[Ganondorf is not usually a man to speak at length or to make messages on the lockets. But in light of recent developments and his aims to begin working against a tedious rival, it is time to begin gathering forces to him. He's built himself a sizable army already. Now he needs shardholders to stand with him. He has come to understand that each one of them might potentially be as valuable as a hundred native soldiers.]

With the passing of my sixth month, a fourth collection of Shardholders has been drawn into this world. The war carries on, though fate would seem to favor the side of our monarchs. [Absent as they might be...]

I am Ganondorf Dragmire. In my own land, I was the King of the Gerudo and of Hyrule. Until I return there, I am presently the Lord of Mair. My keep and city was won by conquest and much work has been done to rebuild and improve upon it. There are those among our court who helped to win and those who have labored to restore it. I have arranged quarters be provided for each one of you. You will always find Mair a safe haven as repayment for your efforts.

To those other Unseelie sharded, I extend my welcome to come visit the city. You need not travel the long road here. The High Queen has provided a Fairy Ring to the outside of the city. The land here is rich and bountiful so much that the people idle their time away in gambling houses and taverns. No doubt most will find some manner of entertainment within the city. [Says a man who clearly doesn't go out of his way for entertainment.]

Furthermore to those who wish to press the battle and see this war ended, then I welcome you to fight beneath my banner. Those who serve me will not go unrewarded. We stand on the cusp of victory. Already we have claimed powerful allies from Redgate and Maupertius. [Though he is eager to be rid of the latter...] We may have lost one battle at Cothromach, but we have slain their dragon and given our Seelie counterparts pause to reconsider their allegiance. Once the Seelie monarchs have been taken from their throne, we will at long last be able to return to our rightful homes.

[ If anything, she's grateful for the amount of information she's gleamed from this. Six months, fourth collection of shardholders (what a memorable term) meaning it's not an incident that's repeated monthly. The timing is odd, but this also means he arrived the same time as her ~~only friend~~ professor. That an outsider could conquer a land themselves and win it over isn't all that surprising, yet the fact the nobles of this land respected that seemed to strike her as odd.

Yet, the recruitment for others to fight under him from this fresh batch of shardholders rubbed her the wrong way. This Lord of Mair was allied with Redgate and Maupertius, terms that weren't entirely lost on her, but the severity of it may be. Add in that he has earned some favor from the Unseelie leadership and boy, this was a tricky situation.

A good impression is needed. ] So that's how it is in this world. Is it so wise to feed the idea of conquest to fresh faces that may be more experienced than yourself, Lord Dragmire?

I would welcome experienced generals. [Except not more experienced than him. But he arrogantly believes there is no one more experienced than him.] In the end, it only matters that we are victorious. Not who earns the most fame in our pursuit of it.

[It sounded magnanimous. But in his ultimate goal of returning to Hyrule, it wasn't untrue either. For his primary goal, the only thing that mattered was defeating the Seelie court and securing a return home.

Only, he had other ambitions as well.]

My apologies for not making it clearing, but I meant to imply that you are setting up a bunch of newcomers with the idea that they too could follow in your footsteps. It wouldn't do you any good to have competition from other Shardholders within your court, now would it?

[ It's okay, she hasn't quite gotten the impression he's being arrogant just yet. In fact, she's not even trying to make a fool of him, this is just her own inexperience in flattery that's costing her image. ]

I for one know of another king who has come to this land that was once a general.

No, it would not. But only if there aim is to usurp my present holdings. But it would be a fool who sows discord among allies. My aim is that they should fight the enemy, not me.

[Fools like... well, a certain someone who couldn't shut up about Reynard. Ganondorf already has one ambitious pain in his ass to worry about. Now he has to wonder about this king she spoke of.]

Having familiarized myself with enough stories of legend, those who are unnecessarily brash often are overwhelmed when others come together. Not that I'm suggesting anyone will be stupid enough to try to take you on, but there may be those who wish to build their own empire here.

[ Spoilers: no one will ever suspect this king. ]

Six months and you already have land to call your own. This place is remarkable... or severely underpopulated.

Your warning is appreciated, all the same. [At the very least, he manages to keep this from being as condescending as it could be. He knew what he was doing.]

But it is not just this land that is remarkable, however. The shards we bear afford us respect and importance, regardless of our origins. Even an ordinary man might be come to be viewed as godlike simply for the actions he performs while carrying a shard.

So I, a simple chemistry student, would be seen as a saint just for carrying a bucket of water for an old lady? I'm not terribly sure what I could do with that power, but to hear that it isn't so hard to earn the respect of this world is interesting indeed.

[ Now she's questioning just how many people actually acknowledge this guy as a lord. ]

If that is the path you set for yourself. After you have carried a thousand buckets, you might manage a small following.

Oh, wouldn't that be something? I could become the leader of my own cult just for carrying water to and forth.

[ Laughing lightly along with him. ] I wouldn't be a very good leader.

Perhaps not. [He cannot say. He doesn't know her.] The shard will offer you advantages, but will be perilous as well. Some may fear you for possessing it, but others will envy it and seek to make it their own. Once you have assembled your cult, I would suggest you employ some of them as bodyguards.

Bodyguards! It appears as if everyone is serious about these shards, huh?

You mentioned advantages and why, just the other day I was told I could learn to do magic of my own here. Is it because of the shards we're able to do this?

I could not tell you. Magic is as natural as the air we breathe in my land, much like in this one. Whether your shard grants that connection? I don't know, because I have always possessed it.

Really? [ He didn't strike her the type to be a magus, but maybe magic has a different meaning in his world. ]

You can create fire in thin air and all that neat stuff?

Such abilities are rudimentary skills.

[Warrior. Mage. General. King. He didn't even skip leg day.]

You haven't employed any scholars--or are they all on the opposing side? It'd be a shame if the Seelie court was full of masterminds who could be of aid and you've slaughtered them all without knowing.

Come my next battle, I will be certain to inquire on their professions before slaughtering them.
