This is disgusting -
[ a voice that's rich in sarcasm and annoyance is heard and then a loud thud as a book slams against a table. a moment later regina mills comes to view, white silken blouse, black woolen coat, dark pants, impeccable hair given the situation and an expression that reads that she is, without a doubt, 120% done.
She stares at the book as if it had personally offended her and with a flick of her hand it goes flying across the room. ]
To those who call themselves the High King and Queen -
[ there is poison on the very way she pronounces those words. ]
Expecting me to fight for you is about as stupid as you interfering with the very weapon I would need even if I had wanted to. I have little to no idea what you or this misshapen world had done to magic.
[ or why as this makes no sense to her. ]
But I want it fixed.
[ and then she looks around her in distaste and mutters to herself ]
Looks as if this place is managed by farmers if to judge by this inner decor.

[ she sighs because in all honesty, staying here is annoying because it's not her world and she is not in control which she despises above all but what does she have to go back to? an empty life in a kingdom that hates her, having given up the one person who ever loved her? ]
when war does come, none of us would have a choice. it's do or die.

[Grainne repeats the name, memorizing it.]
Grainne.
[She smiles faintly, brushing some hair out of her face.]
That is true, and I am no stranger to war. Though I mean to say, there is much to do here without being on the front lines. I have seen shardbearers help those born here with their problems, and shardbearers conduct political agendas.
I myself am trying to find a way home.
no subject
[ if only because that is quite a lot of interesting information ]
I wonder, how can you tell apart the - shardbearers from the natives of this land?
no subject
I know it is possible to tap into one's shard for a boost, if someone knows the proper way.
no subject
[ she doesn't buy into the shard issue but. ]
And the shards they are...inside of us. I have heard they can even be taken out. What happens if one removes a shard?
[ this is all in the name of science! ]
no subject
I have heard for that to happen, you must die or disappear from the world completely. There are rumors someone knows how to do it without killing the shardbearer, but I am not sure who or where.
It is likely it is true, though.
no subject
[ and that oddly, maybe disturbingly, makes her smile. ]
Magic is magic is magic, it would seem. If you ever learn of the one who can remove them, I would appreciate their name.
no subject
[Nodding, Grainne hopes she isn't making a mistake. If Miss Mills wished to have her shard removed, who was she to say no?]
I can certainly pass that information on.
no subject
[ she hurriedly adds on, as she assumes this is not somehow vital information: ]
Which court do you belong to?

[ that sort of makes her look away, pain making its way to her features. unseen, her hand curls into a fist. henryhenry- ]
how - many do you have?
[ this is a brave attempt at collecting herself. ]

[ she looks at her hands for a moment. she doesn't even have a son to go back to. henry is gone and he will never remember her, never call her 'mom' ever again. still. to take a mother from her children -- the urge to just kill the monarchs is very great. ]
no subject
I would much rather they stay safe where their grandfathers can look out for them.
[Tilting her head, Grainne hesitates a moment before asking a tentative question.]
How... many have you lost?
no subject
[ quietly and to the point. ]
But I have lost him before coming here so - it does not matter.
[ and still this feels like losing henry all over again. ]
from one mother to another, seelie or unseelie, I will do whatever I can to help you go back to your children.
no subject
I am truly sorry, Miss Mills. I will pray to the gods that you may be one day reunited.
[A honest wish. No mother should experience the loss of a child.]
I thank you.
no subject
[ her voice nearly breaks around the words. could they be reunited again? regina is a villain and villains never have their happily ever afters but she has tried, tried hard to be anything but - ]
It is magic that brought us here and we'll leave with magic, too. I'll find a way.
