[ This isn't the first time she's discovered a powerful necklace capable of miracles beyond being a plot device, but as an experienced magus who is used to artifacts passing along messages over cell phones, it's no trouble to adjust to it. While she doesn't understand why it works the way it does (what's the purpose of keeping a conversation permanently), from what she gathers it is a primary tool used by many of the others here. Having met someone already from her world, there remains the possibility there may be others so she sits all prim and proper for her debut. ]
Good evening. I'm sure the lot of you are tired of hearing introductions, but it'd be poor manners to not announce myself. While it would be discreet to do this one by one, idle time is limited so I'll make this brief and as memorable as I can.
I'm Rin Tohsaka. [ Surname second only because she assumes Japanese mannerisms are frowned upon in this world. ] Though I've been called away from my studies in London to fight in a war, I must admit my experience in combat is limited. From what I've gathered, there are many like me here. What is there for us to do? How can we aid beyond training and letting our inexperienced manner add to the favor of the opposing side? Showing both intelligence and courage can only get you so far. It seems rather meaningless to have us younger adults throw ourselves into the fray.
So what is it that you do to be of use? Every person brought here must have some value to them and hearing of your experiences may be able to help guide me towards my own. Keep it brief and with as little bias as you can--I frankly don't care to hear about the war this or the war that. Thank you.

That name? I don't think I recall hearing it before in my life.
[ Maaaaay just have insulted her fellow magus peer? Ha ha ha, good job, Rin. ]

I was aware that Japan was the complete backwater of the Mage world, but you have to be joking...
[DIDN'T YOUR DAD TEACH YOU ANYTHING...!?!]

The Archibald family... hm, now it's starting to come to mind. Isn't the sole purpose behind their prestige reputation a result of the Barthomeloi family name? I believe it to be something like that.
When I arrived at the Clock Tower, it wasn't to study the elite families.

And really, gaining some proper connections is never a bad thing...

After all, it isn't as if there's much for us to study here beyond our situation.
no subject
[...said without a trace of irony and as if he's actually legitimately disappointed he doesn't have them on him. you're getting the works some other time, tohsaka...]
...but really, what could you possibly mean? There's practically everything to study here... that includes the situation, of course, but this is practically the opportunity of a lifetime.
no subject
An opportunity for one, but what good is this experience if we aren't to return home? It isn't as if we belong in this world!
no subject
If we are to return to our worlds, the knowledge of different worlds should prove completely invaluable, and if we are not to return... well, we may as well go native, I suppose.

Ugh!
[ Rin's honestly not sure where her annoyance lies more. The fact he's come to this realization so soon or the fact he reached it before her. He's an experienced man, far greater than herself. ]
You're definitely my elder in these matters. Is it really that simple for us to integrate into a whole other society?
no subject
[because everyone has always gone well for him in the past, right? why should things suddenly change for no reason...?]
In any case... well, Japan is fairly different from London, even if it's not quite as different as this, so you may have a bit more experience with that than me, to begin with.
no subject
[ Yes, surely he's something of a family man? If not, she can assume with a prestigious bloodline like his own that a male heir disappearing could cause a rift. ]
--but you're right. Worrying about it now won't do us any good so let's retire that subject. Do you have any goals while you're here?
no subject
[sola is probably off partying, tbh]
For now, I'm simply going to approach things as I would back home. Having a bit of social status never hurts, really.

[ One wizard comes to mind, but he practically ruled higher than a king in his tale... if he is still a he. She's not sure what to believe anymore since female King Arthur. ]
So you intend to use your position to further your studies of magic?
no subject
[Of course, part of it is that more social status means being well regarded and living more comfortably... but studying magic is the important thing here.]
no subject
Well, I doubt we'll dabble in the same field even here. You have your goals and they are surely different from mine.
no subject
That's likely to be the case, yes. At the very least, provided we're not actively getting in each other's way, I don't feel as though things will escalate too far.
