This locket's pretty nifty. [Lancer, poised on the edge of a cliff, leaned his locket against one rock as he fiddled with a cloak and brooch, trying to pin one to the other without ripping it. He kept doing it over and over so he could weather it down and make it more comfortable to wear. When he got into a good little cycle of repetition, he spoke up, again.]

So, hey--I'm curious, has anyone heard about any 'help wanted' situations in Caer Glaem? I'd ask, but I figure this little artifact's got a good reputation is folks're using it so often.

[He continued talking, returning his eyes to the cloak and brooch.]

Let's see--I'm good with a plow, I know my way around horses and spreading seed... [Said nonchalantly, examining his handiwork.]

Pretty good at preparing and serving food. I wouldn't recommend me as the cook, though. I can read and write. [Conveniently, in every language on Earth.]

I'm a really good gardener, too--on top of farming, I mean. If you like flower-arrangement and things like that, you could say I've got a real knack for it.

[Lancer, seemingly content with the work he had done with the cloak and brooch, set both aside and began folding them where they lay. He crossed his arms and grinned back at the locket.]

So, if you folks know anyone who's hiring, put in a good word for me! You can call me [A pause. Lancer definitely stopped at that, thinking through his options.] Lancer. Yeah, I'll stick with that. It's gotten to be a habit, by now.

[Lancer nearly threw the mantle off the cliff. Oh, another polite girl! This bad streak might actually end--]

Flora, huh? That's a pretty telling name. Unfortunately, I haven't got a garden to show you with--unless you've got something I could use as a placeholder.

,small>[She giggles lightly.] So I've heard.
And I do, actually! I have a greenhouse at the castle. If there are things that you're unfamiliar with, that's not a problem. A lot of my plants have very specific needs, so I'd be more than happy to instruct you and, of course, pay you for your time while doing so.

[She flashes him a warm smile. To be honest, she has more money than she knows what to do with.]

Ahhh. So, you just need a groundskeeper, then? I wanna say I could be there often, but sometimes I might need to go out and perform for my Master.

[Ala, sometimes he needs to go start a war...]

Yes, though I would also like to see your flower arranging skills. I'm quite curious, now. But, your Master?

Ahh, just the lady who's supposed to give me orders. Anyway--

I'm up to try, definitely. Just name a time and place, lass. I might even stand a chance of making a bouquet to complement that lovely face of yours.

So like..the High Queen, or someone else?

[Which is rather confusing because Solais isn't really available at the moment, far from it. Maybe he just saw her as his Master anyway, for some reason? How. Odd.]

You're too kind. I would welcome the attempt, but I've seen some great bouquets in my time!

[She means it as a sort of challenge, even if it's not one she's pushing especially hard for, anyway; it's not like she'd dislike anything he'd do. Because. Flowers.

She gives him directions on how to find her at Caer Glaem.]

But I'm available anytime for the time being, so drop in when you like. You could now, if you wanted to. My name is Flora, by the way, nice to meet you Sir...?

[Lancer nodded as Flora laid out her questions. He didn't feel like going into details about the Queen and his request of aid. He figured other warriors would be called to it rather than just relying on the prowess of one champion.

At that, he gave Flora a lazy smile in return.]

You can call me Lancer--and, I've got some time this afternoon. Feel up to spendin' some time with me, Flora?

[That wasn't even subtle, but she could take a hint.

She blinks when he introduces himself, but doesn't say anything--instead she smiles and courteously dips her head.]

Sir Lancer. And very much so. I would love the company, actually.

['Sir', huh? A grin escaped the spear-man as he tried to read just how willing Flora looked.

The locket did little justice towards that cause.]

So, I guess I'll see you in a bit. I might even have some time to read up on local species while I'm at it.

If you don't find too many books in the court library it...might be because I may have checked out a few of them.

[Flora scratches her cheek and smiles sheepishly. In this case, it really isn't that bad--as part of her boon, she's gotten quite a few of her own books, and was more hanging onto the others for cross-referencing and fact-checking. He wouldn't run into much trouble finding some materials.]

Anyway, I'll be waiting! Take care.

[If he has no more to say, she'll end the connection.

And tidy up a bit, the place is a bit cluttered with her projects....]

[Thoughtlessly, Lancer perused through materials. He read and read and read, but none of it seemed to stick. So many new species of flora stood out, but it all became an absolute blur to him. What a mistake he made--assuming pages could hold his interest. It had been years since he actually managed to make that kind of studying work and it had only been a success with the battering of thick reed against his temple.

With a huff, he discarded the books he had taken into a bin by the door, inciting an irritable groan from that shift's librarian. He opted to find Flora, going precisely where she directed him. He only sent a brief message to confirm where he was before simply vanishing and reappearing before her.]

Hello, Sir Lancer. Welcome. [She dipped her head and curtsied when he arrived. She wasn't caught unawares since he'd done her the courtesy of calling, first. The place she'd called him to had been her lab. It was spacious, organised, and clean, but had a strangely cozy feel to it. It might have been the purple walls, who knew.]

Did you have a chance to look in the library? Did you find anything interesting?

Of course, I tried. [Lancer nodded to Flora in greeting, giving her his own little bow in return. Manners--whatever. He was in the middle of a good line, damn it.]

'Course, there's nothing in any book that beats the attention of a beautiful woman, so I rushed over.

Well, it's the subject matter of the books you'll be tending to, not the woman, so you might want to brush up a little.

[Not that she won't tell him everything he needs to know anyway, and happily, but still.]

But you're sweet, thank you. But tell me, do you enjoy making flower arrangements? If you do, why?

Ahhh, how cold. [He said so with a tease in the corner of his lips. Despite that initial brush off of his flirt, Lancer moved on.]

Admittedly, it must just be a talent towards aesthetics, but I just happen to enjoy it as well. [Or, because he was a sun god and he was a god of fertility or something like that. He didn't brag about lineage.]

Winter is upon us, you'd better get used to it. [She winks and briefly giggles behind a hand.

But wow, lancer, she said thank you!! ]

Oh, I'm so glad, then! Most of the plants...they really like you already, actually. What is that I feel about you? It's like...

[Her eyes slip shut as she just takes a moment to feel it out. It's nice. It reminds her of Stella and Amaterasu, something so warm and familiar, like...]

Eh. [Still, he was a bit caught off guard by that. Many people could tell he was irregular. It was pretty easy to see the red eyes and feel the bestial presence of him, but his connection to his father wasn't often easy to discern. Even being a demigod was a stretch, since plenty of folks took him for a demon.

Still, it was true. He was a 'sun god' by definition and held that sort of power. In his death, his blood made Alba vibrant and green for many ages.]

That's quite the thing to catch. I'm surprised, Flora.
