Are the women in this world and your own given as much opportunity to defend themselves as the men?

[ she doesn't wait for any answers, giving a humorless snort of laughter at the locket before continuing. it's not a directly related addition to her question, but it's certainly on the same train of thought: ]

Ridiculous that those already holding power are given the privilege of training to the highest levels of their skills, but those most in need of it are left to rely on the protection of others.

He is. This world has been quite generous in keeping the people that I care most about nearby. I only hope that it's shown you a similar kindness, Lady Katsa.

There was one I know already here at my arrival. [ smiling ] I wouldn't mind being alone. I wouldn't want to hang onto anyone I love like a barnacle as it is, to keep either of us from living our own lives; but it's better to have the option to see them when I wish it. For all I dislike about this world it has plenty more to offer.

You're very brave. I fear I'm not as selfless, especially not when it comes to my brother. And for others... [She speaks the last words a little more slowly, pausing before continuing with a lighter smile.] A second chance at life. How very true that this world has much to offer.

I've no brothers or sisters, so may be I can't understand that feeling quite the same. [ her next question is somewhat presumptuous, maybe, but curious, and katsa's never been shy about asking. ] Is there some reason you would be happy for a second chance, Lady?

I think only of those who might be [how to put it mildly] at the end of their journey in their own world.

At the end of their journey... [ frown. ] Out of options—facing an end?

[ subtleties man idk ]

Out of time. [She smiles lightly.] Have you not heard stories of those who've passed from their worlds into this one?

[ katsa opens her mouth to say no—but then she stops. ]

There is one who said he remembered his family dying, but here they were alive and well...

[ she thinks about that, the impossibilities, and then thinks about if people she knew to be dead were suddenly seen here...

a chill runs down her spine and she shudders. visibly. ]

Maybe it's lucky for some, but it other cases it might be better if those meant to die were allowed to do so.

[She can also think of one, a death that she did not witness, but she knows her brother told her the truth. And though he was already here once, it was, well, uncomfortable. And would be again.]

Yes, for some I'm sure that is the case. Was he pleased to have his family with him again? Did it influence how he feels about this world?

He... [ she hesitates. ] Was both pleased and displeased. Said he'd rather they were still dead, to spare himself and supposedly them the suffering of the world.

[ that's still not her most favorite piece of information, and a note of displeasure creeps into her voice. ]

[Even Margaery blinks at that, her grandmother's training to always mind her reactions and words forgotten.]

A grim outlook. This land has its share of inconveniences, to be sure, but it hardly seems that bad.

[ she shrugs. she doesn't quite know what to say to that, so she moves on. ]

Are you happy here? Are there things you miss back home? Gendry seems to think it's better here than in your own seven kingdoms, and I begin to see, if he has so much family he doesn't mind seeing. Is it so bad for everyone that even this place would seem better?

I miss my cousins. And my grandmother.

[Margaery admits that readily. But when she really considers the heart of the question...]

I must admit that I am happy here.

[ katsa plays with the chain of her locket, not really looking at margaery, brows furrowed. ]

Would you do it again? Come here if you knew.

[ nosy, but the only way to know things is to ask questions, and sorting through other people's thoughts sometimes helps figure out her own. ]

[It's becoming one of the most honest conversations that Margaery has had since arriving. And pleasant.

Margaery's surprised at not having an instant answer for that. She was to be the queen. A woman could hope for no better station - in her world. In this one, she could choose her own. It's exciting, really.

She takes a breath, scarcely believing her own answer.]

I believe I would. Does that sound outlandish?

No. [ there's a long pause ] I don't like that they brought me here without a choice. I don't like that we're expected to fight. But if I'd known what waited me here despite it all, of course I'd come all over again and see what new things were in store.
