This is disgusting -
[ a voice that's rich in sarcasm and annoyance is heard and then a loud thud as a book slams against a table. a moment later regina mills comes to view, white silken blouse, black woolen coat, dark pants, impeccable hair given the situation and an expression that reads that she is, without a doubt, 120% done.
She stares at the book as if it had personally offended her and with a flick of her hand it goes flying across the room. ]
To those who call themselves the High King and Queen -
[ there is poison on the very way she pronounces those words. ]
Expecting me to fight for you is about as stupid as you interfering with the very weapon I would need even if I had wanted to. I have little to no idea what you or this misshapen world had done to magic.
[ or why as this makes no sense to her. ]
But I want it fixed.
[ and then she looks around her in distaste and mutters to herself ]
Looks as if this place is managed by farmers if to judge by this inner decor.

[Nodding, Grainne hopes she isn't making a mistake. If Miss Mills wished to have her shard removed, who was she to say no?]
I can certainly pass that information on.

[ she hurriedly adds on, as she assumes this is not somehow vital information: ]
Which court do you belong to?

[ that sort of makes her look away, pain making its way to her features. unseen, her hand curls into a fist. henryhenry- ]
how - many do you have?
[ this is a brave attempt at collecting herself. ]

[ she looks at her hands for a moment. she doesn't even have a son to go back to. henry is gone and he will never remember her, never call her 'mom' ever again. still. to take a mother from her children -- the urge to just kill the monarchs is very great. ]

I would much rather they stay safe where their grandfathers can look out for them.
[Tilting her head, Grainne hesitates a moment before asking a tentative question.]
How... many have you lost?
no subject
[ quietly and to the point. ]
But I have lost him before coming here so - it does not matter.
[ and still this feels like losing henry all over again. ]
from one mother to another, seelie or unseelie, I will do whatever I can to help you go back to your children.

I am truly sorry, Miss Mills. I will pray to the gods that you may be one day reunited.
[A honest wish. No mother should experience the loss of a child.]
I thank you.

[ her voice nearly breaks around the words. could they be reunited again? regina is a villain and villains never have their happily ever afters but she has tried, tried hard to be anything but - ]
It is magic that brought us here and we'll leave with magic, too. I'll find a way.
