second trial. | voice (unlocked)
[ thomas has not been a common presence on the network since his arrival to the drabwurld; gaining the ability to talk telepathically with the people who've been close to him have made it fairly easy for him to communicate without it. but this time, thomas addresses the network at large, although only with a (perhaps semi-familiar) voice.
he sounds uneasy. tired. ]
Do any of you have nightmares? How do you deal with them?
[ it's a stab at anonymity, mostly because he doesn't want to show his face, but the storms currently raging over head have not made his life any easier. thomas sleeps fitfully, twenty minutes at a time, wakes up screaming. no one's going to see his face as an effect of that. eventually, he tacks on a soft--]

It's gotten worse, as I've gotten older. Now [She sighs.] I see the past, too. Things in the present, where I am not.
I wish I merely had nightmares.
I pray that you are merely having nightmares, as well. As troubling as they can be.
voice
I think there are other people like that here in the Drabwurld. You should talk to them. There's a girl who has visions sometimes... [ thomas can't remember much else about it, though. ]
voice
[She chuckles, sadly.]
I do not know if we should all speak.
[The stories always speak of horrible consequences. But--]
Forgive me, I am being selfish. With most nightmares, there is a root to them, something you fear, manifesting itself in dream.
voice
No, no--it's interesting. [ honestly, he's way more interested in her visions than his own nightmares. that's seriously cool--or, well, okay, tragic, but also cool--and he's really enjoyed learning about other people's worlds. basically chinhandsing on his end to be honest. ] Have you had any since you got here?
voice
[She lets out a breath.]
No, and while I would like to hope that means that something here is keeping them at bay, I know most likely it means they are simply sleeping. [The beast that claws is exhausted from it's last attempt to gain control of her.]
voice
Have you been here long? If you--there are proclamations, and stuff, things they want the shardbearers to do. If you do them, they'll give you rewards. You could probably ask for something to make sure it stays away for good. It's usually not without a price, or it takes some control to work, but...they do work. [ for as much as he dislikes this entire place, as much as he dislikes morla, he can at least admit that much. ]
voice
[She shakes her head.]
Two weeks. I will have to look into it. It's...complicated. [To lose her curse would mean she loses her uniqueness. Would she truly wish for that?]
Forgive me, I realize I haven't given my name. Vanessa Ives.
voice
maybe that's why WICKED took him, though. he needs to not think of that. ] Yeah. You could always talk to Morla, too.
voice
I suppose I could, yes. How long have you been here, Thomas?
[Better to try and focus on him, now. The talk of removing her...complications makes her nervous.]
voice
A few months. Four or so. [ a beat. ] Too long.
voice
Are there important things for you to do, in your home?
voice
A little bit. [ just leading a group of munies to rebuild the world it's fine. ] I've heard time stops at home while you're here, though.
voice
It is what I've heard as well; though some people seem disinclined to believe that statement.
voice
Yeah. I'm a little skeptical, myself. [ he pauses. ] But, this place can bring people back from the dead, so--I guess it's not completely implausible.
voice
[Though that does bring up an interesting question for her.
She knows this is so far off the topic of nightmares, but Thomas seems to want a distraction, so she shall provide.]
When people return, are they wholly themselves?
voice
[ ooh but now you've hit his curiosity. ] Why'd you ask?
voice
[For complicated, horrible reasons.]
"No more let Life divide what Death can join together"
That is what this place has done in some ways, has it not?
[But that is avoiding and not answering his question. So onward.]
Some believe we lose something decidedly us when we die. Even revived [A vampire, a monster, something else entire...] we are missing something key.
But perhaps they are all wrong.
Or only that this place allows the dead to return, whole and healthy.
[Yet not able to remove curses.]
voice
Do you come from a place where people come back from the dead often? [ because that definitely Does Not happen where Thomas is from--there's a twinge of him that wishes it would, but with the way she talks about it, maybe not. ]
voice
[And she is not sure if that is the answer he wants to hear.]
