[ This isn't the first time she's discovered a powerful necklace capable of miracles beyond being a plot device, but as an experienced magus who is used to artifacts passing along messages over cell phones, it's no trouble to adjust to it. While she doesn't understand why it works the way it does (what's the purpose of keeping a conversation permanently), from what she gathers it is a primary tool used by many of the others here. Having met someone already from her world, there remains the possibility there may be others so she sits all prim and proper for her debut. ]

Good evening. I'm sure the lot of you are tired of hearing introductions, but it'd be poor manners to not announce myself. While it would be discreet to do this one by one, idle time is limited so I'll make this brief and as memorable as I can.

I'm Rin Tohsaka. [ Surname second only because she assumes Japanese mannerisms are frowned upon in this world. ] Though I've been called away from my studies in London to fight in a war, I must admit my experience in combat is limited. From what I've gathered, there are many like me here. What is there for us to do? How can we aid beyond training and letting our inexperienced manner add to the favor of the opposing side? Showing both intelligence and courage can only get you so far. It seems rather meaningless to have us younger adults throw ourselves into the fray.

So what is it that you do to be of use? Every person brought here must have some value to them and hearing of your experiences may be able to help guide me towards my own. Keep it brief and with as little bias as you can--I frankly don't care to hear about the war this or the war that. Thank you.

Ahhh? You realize, this kind of place is closer to being up my alley than anybody else, right? If anything, I'm a shining example for what a young man ought to strive to be like, missy.

Sorry to be bold like this, but I think this world can only handle one being like yourself at a time. A shining example or not, your dismissive attitude towards matters that are serious shouldn't be replicated in any other.

But it's more than just that. That boy admires heroes and seems to have a fascination with becoming one. Following in your footsteps or that of any other hero will be problematic for us all.

Bold? To me, that's kind of a lukewarm statement. [If he had to count the number of times someone told him 'Wait! Don't do--', well, he'd drown in parchment or have to use a few castle walls to scratch the lot of it in. His grin suddenly returned.]

That's an interesting thing to hear, but I'm sorry--it's a lost cause. If a boy wants badly enough to be a hero, then his mind's made up for him, y'know.

Don't you think I'm aware of that? It's why I've advised you to stay away.

If Emiya is to become a hero, he needs good influences and not one with flippant mannerisms as well as ideals.

Oh, is that the kid's name? Emiya? I barely caught it the last time. [So, Rin essentially handed Lancer the gasoline--]

But, I doubt he'll meet a guy who's inclined to teach him to be a hero with the qualities you think are the best. Men who teach other men to be heroes are almost always complete psychopaths. My teachers, for example.

Ah yes, I'm familiar with your teachers. What an admirable woman. [ Of course Rin would find her someone to look up to. ]

You've got no idea just how much a bad influence that woman was. I might have actually evened out if not for her, actually.

[By reputation alone, Scathach was terrifying. She faced gods many times stronger than her and killed them, fought off demon lords and secured her own country in an impossible magic barrier. Among 'magic users', Scathach was a terror.]

[ Which makes her a perfect role model for a teenager girl who uses magic. ]

You should be careful about what you say, Lancer. It'd be unfortunate if she were here and heard that little slip of your tongue. Blaming all of your faults on someone like that... geez, it's almost as if you're asking for a swift kick in the you-know-where.

[Of course, Lancer grinned at that. Rin was beginning to endear herself to him.]

Well, so, you shouldn't slip and tell her. If anything, she'd probably make you suffer for not correctin' me!

[ Just wait until he sees that ass in person to remind him just what was really endearing about her. ]

Jeez, we'd both be in real trouble then. Guess we should work together to avoid the wrath of a woman like that.

I wonder how long it'd take you to run a lap around this world. I haven't seen a map of it myself, but I imagine it'd be a challenge even for someone as fast as you.

Hey, who knows? I saw a map of this country and it doesn't seem nearly big enough to encompass the whole world. There's probably a ton of nations we haven't even heard of, yet. [Unless this was some shitty draenor situation in which case subscription canceled.]

So there's a lot of undiscovered land! [ That time she sounds a bit too excited. ]

Heh. That's quite a thing to get giddy about for a magus. Would you wanna explore those brand new lands, missy?

I was just thinking that if I dared you to run the entire land and map it out for me, that you would. What kind of hero would turn down a lady's challenge once issued?

H'oh. I might have fallen for that during my lifetime, but I don't have any interest in brand new fame while I'm here. I'll let the young ones handle those ridiculous feats.

You're nothing like the man of legend I read about in my youth. What kind of hero gives up the opportunity to acquire fame in a new world hm?

Don't be ridiculous. I'll always long for the chance to fight impressive and dangerous enemies, but you obviously know the sort of life I lived.

It was a lifetime enviable to the whole world and it ended valiantly. Heroes should be left with one life and one life alone. It'd be an insult if any of us said that what we had wasn't enough for us.

I think it's more insulting that you're willing to just settle down and live a normal life after all you've done. Shouldn't you be using your experience to lead or to at least teach the youth of this world how to be like--wait, no.

[ PLEASE DON'T DO THAT. ] The world had its fill with your types already.

You're definitely right. This place couldn't handle another 'me'. It'd be disappointing to me, really.

Admittedly, you gotta remember--I'll operate however I want. If I feel like standing out, I might do it. Still, I'd prefer not to act like those regretful spirits who think they've still got things they need to do.

Well, now, missy. It just sounds to me like you just want me to behave the way you see fit. Wouldn't that be boring if I just added you to my list of masters?

Would it really be that bad to have an experienced magus as your Master? [ Especially one that can keep her limbs?? ]

I won't tell you how to act [ Until she needs him to behave a certain way, that is. ] but you still have a frustrating way of handling things.

That's because you modern magi worry so much about the end results. 'Something has to be a success' or it's not worth any merit.

It's a boring way to live. You should enjoy the path you take, regardless of result.
