived. And her two sisters the next morning.
