I'm afraid a mistake has been made. As I understand it, it's the Seelie court which should seek my loyalty, and yet I have found myself among the Unseelie. I intend no offence to members of either court, nor disloyalty to the court I have been placed with, yet it is a perplexity. Simply put, I am left to wonder if this was indeed the intent and there has been no confusion, or if my own confusion is sound. It's...troubling, for reasons I apologise for not detailing.

Similarly, I'm looking for a friend, most likely among the Seelie, if present. He's about seventeen, Japanese, and you'll know him for a foolish innocence and investment in justice. Better still, being terribly easily flustered.

[Giving a name would be better, and it does make it apparent this friend is his Master, to anyone in the know, but it is still even just a little bit safer to keep Tatsumi's name secret. He can't jeopardise the boy's safety.]

Ah, one more thing. I'm a doctor, therefore if anyone is ever in need of medical attention, I am always available, particularly for those outside the courts who may not have access to their infirmaries. I should note, however, my practice may not be up-to-date for some. Although I do promise I don't suck. [He laughs lightly.] -That's right, a name would be helpful, wouldn't it? I suppose it's best to continue with Berserker for now, although I am aware there is another by the name. If that name holds meaning to you, I believe it's important we speak. Perhaps more privately.

Truly, I have intended to spend a fair amount of time at the Station. The lure of science is great.

You might have a bit of shock. What time is it for you? You mentioned being out of date.

The answer is complicated. I lived in the 19th century, but I have also experienced 1991. Consequently, if you mean to say I shall be shocked for the level of technology, the shock has already come and gone. For the most part.

Ah, then a little ahead, but it shouldn't be terribly disconcerting, at least. The great leaps of advancement are really cool, though - quite the thing to behold.

You may be surprised. The past twenty years have seen some massive leaps.

It wouldn't surprise me at all - to hear, that is. When such strides were taken in only one hundred years, at that rate, twenty more could be truly incredible. But I have steeled myself against the shock, for I admit my initial reaction to the street illuminations was something all too embarrassing.

Besides, doctors compartmentalize to allow themselves to work, yes? The same concept applies here.

Such distinction is certainly of import to science, yes. However, I am not one who would use the lives of others to meet my own end, or to conduct experiments. In that, there is a great difference. Chess is a game, one I very much enjoy, human lives are not.

But medical science does involve the use of lives for the betterment of the whole practice, in the end. This isn't me contradicting or disagreeing with you, but an observation.

Of course you would be absolutely correct. The difference lies in several points. For medical research over all, if such sacrifices must be made, it is not only for the betterment of the practice, but humanity as a whole. To cure some disease. For my own purposes, however, I have always preferred if I must use a life, if should be one already on the brink. Or else myself. This war, on the other hand, is not for anyone's greater good but the rulers' own.

Find yourself neutral territory, and you'll eventually find a way to work against this nonsense.

That would be a wise decision, yes. I shall have to do just that.

Now I must question your own opinions - between now saying you cannot disagree with what I have said, and yet asking such provoking questions of me, I cannot quite tell.

I like to ask questions and understand where others come from. I'm of the neutral persuasion myself.

Ah, that would make sense, then. I confess it a relief to hear others take a neutral stance, as so many have chided me for such thinking. Saying it's impossible to stay away from involvement.

They're also right about that. No matter where you stand, you will get involved. That's impossible to avoid.
