[video / both courts / backdated to december 3rd]
[This message comes a few days after the new influx of arrivals. Still roughly two weeks after the original call to arms he put out, but give him a break. He needed some time to actually settle in at Redgate without all the Reynard shit to deal with.
To the newer folk who wouldn't have seen him before, the individual appearing on their lockets is a rather young man, blond and golden-eyed behind lavender-tinted glasses, pretty in a decidedly feminine way, currently seated in what looks like a private office.]
I wanted to thank everyone who in some way aided Redgate, during the recent events. Almost everyone went their separate ways fairly quickly after the incident in the ocean, and I can't blame them for just wanting to get back to their lives, but I do regret being unable to do anything to properly show my gratitude before that. Funds are still a little tight here, with the mines still inoperable after the dragon situation, so I can't offer much in way of a reward. But Redgate owes a debt to all of you -- I owe you -- and I'll do what I can to repay that debt, somehow.
[Aaand there's that obligatory noble gesture out of the way. Better, definitely, if he can deal with that debt on a more personal level and save Redgate itself any trouble.]
With that said, I thought it was only right to make a general announcement of the current situation, after raising such a fuss earlier. It was -- as anyone who's dealt with Reynard might have guessed -- a trap. The Fox did what he could to rid himself of those of us there at the time, and he and his daughter stole the bones of Lady Alyosha's kin. They failed to kill anyone, thankfully, but they still managed to escape.
[Beyond that, he hasn't heard much of what's up. Some people have cities to run and can't go running off across the map on a Fox hunt. But he certainly looked unhappy to have to report it, and with a sigh and a slight shake of the head, he moves on.]
That all aside, I see there's been another batch of new arrivals. I'm sorry you all had to arrive during such a mess of a time, but if any questions remain that I might be able to answer, I'd be happy to try to help. And know that Redgate is open to you, regardless of your court.

video;
...You have odd priorities. [Just sayin'.] But yes. We're not very far from the ocean and a major river, so fish isn't uncommon.
video;
[ maybe her priorities are in line with being a cat. which she is. do you like cats, sara. ]
video;
...I don't generally see any of it before it's cooked, so I can't really say.
[He doesn't dislike cats. He just... doesn't really know what to do with animals. The extent of his animal interaction most of the time are horses, and the riding is really the only part of it he does.]
video;
[ STOP OBSESSING ABOUT THE FISH ALREADY ]
Who are you, anyway?
video;
[YES PLEASE ENOUGH.]
My name is Saralegui. Lord of Redgate.
video;
[ obviously shijima is full of tact and cautious questioning
except no she only bothers with that stuff when she's on a mission or something and she's not ]
video;
[He's pushing for peace and neutrality and all that noise, if you haven't noticed.]
But the answer to your other question depends on whether you've heard anything about Reynard the Fox yet. You're new, I take it?
video;
[ She's pretty neutral, Sara, it's fine. She just likes to Know Things. ]
And I am. I came here only this month. Shijima Kurookano. Same court, for whatever that matters. I think I might have liked the decor of the other one better. More sunlight, from what I hear.
[ but she likes the unseelie people as much as she likes anyone, so it's ok ]
video;
[Welcome to the Drabwurld, have some tl;dr.]
The Fox is an ex-shardbearer turned shardhunter. He made a hobby out of just tearing the things from people's chests. He's caused all sorts of trouble in the past, including the death of my predecessor, the Lady Alyosha.
[Who is dead, but probably less so than you'd think. And all that's pretty hush-hush anyway.]
A few weeks ago, someone heard that the Fox was headed for Redgate -- to cause further mayhem out of spite or something, we generally assumed. A number rushed to the city to defend it, only to find Reynard already there waiting patiently in the dungeon. He eventually broke out, as there's little chance of any cell ever holding someone like him, and he gathered up all the shardbearers present to negotiate for the bones of Alyosha's kin. Just a distraction, it would seem, while his daughter was rifling around in the crypts. He kept us busy for as long as he needed, and then teleported us out into the middle of the ocean and right into the path of a sea monster.
video;
Ripping them from people's chests? What does it do, if he takes them? [ she can't die so she assumes it would just be super painful???? but the imps have not been super clear about why the shards matter and shit. ] I assume you dealt with the sea monster.
video;
[He's, uh... had some previous encounters with the Fox. There may be a reason why Reynard would love to kill him.]
Some continue to live even after losing their shards, and thus the existence of ex-shardbearers. But I believe that's more of a revival as a final favor from the monarchs, or sometimes just a very fortunate escape from the the brink of death.
And the sea serpent was killed by another shardbearer present at the time, yes.
[It was awesome.]
video;
[ she can't die, so how can she be on the point of death...TROUBLESOME. She's sort of curious about the damn things. ]
I see. That's interesting, I suppose. Why is he called "the fox"? Does he change into one?
video;
[And that's genuine concern.]
He does, actually. That's how I first encountered him. Imagine my surprise when he turned into a foul-mouthed, murderous redhead.
video;
No matter. He can't kill me, and if he could, what of it? [ SHE'D BE OVERJOYED. ] The rest doesn't matter.
Ha. I wonder if he was a fox or human first.
video;
video;
[ she's not like the half-immortal vampires who can live forever unless they are killed in a certain way.
she just doesn't die. it's a nuisance to her. ]
video;
[He's learned not to question these things. Especially when he's been hanging out with so many actual vampires.]
video;
[ at least he's entertaining. ]
You can't kill someone who can't die. Though it's a nuisance when people try and fail. I don't care to grow my limbs back on, it's a pain.
video;
If you're not a vampire, then what are you?
video;
[ yes, how very enlightening, shijima. but then, she only gives straight answers about half of the time. sometimes. ]
One who does not die. And who prefers fish to human blood.
video;
Something unique, then, as far as I've seen here.
video;
[ AND SHE IS SO ANNOYED ABOUT THAT but she will not get into ragging on kouichi here. maybe. for now. how dare he not be where she is, though, god. ]
Though there seem to be many near-immortals.
video;
I've only met the vampires, myself. And Reynard, I suppose, but I'd hate to put him in the same category as the rest of you.
video;
The winter spirit seems long-lived. [ but back onto the topic of reynard, since sara brought him back up. ] How is this Reynard immortal? Is he a fox first, or a human first? A human-hearted fox?
video;
[And apparently, Reynard's blood tastes gross.]
