[ This isn't the first time she's discovered a powerful necklace capable of miracles beyond being a plot device, but as an experienced magus who is used to artifacts passing along messages over cell phones, it's no trouble to adjust to it. While she doesn't understand why it works the way it does (what's the purpose of keeping a conversation permanently), from what she gathers it is a primary tool used by many of the others here. Having met someone already from her world, there remains the possibility there may be others so she sits all prim and proper for her debut. ]

Good evening. I'm sure the lot of you are tired of hearing introductions, but it'd be poor manners to not announce myself. While it would be discreet to do this one by one, idle time is limited so I'll make this brief and as memorable as I can.

I'm Rin Tohsaka. [ Surname second only because she assumes Japanese mannerisms are frowned upon in this world. ] Though I've been called away from my studies in London to fight in a war, I must admit my experience in combat is limited. From what I've gathered, there are many like me here. What is there for us to do? How can we aid beyond training and letting our inexperienced manner add to the favor of the opposing side? Showing both intelligence and courage can only get you so far. It seems rather meaningless to have us younger adults throw ourselves into the fray.

So what is it that you do to be of use? Every person brought here must have some value to them and hearing of your experiences may be able to help guide me towards my own. Keep it brief and with as little bias as you can--I frankly don't care to hear about the war this or the war that. Thank you.

[Lancer gave his locket a curious look, his face turning out to a little bit of a sleazy smile.]

Well, now--if it isn't Archer's master.

Ah. Uh? [He was definitely not prepared for that kind of response. Well, it wasn't bad, but--]

You-- Wait, shouldn't you be more scared-like, brat?
red_branch: ([Raiment] Blow off A)

[personal profile] red_branch 2014-10-03 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Lancer would need a moment to let this attitude of hers set in.]

Ehh? What's the point in being inconspicuous, anymore? Those rules are set to hide the truth from folks who don't know about magic and we're in a country rife with the stuff.

[Also--] Still, I'm a little confused. Were we on good terms? I mean, I saved Saber and her crummy master, but the rest don't add up.

[Woah. Alright, so that was a different tone of voice. Still, despite his confusion, he seemed to get it. One couldn't forget that Lancer was much more adept as a magus than he really let on to others.]

Hm. The Second, huh? [He touched on his chin and grinned, his mind going to the one place--]

So, I guess in one 'possible' spot, you and I got that friendly? That's a shocker.
red_branch: ([Raiment] Amused)

[personal profile] red_branch 2014-10-03 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
[Yup. Sounds like they got friendly to him.]

Huh. Yeah, you're definitely sounding pretty familiar. [Weird. He didn't quite know how to react, honestly. Lancer would have been prepared for downright hostility. Seeing as he knew nothing about 'Archer's Master' since Kotomine never really said much to him, Lancer didn't even know Rin's name.]

Kinda unfair for me, don't you think? You know all about me and I haven't even got your name, missy.

[How...formal of you, Rin. On the one hand, he appreciates someone who's very upfront, but on the other that's...that's sort of exactly what he's been doing.]

Hate to tell you, but from what I've heard training's probably the best and fastest way to figure things out. You could always ask the fairies though. They're surprisingly reasonable.
choreographics: (Well if that's love)

[personal profile] choreographics 2014-10-03 09:49 am (UTC)(link)
Well, maybe it's not all the fairies. Might be the higher-ups? [The whole thing's still a little fuzzy to him but he's going off of what he really remembers.] All I know is that fairies came up to me, asked me what I wanted, I told them, I woke up one morning and suddenly I could do things I can't do at home.

I'm sort of wondering if maybe "please" really is a magic word.

This one has been called dovahkiin, a title which bears the responsibility of slaying the dragons that threaten mankind...

[ He doesn't sound or even look particularly convinced by this, though. ]

But it seems to Khajiit that the troubles of man are far greater and more numerous than some flying lizards, no matter how fearsome they may be. If the rulers here seek some other use of J'sairr than this, it is not yet known.

[The look on his face definitely says that he has zero idea what she's even talking about, but hey, whatever, that's not the focus here. The focus here is that she's asking questions that he can actually answer though (and show off a bit in the process.)]

Magic, you know? I'm not exactly a wizard or anything where I'm from but I asked them for a little bit of an advantage and they gave it to me. [He pauses for a minute to think about what others have said.] It's not limited to magic either. You can ask for pretty much anything except for people or a way home or stuff like that. [Other...than...he kind of got both thanks to a well-timed canon update and the arrival of his best friend, but that's also not the focus here. He's assuming he's an exception, that's not unusual.]

I'm pretty sure I can be a lot more helpful now.

[Tohsaka. Why does that name sound familiar? Diarmuid's sure it has something to do with his war, but how he has no idea. Surely, she's not a master as has been suggested in a early response. The Archer he knows would never listen to one her age...]

Are you really Archer's master?

[Not that it has anything to do with what she has asked, but...]

...Tohsaka, hm?

[Well, he'd never actually met Tokiomi, but the Tohsaka name wasn't exactly a bad endorsement, even if she was from a branch, possibly. He really can't tell that, or which side she's on... but it's worth striking up a conversation, anyway!]

Well, I suspect that if you've heard of the Archibald family, you already have some idea of what to expect, then.

[ What.

At first, J'sairr is certain he must have misunderstood her. But, no... He's far too flustered to keep his ears from pinning back as he speaks. ]

Er... Khajiit does...not see how this is relevant. [ Yes, that was definitely a very smooth response. ]

Hey, don't be so fussy. A young lady should introduce herself a bit more properly if she wants to establish a formality!

That said, 'formality' was never a part of the discussion when it came to that coward. To that shady priest, locking me up in the basement while he lounged around and waited for masters to knock each other out of the game was his best strategy. I only had information I obtained myself--and, honestly, the little recon I did bored the hell out of me!
