❖ 001 ; VOICE ⇨ VIDEO (  SEELIE  +  UNSEELIE  )

[ the voice that can be heard is full of nervousness and skepticism ]

Alright, then. I know this is working, it worked for everyone else, no reason it wouldn't for me - aside for the matter that I do not know what I seem to be doing at all -

[ but then, video! at first you might see only freckles and then she'll step back and you'll see a young woman with dark curls, a purple, flowery dress and one bottom lip that seems to be busied between her teeth. ]

-- Greetings to both courts, I have heard there are two. I hope there are not more and if there are -

[ she might be offending someone. oh no. she'll take a quick yet graceful curtsy ]

to those who can hear - see! me. My name is Gunievere - Gwen, really. of Camelot! I - the fairies -

[ the fairies. this is so unsettling ]

I was told I was brought here to help. I will do all that I can but I - I am but a maidservant. I do not know what I can do, truly but whatever you might need of me, I am in your service.

-- They will send us home when our duties are through, will they not? I have other.

[ erm ]

duties! at home. I am already in the service of a Lady and she might be unsettled with me being gone.

[ and morgana being unsettled is bad news to all ]

--- It's nice to meet you all, I'm certain. Whatever I can do, truly.

[The word "Camelot" tips him off a bit, as does her name. But he's not going to mention that just yet because poor Gwen looks sort of completely out of her element. So instead he just waves as the picture settles in.]

Loud and clear, Gwen of Camelot. [A smile follows that.] I've noticed that they're not really that picky about who they bring in to help out around here. And anyway I'm sure you have some skills that can be put to use. Everyone has something that they figure out eventually.

Gwen...right. I'll remember that. [That…is exactly Ryan's line of thinking, truthfully. Having people be nice was super-important to him not completely freaking out upon arriving in the Drabwurld. He can't help but tilt his head a bit though at her response.]

I think they've got fairies for that. But metalwork? We have a whole armoury of weapons and armor that could probably use some upgrades.

[He hates to ask, but.] Are you any good at it?

I don't really think it's boasting if you're good at what you do. If you have the skill and if you think you're good at it, then more than likely you are and people should know that. [Though maybe it doesn't hurt that he and Sharpay are used to being the best at their crafts and follow that philosophy a lot.] So what if we have better men? They don't have your skills.

It's a start. Um. I haven't met any of them personally but I've heard stories. It never hurts to ask, right?
choreographics: (Well are you coming?)

Oh. I'm not…you can just call me Ryan. [Though if she wants to refer to him as a Lord by all means. He has enough people at home referring to him as Mr. Evans so why not.]

I think it's a pretty noble thing for you to do, Gwen. I know a lot of people here that are offering their services. People offer offense and defense classes, people are working out trades…a friend of mine just went around and delivered tea to everybody. I guess it's just a matter of what do you really want to do here? If you have something else you've always wanted to do, kinda seems like the place to do it.

Likewise. [She's…very polite and it's sort of adorable in a weird way. And he's still trying to get over people actually being serious when they greet him with bows and curtsys outside of a dancer's setting, but he knows well enough to respond with a short bow of his own.

At her question, he just shoots her a mildly sheepish look.]
Not exactly, no. …I'd like to be someday if I get better at it but right now I'm just using what Lancelot's taught me so far. Helping out in battles where I can. That sort of thing. It's really kind of out of my realm of expertise because we're not exactly at war where I'm from…I mean we are but I'm not personally involved and it's sort of really far away and I'm not in the military or anything and we don't use swords and bows--

[Ryan stop.]

But right now I guess I'm something of an apprentice.
choreographics: (So though I can't imagine how)

[Well that proves that. Same Camelot.]

Yes, and yes. He and a guy named John were giving lessons. [Truth be told, he's quite fond of the man.] He's done a lot for me, actually, even if he doesn't realize it.

I don't know if it's really considered brave, but thank you. It's no different than you wanting to help, right?
choreographics: (Seem fixated on your verdigris)

A little too humble sometimes. It's kind of amazing. [And somewhere in his head, pieces from conversations he's had with Lancelot are starting to slide together. Yuuup, definitely going to have to talk to him about that later.]

I think just by being here and actively wanting to get out and do something, even if it's just something really small, takes a tiny amount of bravery. [Though imagining Gwen in battle...] Can you fight, too?
choreographics: (Do you think the Wizard is dumb?)

[personal profile] choreographics 2014-12-10 05:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[He's only met a few women here who can, so don't mind him if he's suddenly a little more nosy than he should be.]

How well? Did someone teach you, too, or did you just start learning by yourself? I mean back in Camelot. [Meanwhile he's just busy trying to remember the different versions of the legend he's heard about. How does Gwen tie into all of this? Hmm.]
choreographics: (Seem fixated on your verdigris)

[personal profile] choreographics 2014-12-11 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Makes enough sense to me. How can you create the best tools if you don't know how those tools will operate? At least you benefitted from it.

[…and then without even thinking about it--] If you wanted, I bet Lancelot would teach you more, too.
choreographics: (Outlive a lie for you)

video;

[personal profile] choreographics 2014-12-11 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
[Gwen plz. Ryan actually just gives something of a derisive snort.]

I keep telling him to relax and he doesn't listen to me anyway. Besides, he'd probably be happy to help you if you asked. That's…sort of what he does. [A shrug. He's perfectly aware he's making a bunch of assumptions without sharing details, but it's also in the thought that everyone should learn to defend themselves and Lancelot's clearly the best teacher. Clearly.]
choreographics: (It's the toughest case I've yet to face)

video;

[personal profile] choreographics 2014-12-11 09:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[…that is a weird question, but he just rolls with it.]

He trains anybody who wants to learn. [Oh...wait.] That doesn't happen in Camelot, does it.
choreographics: (Losing love I guess I've lost)

video;

[personal profile] choreographics 2014-12-12 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
For a long time in our world, there was a lot women weren't supposed to or couldn't do either. I mean this was all way before I was born but. [He just sort waves a hand. He's learned enough about women's suffrage and women's rights from Taylor to last him a lifetime.] Kind of more reason to take the opportunity here, don't you think?
choreographics: (No! He'll say to me)

video;

[personal profile] choreographics 2014-12-14 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't see why not. I've met some girls here that might be stronger than some of the guys. [Then again with Katsa it could probably count as cheating, but who's counting?] And I've fought alongside some women before. You'd be impressed what people can do here...or maybe not, I don't really know what's common in Camelot.
